I chose this cruise to give Royal Caribbean a try since my last Carnival Cruise was so bad. Royal Caribbean does cost quite a bit more than Carnival so I did expect better food and better service and or amenities than I would expect on Carnival. Royal Caribbean service on this cruise was not as good as Carnival and neither was the food in spite of the fact that I paid for premium dining 3 or the 7 dinners I had. I will provide the "skinny" on how it went start to finish in this review on the Oasis of the Seas. Embarkation: Was much like getting on an Airplane, usual TSA (sorta) security harassment. Who wants to do that while on vacation? It is what it is I guess of course they Royal Caribbean doesn't want you to take anything on board that they can sell you at a very inflated price on the boat...that is really the issue at security and this is true of all cruise lines. Activities: Sea Days, the pools are overcrowded and mostly unusable so makes for a boring day. The Oasis of the Seas is a very nice ship and well laid out and didn't seem overcrowded unless you wanted to go to..hmmmm.....say the pool for instance....since its summer and you are on vacation...well good luck with that....it will be over crowded as well as flow rider, zip line and pretty much anything that would resemble vacation on the ship so you will be left with either spending more money while shopping or play a board game...something like that. The constant pull on the wallet was evident and very "in your face" as you look at price list for anything. For example, it was three of us that went on this cruise and the total in addition to the cost of the cruise itself was an extra 3200 dollars and none of us were extravagant in what we did. The 3200 covered shore excursions for the three of us, drink package, internet, gratuity and buying an occasional beer. Entertainment: The cruise director on the Oasis of The Seas seemed to be an after thought....I couldn't tell you who he was...I did see him some and he was entertaining, but was not a central figure in this cruise experience unlike the 3 other cruises. I liked the cruise director being more involved in entertaining Food: Was average to bad especially for what you are paying for. Royal Carribean appears to want to get out of the all inclusive food business for cruisers because they have more venues that require extra money than the included ones. They do have to feed like 5200 passengers so if you think you will get gourmet food think again...it will not be all that great. We ate 3 of the 7 dinners at one of the premium dining venues (different one each time, Giovanni's Table, Chops Grill and Sabor) and honestly none of them were good either and my last Carnival Cruise dinners were better and they were included at no extra charge. After this cruise I have concluded that cruising is not all that special anymore, not like anyone is really treating you great and feeding you great food. Service: In a word, lackluster, most of the crew seemed miserable and obviously hated their jobs. Most of the encounters I had with the crew were not positive at all, they were not particularly friendly probably because they were not thrilled to be there. Debarkation: Flawlessly executed, smoothest I have ever seen, absolutely no issues with how that went, hats off to Royal Caribbean. Good Job on the debarkation, was off the boat by 845 am. Bottom Line: The ship was nice, clean and well laid out. The food and service provided on the Oasis of the Seas was not worth the money it cost and in my opinion was not a good value. If I had spent half as much for this cruise I would feel much better about it, it was very lackluster for a premium price, nothing special about Royal Caribbean, just a fact, at least our my case. We were on the fence about cruising to say the least. 2 kids under the age of 5 and a family that prefers peace and quiet, luxury in terms of vacations. The boarding process was the first indication this was going to be a long week. Lots of people, huge facilities, long lines. To RC's credit, the move through people pretty quickly and have the process down. You can tell they are used to herding cattle though and some officials aren't very sensitive to the needs of traveling w/ kids. Once you are on board, you again feel the magnitude of the number of people. Elevators are jam packed and you often need to skip a car to wait for another one. We packed our suits in our carry-on's and went swimming that first day...so did everyone else. The pools are PACKED!! Unless it's a port day or at night, good luck relaxing at the pool. When I think cruising, I think fun in the sun. The pool scene was anything but. Our first excursion almost had us packing our bags and trying to go home. Thousands of people looking for their excursion on a hot dock, with little organization. Piled onto a boat, not enough seats for passengers and taken to a beach of shallow lukewarm water. The locals definitely not signed up to the same level of service as the crew members...mainly because they aren't on the same tip "meter" that racks up dollars by the minute. The ports are also largely dirty and tourist traps. Same duty free stores are at each port. St. Maarten's smelled of sewage on and off the boat. One of my biggest complaints is that there are a lot of things that are broken. Soda machines overworked and largely broken, video games for my boys almost all broken, pools are frequently broken, machines in the gym....broken. When I go to Chuck E Cheese at home, I expect this. When I'm spending thousands of dollars, not so much. Even one of the few show we could take our kids to broke down in the middle. It became a running joke by the end of the cruise. Another big complaint is the expense if you go off the menu. Tipping is over the top. You are charged $14.50 per day per person for tips. They you are tipped on top of every food or alcohol purchase. Then on the last day, you have to tip you waiter cash as well as your room attendant all while everyone on the boat is down on one knee asking you to give them a positive review at the end so they can continue to get paid. Obviously I get one's desire to make money....but it's a lot. In he end we spent over $1000 in tips. There is also limits to what your "limitless" drink programs will give you. There is a "timer" on how quickly you can refill your soda cup. If you are in the gym, they limit bottled water and you can get a shake or a juice, not a shake and a juice. This happens frequently in other places too. On a positive note, the food is good and the staff is friendly. Service is generally strong unless you have a problem/something out of the box. The attitude isn't necessarily we will think out of the box to serve. This will be my families first and only cruise. We're pretty much done here. If we want too many people in not enough space, we can take the train into NY. Read Less

