i took this criuse 4th time. i like it, but something are change. The room services was bad, and now they charge $ for that service. One of the night i went to the Windjammer and the meal was bad. The crew was very good, except for the supervisor of the Schooner Bar(01-13-2018) he treat us with no respect. The Cabin Steward - Alterno was very good, always the cabin was clean, she made lovely animals with the towels. All we need or ask for, she always she always pleased us. The waitress Ceres came before us with speed, respect, and whenever we needed something she brought it with great kindness. Al the dinners was very good. I think that the shows in the theater can be better., but those who had were good. I send a few clothes to the laundry and was very good. Anyway, I give an 8 to the cruise, the price we paid was excellent. Read Less

Since the recent hurricanes trips from Puerto Rico have become very attractive due to the constant price drops as the line attempts to fill the ship last minutes. It was unfortunate to learn that the beautiful island of Dominica (which the trip was going to visit originally) was understandably swapped out since the island was decimated by the hurricanes. The ship is in good shape though there are some spots that show its wear. Staff is very friendly and approachable. A huge happy spot on this sailing was the missing constant hard selling you often get on other ships in the fleet. I don't think we ever got hit up once to buy a drink or dinner package while sitting enjoying a meal in Windjammer. Wish this would happen more fleet-wide. Critical lesson learned was with regards to room placement. I'm still shocked RCCL places the most expensive rooms directly under the loudest parts of the ship (Windjammer in this case). Read more about that nightmare below. This is the third time sailing from PR and each time I'm pleasantly surprised with the type of people sailing from here, they're just different, more into having fun than other departure-ports. If you can get a great deal then consider sailings aboard Jewel, it's more relaxing experience than sailings from Florida. Read Less

I choose the Jewell because of good recommendations written about the service and food. They were right. Good food in Windjammer and in restaurant. The room care was good and the ammability of Isabelle to me and my wife superb. Had and small problem after buying drinks by the pool, but was solve in no time. The attention at Windjammer is very good. At the restaurant sometimes they don't ask if we wanted something to drink or not. In general, the service is fast and the food good. Have problems to use the balcon... It was raining time and the water flowing from other balcons in my deck finished in balcon 1140. Not all the water wnet down the sewer in there, so we were not able to use the balcon as we wish. Next time I may register for an Oceanview cabin instead or for a balcon cabin in other deck. We arrived in San Juan the day before embarkation and stayed overnight in Old San Juan. I highly recommend arriving a day early because it took 2 hours for baggage claim and after a red eye flight and 12 hour travel schedule the extra 2 hours at baggage claim were exhausting! Old San Juan is a very charming side of town, with everything in walking distance and the food was excellent! Check in the next day to the cruise was fast and easy, we arrived around 11:30 and didn't even wait 1 minute to check in. Since the rooms are not ready until after 1:00, we hung out on pool chairs in the Solarium which is an adult only section with a bar and retractable glass roof with a/c. Food at Giovanni's and the rest of the ship was wonderful. We also ate at the Chef's table which I can highly recommend. The staff on our cruise were outstanding! Everyone was friendly, helpful, polite and anticipated our needs before we expressed them. This is my 2nd RC cruise and hands down, the staff on RC was much more accommodating than Carnival or Norwegian. Not to miss shore excursions are shopping in St. Maarten and experience as many beaches as possible because they are truly stunning! In St. Criox we did the Pelican Resort. The beach is beautiful but the resort is really outdated, the drinks were awful but the lunch was excellent. Must do is the Barbados Hop Island style, super fun and relaxing and great beaches. We didn't take advantage enough of seeing all the beaches and can't wait to go back to see what we missed plus different islands. Wrapping up our trip, we did the fort tours on the last day and airport drop off. This was a great value and experience. The Fort is amazing and I'm so glad we didn't miss seeing it. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the opportunity to visit 5 islands, in port from 8-5 each day and the variety of excursions offered at each port. Royal does a great job with entertainment and activities and the food is delish. Their ships are clean and the staff are always friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. From the moment we stepped on the ship we felt comfortable with the staff and their willingness to make our experience exceptional! They were smiling, greeted us with eye contact and were always ready to assist us. Our room was clean and kept clean daily. Fresh towels each day and turn down service nightly with cute towel animals. Cannot say enough about how Royal staff performed in their jobs to make our experience just perfect. If you are planning your next cruise vacation and cannot decide on the cruise line, I would highly recommend Royal to you over others. They go the extra mile to make this a vacation to remember!!! Our itinerary departed from San Juan and sailed to Curacao, Bonaire, Aruba, and St Maarten. We had a balcony room which had ample room for myself and 3 adult children. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. We took a smaller ship this time and it was fantastic because we became much more familiar with the staff and ship. We are beach people...and these were the most beautiful beaches and water we have ever seen! Bonaire is incredible!! Beyond words how beautiful and simplified this island is and we have been to many Caribbean islands. I traveled with my 2 adult children and regardless of age, there was very much to do at every port. The food, as usual was fantastic. whether in the Windjammer or the main dining room. The staff regardless of where you were on the ship was exceptional as usual on Royal Caribbean! I cannot wait for our next cruise. Read Less

We chose to go on Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas because we had been on this ship before and liked the size of this ship. This is the first time we booked a jr suite, but from now on that is what will be booked. The extra room is worth the money. We especially liked the walkin closet and the bathtub. The Suite was well taken care of. Dining is always Great and the entertainment and activities are Great! We could not have asked for better Service. Ports and Shore excursions are always available and easy. We have another cruise booked for next year!! Our room attendant, Alexis was the best and our waiter Diosdadojr and assistant waiter Dhiraj were the best. Can't wait to go on another Cruise. Hope the experience is as good as this one. I have not been on a bad cruise yet!! The only way to vacation as far as I am concerned!! Read Less

We've sailed Carnival and Disney before, but this was our first trip with Royal Caribbean. To be honest, I was somewhat disappointed. While our port itinerary and island experiences were fantastic, I was less than impressed with some aspects of our cruise. My main complaint, which I wanted to warn others about, was our cabin #7587. It's an inside cabin located above the casino. Our room was pretty much directly above the speaker system, so we heard a crew member shouting from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. every night as she ran the slot tournaments. That said, the actual layout and decor of our cabin was good, and our cabin steward was wonderful. Complaints were made re: the noise, security looked into it, but nothing changed re: volume, and apparently we couldn't be moved because the ship was full. Some other cons: - The ship really didn't have a lot of activities on board, and played the same movies over and over. Normally we have trouble deciding which activity we want to do...this time we often found nothing appealing. We attended two comedy shows (the first mediocre) and a magic show (unimpressive). - Also, while some of the food (lunch buffet, dinner at Tides) were good, the breakfast was subpar and I wish the ship had some additional restaurants for quick dining/snack options during the day. There is a spot in the Solarium where you can get snacks most hours of the day, but sadly the pizza was horrible...how can you screw up pizza?! We did pay for room service once ($7.95 service charge! it's always been free on other cruise lines we've been on) but the food was mediocre. - Some areas of the ship were quite nice, while others (ie- faded/flimsy pillows on chairs in outdoor dining area, ripped seating in Windjammer cafe) were showing their age. Also was not a fan of the artwork and sculptures on board. I had expected this cruise to exceed our experiences on Carnival, and sadly in many ways it did not. Read Less
