A bit about us: I am in my mid 40's and have sailed on a majority of the other cruise lines over the last 10 years. I was traveling with my son who is 22 who has sailed a few times as well. We make the most of our vacations and don't mind paying more to make the cruise fabulous - after all it is a vacation.
Arrival - VANCOUVER:
We flew in the day of departure (around 11:00 am) - ...
Reading all reviews below, it seems like I was on different ship... Anyway I'm not that kind of person that only see negatives, but that's exactly what I want to highlight in this review. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my cruise a lot, but comparing to other 5 cruises that I took previously (this one was first on Royal Caribbean) I would say it was towards the bottom of the list. Did I become too ...
We chose Royal Caribbean's 'Serenade of the Seas', sailing from Vancouver, as there was a special offer available. This avoided entering the USA at an airport, with all the associated infamous problems with US immigration staff. Having spoken to passengers from Princess, Celebrity and Holland America, in different ports of call, we could have had a better cruise for little or no extra cost. Almost ...
Alaska cruise, Sept 6 - 13/2008 RCI Serenade of the Seas
Our group of 22 set sail on the Serenade of the Seas on Sept 6 from Vancouver's Ballantyne Pier. We had a mix of previous cruisers and "cruise virgins". We have cruised Princess and Holland America, but this was our first RCI cruise. Throughout this review, I will compare RCI to Princess.
As you can imagine, coordinating 22 ...
We have 22 cruises under our belt. Twelve have been with Royal Caribbean. Therefore, it would easily assumed that we have a good understanding of what is expected when one is on a cruising vacation. We have yet to tire with this venue and we have included a variety of other types of vacations during this run on cruising. Overall, we believe this type of vacation, cruising, best meets our needs. ...
This was my second cruise, but it was a first for my wife. She was most concerned about being seasick, but it turned out that she was not affected at all. Not having sailed with any other cruise line beside RCL, I will not be able to make any comparison, but here's how our experience went:
1. Embarkation: we arrived at Ballantyne pier just before noon and got on the ship with a minimum of fuss. ...
I'm from Florida so this review is titled "Fun in the Florida Sun" but it is a review of an Alaska cruise. We embarked in Vancouver and the embarkation process was quite fast and easy, be at the Ballentine docks by 12:30 and you should be on board by 1:30. Before we boarded we were surprisingly bombarded with hand sanitizer stations monitored by ships staff vigilantly watching to make sure that ...
This was our second cruise to Alaska on the Radiance and our fourteenth cruise with Royal Caribbean overall. Radiance has been our favorite ship for years, ranking higher than the popular Voyager class ships that we have sailed on. We went into this cruise with very high expectations. On some fronts, the cruise exceeded our expectations while on others, left us disappointed.
We arrived at the ...
First let me start by saying that we booked our cruise 6 weeks before sailing through a large travel service. We decided to take an Alaska cruise because some of our friends had taken it before and said it was beautiful and amazing; however, we did not choose Royal Caribbean as our first choice and would have taken Holland or Celebrity if it would have been available. This was our second cruise; ...
Radiance of the Seas provided a satisfactory, but certainly not stellar, first-time cruising experience for our long-anticipated cruise tour to Alaska. We journeyed from Florida to board in Vancouver, a lovely city, if you know your whereabouts and enjoy the harbour, waterfront, and Stanley Park. The commercialism of RCCL detracted from a private, classy cruise, as the management is geared to ...