First I thought that the food was not far superior to other cruises as I was expecting it to be thought it was just mediocre at best, we even purchased an upgraded dining package and still thought it was subpar food and service. Service in main dining room was definitely lacking. To make matters worse I ended up contracting E.coli on board and was very ill for a lot of the cruise. Felt as though I was not treated very well after the whole experience either. I saved for two years as a single mom to be able to afford to take my son on this cruise and just felt Overall extremely disappointed in the experience, The ship itself was beautiful overall to look at, it just fell short of the service in dining rooms and also they obviously don’t take the proper precautions to avoid getting illness Read Less

I cannot begin to tell you how upset I am with Royal Caribbean, this ship, and the unempowered folks at their call center. First night in Americana Cafe (3rd floor dining room), there were tee shirts and shorts almost everywhere at 730 dinner. I'm not talking kids, I'm talking adults who should know better. Why have rules for dress if you are not going to enforce them. Waiter was excellent. Learned all our names, gave great service. Problem was the food was awful, cold, unappetizing, rather tasteless We ate there for two nights and my kids (to celebrate our 50th anniversary we took both our son and daughter, their spouses, and each of their two children) decided that the food was so bad that we should move out to the specialty restaurants at their expense. Hit close to $1000 extra! My wife and I went to the same dining room on the morning of our second day for breakfast and had to get up and ask for juice and coffee. One night we took the 4 grandkids to the Windjammer for dinner. Woefully too small, which is a recurrent theme on this ship due to the overwhelming number of passengers. Food there was awful when you could get to it. Looked for a nice juicy burger, took it to the table and had to saw it because it was so well done. Fruit pies looked appetizing until you realized that there was almost no fruit and the bottom was a cardboard tasting dry cake. You simply cannot walk from one end of this ship to the other on the same floor. Be prepared to either wait for crowded elevators or walk steps. If I wanted to be outdoors in humid hot air, I would have stayed on an island not taken a cruise. We were on the back end of the ship watching an outdoor movie when a rain storm came. No place for us to go! Worse the drainage on the deck was so poor that our shoes were drenched too. Our grandkids were climbing the rock wall and when I looked at the staff member who was supposed to be watching them, he was texting someone, not looking at these kids up three stories. They said there was headliner entertainment but the same group was featured 3 or 4 times. The guys were good, but Celebrity, Carnival, Holland America all have multiple acts. Without reservations, you have no chance to get in the theater anyway, just another message of it being poorly designed. Oh, did I say they allow smoking in the casino? Who wants to gamble when you and your clothes stink of cigarette smoke? Hardly saw or heard of the Cruise Director during the day. Wanted a picture of the 10 of us, but all their background shots could handle was a group of 6, no more. Looked for shampoo, conditioner etc in the bathroom only to find a shampoo dispenser on the wall of a tiny shower so small that there was no way to bend over and pick up the soap. The crowning touch was upon return home, my credit card, our son's and daughter's were all double charged for what they paid on the end of cruise statement. My daughter called, got one of the unempowered folks at the call center who told her that that was because they might have missed something. No apology, no looking in to it. over 2 weeks later, all three of us called our credit card company to protest the charges. Still, nearly a month later no contact from the ship. The unempowered told my daughter that they could do nothing about it and we would have to "call the ship!!!" Did the grandkids have fun on their first cruise? yes. Would I recommend this ship, no way!! too crowded, staff relatively untrained, lousy food. Would I recommend Royal caribbean, since I will probably never try them again, I cannot say anything about their smaller ships. This one has way too many people without the facilities to handle them. As someone who has cruised on Carnival, Holland America and Celebrity, I don't think this Royal Caribbean ship can hold a candle to a single one of them. Private island was pretty, but unless you paid for chairs or shade or to play on the inflatables in the cove, there is little to do. Seemed like they were charging for everything, even $7.50 for room service. BTW, since we had status on Celebrity's Captains Club, we asked the unempowered call center folks before hand if that carried to Oasis, only to be told, no. After 3 days on ship our kids asked why our ships cards said "Platinum". Took 5 people to get a sensible answer and never got a chance to avail ourselves of the amenities. Save you money and the anguish and sail on a smaller ship where they can handle the number of guests. Read Less

