First Time Cruise out of New Orleans

Review for Voyager of the Seas to Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise. We left out of NO on April 7, 2012 for 7 night Western Caribbean cruise. Sailed on Voyager of the Seas. Our embarkation was very smooth. We were sitting by the pool by 12:00. We did not get our luggage before dinner but we had packed our carryons accordingly. So much easier than boarding a plane. We were very impressed with RCI. Visited Falmouth, Jamaica; Grand Cayman ...

We had fourteen members of our family going on this cruise, we all live in the northern part of Mississippi so we drove to New Orleans on the morning of embarkation. We arrived at the port around 11:30, checked in and all on board by 12:30. Very smooth embarkation. Good Job Royal Carribean!! My family had 2 cabins (7294 and 7295), one balcony and one inside room overlooking the promenade. The ...

First -- a little background. This is our 14th cruise. Our 3rd with RCI and our 2nd on a Voyager class ship. There were nine people in our group -- all seasoned cruisers with the exception of the youngest, who was on his 2nd cruise. Also want to say "Thanks" to everyone who contributes to the boards, and writes reviews on Cruise Critic. A lot of very valuable information is on there. We were a ...

We are a 39 year old couple cruising with our 5 year old daughter. This is our 6th cruise on RC, and we have cruised 3 times on Carnival and once on Holland America. We flew into NOLA late Thursday night, and had a very nice stay at Days Inn N.O. Airport, then moved to the French Quarter to stay Friday night at Ursuline Guest House. It was conveniently located to all the sites, but not a very ...

We arrived at the port early, around 11AM, having checked with the cruise line prior that it would be okay to drop off our suitcases so we could roam around Riverwalk prior to our cruise. Well, we were hustled through and before you knew it we were in line for the security check point. Reading that you couldn't board until 1, I didn't want to sit there for 2 hours waiting. The man assured me that ...

We just returned from seven-day Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas. My wife and I (ages 65) took my daughter, her husband and our three grandsons -- ages 14, 12 and 10 on this cruise that left from New Orleans on March 31, 2012. We chose this cruise because we could drive to New Orleans rather than fly seven people to New Orleans. We had three staterooms -- two balcony ...

Since we live in the Northeast we flew into New Orleans on Friday morning prior to embarkation. We arrived around 12:30, checked in and were able to explore New Orleans that day and evening. That was fine although I am not in any rush to return to that area. Boarding On Saturday we checked out of hotel and were on board by 12:00. Very smooth embarkation. Good Job Royal Caribbean!! Lines ...

This was our first cruise ever. I have been trying to convince my wife to cruise for over a decade. She does not like closed spaces. So I paid extra to get the Grand Suite. We were definitely spoiled. We actually were the first people on the ship. I have 2 boys and I never have seen them so excited. I do suggest bringing Walkie talkies. They loved all the activities and the camps. What a ...

We had a very easy drive to New Orleans, but found it a bit tricky getting around the city. We stayed at the Ramada Inn in Metairie, which we would suggest. It was a very clean and pretty hotel. The rates were much better than staying in New Orleans. We arrived at the dock around 10:30 and got right to the check in station. This would have been an even easier process if our travel agent ...

We took the 3/3 sailing out of New Orleans to the Western Caribbean and overall had a wonderful time. We flew in the day before and stayed 1 night at the Hilton Garden Inn, which had a good location to the French Quarter. The hotel was decent, nothing spectacular. The room definitely had a temperature problem. Despite how low we set the thermostat, it was pretty warm. Also, there was a ...
