We wanted to see as much of Alaska as possible and this was the perfect itenary. We saw almost All the big places except Glacier Bay as Royal does doesn’t travel there. We missed two years of cruising and received bonus FCC so we leveled up to the Royal suite. That suite is amazing, so amazing that we rarely left. We ate in our suite in front of the open sliding glass doors or on our huge deck ...
We sailed from Vancouver (what a great city).
Boarding was straight forward and efficient and went without a hitch (including a pre-cruise test for our daughter at a hotel immediately across the road).
Overall we loved the cruise. I had been slightly worried, given a lot of the recent reviews in this forum. I needn’t have. Service was excellent and the food is on a par to our previous ...
First, let me begin by stating that we had an amazing vacation that included gazing at glaciers, whales, eagles, and other fantastic sites in the Last Frontier.
I have written a very long and detailed review [https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2864103-a-journey-to-the-last-frontier-serenade-of-the-seas-alaskan-itinerary-review/page/10/], but to summarize:
Boarding & Disembarking - Since ...
Due to Covid, we wanted to book a cruise that departed and returned to Vancouver. This would allow us to fly domestically so the only testing we would need was to get on the ship itself. We wanted to go in May as it is one of the dryer months and it was the best decision as we had amazing weather. 13-18 degrees celsius every day. We needed nothing more than a sweatshirt at most and some days ...
Sailed B2B Northbound and southbound. Check in was very smooth, enjoying Windjammer buffet by 11:45 am. We've circumnavigated Australia/New Zealand 30 plus days on the Radiance so we were very familiar with this ship. Itineraries were excellent considering cruising have restarted in Alaska. Cabin steward and dining services were impeccable. Safety and health protocols were impressive. This ...
We like Royal Caribbean cruise line and this specific trip included all the things we wanted to see and do. The excursions we took we fantastic especially the white water rafting in Juneau. Suspension bridge and train in Skagway was also excellent. Saw some whales on our excursion at Icy Strait and the excursion-"Lighthouse Totem Poles and Eagles" in Kitchikan was lots of fun especially when one ...
Really like Royal Caribean, only natural to go with what you know.
From the moment we entered the ship we were showered with attention, service, courtesy to say the least, our luggage were taken to our cabins right away, we felt like we owned the ship.
Food was amazing as well as service throughout, you were greated with a very cute frase WASHI WASHI, quite cute, it became my grandsons ...
I had done an Alaska cruise on this same ship a couple of years ago with friends, but this time it was with my mom and SO.
TL/DR:
* Suites are sweet and you should do it at least once in your life
* Royal Caribbean is awesome onboard for special needs, like food allergies and limited mobility
* Radiance class ships are the absolute perfect size
* RCCL invests in great entertainment ...
I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but figured it would be good here, also. Some people are questioning whether they should do this ship to Alaska. Others are giving a more negative view on things like the food, etc on other threads. Here is my summary of my impressions on this ship/itinerary:
We also just did the 11 night Alaska cruise on the Ovation and had a wonderful time! I ...
Four seniors escaping from the Arizona heat to Vancouver on Sept. 6. Flew in 1 night early - our party of 2 - and stayed near the YVR airport at Ramada Inn as it had a free shuttle and free breakfast. Room was small but clean and quiet. On boarding day (9/7) we joined with another cruise couple at our hotel and split a cab to Canada Place. $36.30 + tip CDN. 30 minutes after arrival we were on ...