This was a family cruise with our grown children and grandchildren. The ship is in dire need of a makeover. The carpet in rooms were stained, curtains torn, lack of storage for 2 people much less 3 or 4 which our cabin could hold. The chairs in the main dining were stained, the chairs in the Aqua Theater were dirty. We were greatly disappointed in the shape of this ship, which was not in ship shape at all. We had drink passes and that included fresh squeezed orange juice. If you wanted to have the juice at breakfast, it was not available in the Wipeout Cafe. You had to get that at the main dining rooms or the Windjammer. If you wanted an omelet that was made to order, that was was not available in the Windjammer Buffet but had to go down to the Wipeout Cafe. Wipeout had cereal but no fruit which had to be gotten at the Windjammer. Whomever designed this ship did a terrible job as far as making it convenient to eat. Could not get soft drinks most of the time from the machines because they were empty and extra frustrating when you had to buy a coke pass that was useless most of the time. It seemed that no matter what public restroom I went into, most of the sinks were broken and had a maintenance needed sign. Grandson had arcade pass but half of the arcade was broken down. I will say this, the entertainment was great, the service was great except for the Wipeout Cafe, which they seemed to be in a not so friendly mood and the food was great in the main dining areas but just so so everywhere else. Below are the comments I sent to RC about our recent cruise on the Oasis. I think that it contains important things to know before booking. |During the production show "Come Fly with Me", my husband was in the front row and the blond flying acrobat flew off the stage into him. We are very upset that no one came to insure my husband was okay or uninjured. (He has a massive bruise on his shin.) Accidents happen, but the fact that no one checked on him is completely unacceptable! The RC sanctioned island tour and shopping in Jamaica was a complete joke. The tour was disjointed and made no sense, the very expensive lunch was uneatable (we had no options since they took us to their private venue), and the shopping was in very sketchy areas. Essentially, we spent the day trapped on a shuttle. The food in the Windjammer and the main dining room was really good which surprised us after our last RC cruise where it was disgusting. In particular, the pastry chef and his staff deserve accolades for the taste and beauty of the desserts! Our dining room dinner wait staff was rather dreadful and very hit or miss. They did better the last night but were still not as good as the lunch or breakfast waiters in the dining room. The staff in the Windjammer did a good job of keeping tables cleaned, and the food areas full. One other thing food related is the pizza in Sorento's. It is really awful and one of the worst we have experienced. There is very little sauce which makes it very dry. One of the few soda dispensing machines (one of two on deck 5) was broken during our entire cruise. Considering there are only 6 machines on a ship this massive is ridiculous and on top of that only 5 which work is unacceptable. Of the 2 that are accessible anytime, only 1 was working so there were long lines which was annoying and blocked the walkway past the machines. In the past, we have purchased various pieces of art while cruising but decided to avoid the auction on this ship due to the venue size. It was very small and crowded which made it impossible to view and enjoy the auction. This actually became an issue throughout the cruise. Nearly every activity we attended, the venue was to small for the crowd. This could be due to either the activity being held in a venue that was to small or the lack of things to do on the ship. There were very few activities on the ship that were not sports (all sports including rock climbing/flow rider etc.) related. On a ship this large and with the rarity of the alternate activities, they quickly became overcrowded.| Read Less

