Surprisingly pleased! Owner's Suite

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

After reading all the negative reviews I almost did not book this old ship! I am picky, really picky and I am a true "Karen". I booked he one bedroom Owner's suite cabin. This cabin was on deck 10 and near the elevator, which after pulling a hamstring days before the cruise was extremely helpful. The towels were not exactly fluffy and yes the hot water handle fell off when I turned it on, ...

Good Time on the Jewel

Overall, we had an very good experience. The crew was outstanding- knowledgeable, efficient and had good senses of humor. Food was a little uneven in the main dining room and certainly not to pre-pandemic standards. On lobster night, my wife and I had to laugh at the smallest tails we'd ever seen. We had a three night dining package and were disappointed in Chops Grille. It was nothing ...

Booked this cruise because of the itinerary. I planned on visiting friends in both Barbados and Tobago, which I did. The only problem with the itinerary is the San Juan departure port which is cumbersome to get to. The Jewel although one of RCI's older ships was clean and well maintained and really doesn't show her age. Some aspects like the tiny pools and small windjammer buffet do harken to ...

This was our 10th cruise and first with Royal Caribbean. Previously we sailed with Princess and Carnival. We were hoping that Royal would provide a good mix of fun/entertainment without uncivilized fellow passengers ruining the trip and it pretty much met our expectations. The Good: Embarkation was pretty simple/quick Cabin was clean and functional Descent standard balcony Service ...

Good Time on Voyager

Overall this was a great cruise with minor issues. We flew into SJU on Saturday and stayed at the Caribe Hilton. Nice property and easy drive from the airport. We were prepared for major traffic on Sunday, but it was not as bad as I was expecting. We had The Key and arrived about 10:45am. We were staged and moving in about 11:30. Being the first group, we were through check-in and onto the ship in ...

A Wonderful New Year Cruise

We have cruise many times with Royal Caribbean, I believe 3 times on the Voyager and are Diamond members. This was our first time taking a "holiday" cruise and it was very enjoyable. Getting on the ship was fast and easy. We chose a 1pm time and we were in our rooms by 1:30. Cabin #1320 is one of the Owners Suites which we upgraded to from the Grand Suite using the Royal upgrade program. ...

Overall a great experience with a few exceptions I wish I’d known about in advance

Overall it was a great cruise and I would sail with them again. Clean, well maintained, the shows were amazing, and the staff were friendly. Food in the Italian restaurant was well worth the extra cost. We did experience some issues. Notably: The Key program was not worth it. There were no event reservations to be had. We didn’t get priority departure. We kept being told there would be signs ...

Great time on a smaller ship

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Vision of the Seas

We'd never been on this small of a ship before, but we loved it. Prior reviews commented about the age, but overall, the ship was in good shape. What impressed me was the staff. Our housekeeper, waiter and assistant waiter were outstanding. Being a smaller ship, we saw more of the Captain, the main staff, and the Cruise Director and Assistant Cruise Director, who are husband and wife, than we ...

Great Ports, Great Service, Cabins Lacking Amenities

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Vision of the Seas

I had a great time on this cruise. What drew me in was the low cruise price, the fact that Royal Caribbean could handle a group of almost 200 Canadians and the amazing ports of call including Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. There isn't a ton to see and do in Tortola. It was going to be a beach day but because the sea was rough, all beach excursions were ...