Looks like there has been one cut too many. Poor food presentation. Most food arrived cold and menu items unavailable or incorrect in main dining room. Quality of food was terrible. School dinners are better on most days. Even specialty restaurants struggle to provide a reasonable standard of food. 150 Central Park was the best experience on board but Chops Grill has fallen into obscurity. Kids loved the Flowrider but weren't interested in the kids club. Evening entertainment was mixed with Headline act (Rookie) very good, come fly with me and Dive shows need a lot of work with no real continuity in story line. Ship is large but soon feels small and only takes a day or two to get acclimatized to. Most shops are selling the usual jewellery/watches without any variety. Price of Wine was highly inflated at about 300/400% above shop bought prices (then add the 18% tip). White Party that the kids were looking forward to didn't really happen but they enjoyed the dreamworks parade. Staff were always polite and cabins clean. Read Less

My family of 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 14, 10, and 10 months) went on the Oasis of the Seas for our yearly vacation. Cabin was disappointing as it did not accommodate 4 people plus pack n play which was sold to me when I booked. So we were crammed in a room and baby had to sleep in our bed. One incident was when we attended a family game activity that took a rated "R" turn when the host said in front of many children "stick barbie dolls up your private". He used other choice of words but I will not repeat them. When I complained, guest services did nothing. I can never give that innocence back to my 10 yr old daughter. Cometley unacceptable. The food was disgusting so we ended up paying a fortune for the signature dining. I even met someone who's wife got food poisoning from the lobster that was served at the main dining.i will say the servers were actually really nice but seemed over worked. They were so busy that dinner took forever. We would be waiting about 20 -30 minutes between each course. Sometimes would not even see our server for about 30 min. The soda package was useless because the drink machines never worked and did not have ice. The kids program was not inviting. I went to take my daughter and we peeked in the window and saw about 5 kids playing UNO and the staff was sitting on the floor yawning. The kids had put a pair of sunglasses on a ball and my daughter said "they are so bored they had to resort to putting sunglasses on a ball". Another incident was when we went to play Bingo. The game started at 330 and they continued to allow people to keep coming and purchase cards for 50 min after the game was suppose to start. Then the electronic tablets that people were playing on kept going out. We had to keep stopping the game to get them fixed. The game ended up taking forever and we missed our next activity we were planning. When I went to the spa I got the worst overpriced manicure. Barely any massage and the paint was chipping by that evening. Not even sure how sanitary the items were. Overall I would not waste your money on this cruise. There were so many incidents that by the end of the cruise we were just done and ready to get off. We felt like we were nickled and dimed the whole trip. Read Less

This ship is way too big for the crew to adequately serve the guests. It is like being trapped on a floating combination zoo/theme park. The addition of all the specialty restaurants seems to have impacted the quality of the food in the dining room (encouraging you to eat out?). With all the lines and crowds one is tempted to just stay in the cabin - only the movie selection is horrible, so that doesn’t work. We are Diamond Plus, so we have been cruising RCI for many years. I am sure this is our last cruise on this line. Gone are the days when you felt pampered and special and when you came home and raved about the food to your friends. I think we would have had the same, if not a better experience at Disney World! The ports were ok but that has nothing to do with the ship. The entertainment and activities were so predictable it was like watching reruns. Every time there was an “event” the Main Street was so crowded and the elevators so jammed it was better to just stay away or risk getting trampled. The port (Port Canaveral) is super easy to access. Unloading, parking and check-in are quick and easy a big plus. Read Less

This was our 34th cruise with RCCL. We have very high expectations from this cruise line as we are Crown & Anchor society members. Well after this cruise last week, we were extremely dissappointed. The Oasis which we have been on several times lacked enthusiasm from the staff. The food was no longer a thrill. Unless you wanted to pay additional for Filet Mignon and Lobster you had substandard food and pretty much the same starters and dessert every night. We ended up eating at the Windjammer with our party of 8 which we booked as we bragged about how amazing this cruise line had been in the past. In the windjammer cafe (buffet) I had to ask for them to clean my table and I had to request more dressing as they did not replenish unless it was requested. Needless to say we were embarrassed by the entire experience. The beds were hard as a rock. The couch in our room was filthy and the balcony had dirty railings and a burned out light. The photo shop on the ship lost our group photos and they could not recover them as that was our memories with all of our family members. Needless to say we have sailed our last cruise with Royal Carribean and we will even cancel our rewards credit card with them. The best part of the cruise was the comedy show ! A must see!!!! Rakesh our head waiter in the my time dining was amazing and tried to tend to our needs. The food selection was the problem not the wait staff! William our cabin steward was accommodating but could only do so much with the bed issue! Read Less

Decided to propose and get a fancy suite for the occasion. The strawberries and champagne were to arrive night one at 8pm. After it got to be 8:30, I called room service and they indicated they would call back. Never heard back. When I spoke with concierge the next day, they said I requested for the following day. After I showed my email with the correct date, didn’t even receive an apology. Was just trying to make everything special and the flow of the proposal was kind of thrown off. When they did arrive the next night, the card even reference the date from the day before. Other issues: Pictures from our 1st night never showed up on our picture card. Sad we never got them back so we setup a studio appointment at picture this. Very nice photos but extremely expensive. The packages went up to $3500, with the cheapest being $550 for 6 digital pics. Water in shower suite fluctuates from Luke warm to scolding hot constantly. Crew pressure washing windows at 2:30 am on two separate nights. Waited for 30 minutes in excursion line in Mexico and no one ever showed. When we called, we were told it was there and we didn’t go. We may have made an error and went to the Liberty excursion line, but the signage was very poor. Regardless, we didn’t any cared after they got our money. The positives were the dining experiences at the specialty restaurants. Probably the best part of the experience and we’ll worth the price to upgrade. 150 Park is the best of them. Another positive was the unboarding process with a suite. We were out in 15 minutes and avoided all the lines at customs. Overall, I was very disappointed and didn’t feel I got the value for what we paid or that anyone cared about the issues. I’ll probably pay a few extra bucks and try Regent next time. Read Less

We liked the open places where you could walk under the open sky. The feel of being om 6'th floor and look up at the open sky is fantastic. The food was really good. I recommend having ala'carte dinner at the silk/grand instead of the buffet. The port of Labadee, Falmouth and Cozumel is different in each their own way. Amazing beaches and activities on each places. Snorkling is a must, we found thousand of fishes. The shows on board was really fantastic, great performance like the best shows at home. Recommend the Come fly with me, Frozen in Time, Stand up shows, Oasis of the dreams, The Quest. The staff is really friendly and always a smile. We have been sailing on Royal Caribbean for many years and have always had a great time! Here are a few of the troubling things that we encountered on this recent cruise on the Oasis of the Seas. 1) Our cabin steward was very pleasant however for a newer ship we found the sofa to be very worn and stained. 2) The Toilet had a black moldy ring around the water line that could be removed with the proper cleaning material. Was very unpleasnat each time we used the toilet. 3) The internet connection was the worst we have ever encountered, we complained about the one day that we could not even use it and they gave us credit for the day, however when we cruise we need for business reasons we have to have quality service. 4) We had my time dinning so we could do our own thing. We encountered in the upstairs dinning room one evening a feeling of being rushed as they cleaned all tables around us and never even asked us if we wanted coffee. They even were cleaning things off of our table while we were still sitting there. 5) In the downstairs dinning room when we sat in the same area we were asked numerous times how was the service and to please give her a 10 on the ratings. Once was sufficent but she just kept going over her routine over and over again. 6) One evening in Dazzles or one of the clubs we actually saw the guitar player snorting what appeared to be cocaine before he went on stage. We were super excited about going on the biggest ship in the world (it was when we booked it, then the Symphony came along and ruined that plan :) ) I had written a nice long review about the ship and its features but opted for an easier to read version. The boat is huge but still crowded. there aren't enough seats inside to house everyone at night, especially if its raining and the aqua theatre is closed. Don't believe me? there's a lounge for suites guests so they can go relax in their own little haven away from the 6000 other guests. Food: Windjammer - basics like burgers and hot dogs are on at lunch and dinner, and are cruise ship average. Entree options are decent for lunch and dinner, if a little bland. Food is constantly cold. Honestly didn't eat a hot meal in windjammer my entire vacation. Main Dining Room - Options are good. Food was hot, service impeccable. Food was too salty for me but still a decent option. The Smart portion of Smart Casual attire wasn't enforced. I noticed a fair number of guests dining in Short and T's or baseball jerseys without an issue. Sabor Mexican Grill - Food was great, service was average. Entertainment: You MUST pre-book your entertainment and you MUST attend on the night you planned to see it. if you don't, you'll have to queue at Guest services to rebook or remove your reservation, and who wants to stand there while you are on holiday? Comedians were good, one was a little racist, but not in the usual funny way, sounded more like an angry drunk than someone pointing out the cultural differences in an entertaining manner. Ship: For it being a $5million a week boat it certainly doesn't look like it (6000guess x $750 = $4.5m, I rounded up as 750 is the inside cabin rate) The ship is generally unclean, the windows are streaky, there's dust everywhere (look in the corners) and it just looked generally dated. Would I go again?: No. I can excuse the ageing of the boat, it is getting a bit older. I can excuse the food, its impossible to cater to everyone taste. I can excuse the weird booking system for shows. What I cant excuse is all of them together. Too many little things on board made it difficult to enjoy. I'm still glad I experienced it, but I wouldn't do it again. Read Less

Because we live in Cocoa Beach/Melbourne area and wanted to try a mega ship cruise. We concluded that is not for us. We prefer Celebrity for the size and design of the ships we have been on. We will never go back on huge ships again. The Oasis' design is such that Central Park is open air. When it rains, people cannot go there and they are jammed packed in other venues. Not for me. We are being bombarded with marketing ad nauseam. The drink packages are ridiculous for our age group. We don't drink from morning 'till night. The bar/lounges have no view of the ocean. The music that we wanted to hear was always scheduled for later in the evening. Conclusion, we now know that we really do not belong on a ship like that. We'll stick to smaller ships with design/configuration more enjoyable at our age. We are not old but older and active and appreciate different life style. Read Less

Oasis is now looking a little tired and ready for a refit. A group of seven family and friends traveled to destinations we had not yet been on aboard a ship that we had not yet traveled. The positives were that there are some beautiful areas on the ship to visit and the shows were wonderful. The negatives were rude customer service reps that were unable to address problems. Bar experiences were quite lacking and the drinks ordered were not great. Phones were always staticy. We had trouble with our door closer on the balcony and on the door constantly whistled. We had multiple problems with reservations for dining as well as rude hostess staff in the main dining room. We were overcharged for services purchased onboard and yet they have NOT been resolved. I'm a travel agent who likes to travel to new places so I can give my clients a great experience and this is NOT one that I would recommend. Read Less

I have sailed with Royal Caribbean 4 times now, and this ship is not worth the money. My first cruises were on the Enchantment of the sea, a newer ship so it was nicer overall. This ship is old, shows its age, and boring, even just for a 3 day cruise. The only things to do on board are gamble, drink, or hang with 90% of the ship at the pool. The casino is ok, Carnival's was better. We had a cabin on the 6th deck, near the front, interior, and do we ever regret that! The first night we heard that the stabilizers were having some issues, so we were rocking like crazy. Made my fiance so sick! They don't tell you that these rooms are located above the front thrusters, and close to the front anchors. So when the ship is parking early in the morning, you are woken up with shaking, rattling, and vibrating! I am so angry that Royal Caribbean doesn't warn you about this when you're booking the room. I spent $800 for a horrible room I wouldn't take for free! The food was ok. After this many cruises I expect more from the Royal Caribbean dining experience. I kept raving to my friends about how their food is the best for cruise lines, and then we were dissapointed. The gravy tasted straight out of a jar, their steaks were dry even cooked medium, and their potatoes taste like they're made from a powder, and this was in the main dining room! The buffet was alright, it's a buffet, but there were a few instances where the "fresh" fruit looked almost rotten. Read Less

My husband and I went on the Oasis of the Seas in 2014 and we loved it. We booked the Oasis again for 2017 but it was postponed due to hurricane Irma. We rescheduled for April 2018. I happened to be 18 weeks pregnant this time around so I knew it wouldn't be quite as fun since I couldn't do any of the fun excursions, but I figured it would be a nice relaxing vacation. The boarding process went smoothly. When we showed up there were tons of people and a long line but it moved quickly and we were on board within an hour. Our rooms were ready so we were able to unpack the carry on bags. Our other bags arrived a few hours later. The first sign of something being different came when we were boarding the ship. There were tons of staff members trying to sell us things- mostly dining packages. It was annoying and weird. I don't want to start my vacation being bombarded by people trying to sell me things. Pretty much the rest of the cruise felt that way...I've been on 5-6 cruises and I have never felt nickled and dimed until this cruise. Popcorn during a movie cost $2.50 plus 18% gratuity. The costs really didn't matter but the popcorn wasn't fresh and did not taste good and that's how things felt the whole cruise- like we were getting charged extra for things and they just weren't that good. The Johnny Rockets cover has doubled or tripled since we last went. It used to be a good deal but at $9.95 (plus the 18% gratuity they add to everything) it's no longer worth the price. We tried tapas in the wine bar on night and they were unevenly heated and had obviously been microwaved. The wine bar costs extra so we had to pay for food that we didn't even eat because it was so bad. I'm definitely no foodie and I'm really not that picky of an eater, but the food on this cruise just wasn't very good. The main dining room food was okay and the buffet food was bad. The dining highlight was sushi. It was good and we would have gone again if we had the time. We wanted to try the hibachi but it costs $46 per person. I would consider paying that if I know the hibachi is good but given our bad experiences with the food we just decided not to risk it. I read a review from a few years ago saying the hibachi was $25 per person. Royal Caribbean has obviously raised their prices quite a bit over the past few years, yet the food and service have gotten worse. So many of the daily activities revolved around getting our money and buying overpriced things. Since I'm pregnant and a bit more tired than usual my husband and I spent a few hours on sea days in our room watching TV. Most of the channels revolved around the ship & company (a port shopping channel, one channel that just plays the safety video over and over again) and there were only about 4 or 5 channels that would have movies and TV shows. Most of the time there really wasn't anything to watch on TV, so I caught up on reading instead. I've never been as disappointed with a cruise (or any vacation) as I was with this one. We loved Oasis so much in 2014 and it's so disappointing to see what it's becoming. Royal Caribbean is all about money now. They'd rather nickle and dime you than try to get repeat customers. The service on the ship was pretty bad. It just seemed like a lot of the staff didn't want to be there or are unhappy with their jobs. The exception would be our main dining room waiter and our stateroom attendant. Both of them were friendly, professional, and great. There are so many other companies out there to try, we definitely won't be wasting our time with Royal Caribbean anymore. Vacation wasn't all bad- it was really great getting to spend so much time with my husband. This is likely the last vacation we will take as a couple and we'll soon have to figure out how to add a baby into our travel plans. I hate complaining so much, I just would really recommend that people look somewhere other than the Oasis for their next trip- it just wasn't a very good experience. It should have been so much better. Read Less

First off when we registered our 6 yr old daughter at Adventure Kids, I was informed I finished the registration and after two staff telling me I was all set I passed my daughter over to staff in trusting. My wife and I then checked out the ship and what else it had to offer already noticing it was not as good as past cruise ships we had been on. After about an hour and skipping the ridiculous priced beverages we went to get on an elevator and noticed our daughter running towards us crying and scared to death. A nice gentleman had helped her find us and she had told us that as soon as we left she was told that she needed to go find her parents before they would keep her because we needed to sing her in. Obviously none of this was explained. So they had let my 6 yr old daughter go off on her own to find her parents, for an hour! Needless to say she was very scared and didn't want to go back. I went to Guest Services where they connected me with the Manager of the kids club and she insisted we bring her back and let her apologize for this incident and misunderstanding. We did go and speak to her and the only thing they would do is say how sorry they were that I didn't understand. We finished the conversation kindly but in my stomach I was furious. Throughout the cruise we felt nickel and dimed for everything. We felt we couldn't fully enjoy this $1200+ cruise fully without having to pay for so much more. We wondered what the 1200 even got us besides a sardine can sized room and free unoriginal food. The dining experience with the serving staff was delightful and distracting among the constant annoyance of our cruise. Nassau was horrible. A nonsatisfying and continual money pit along with the worst haggles. On a poor tourist beach of Jamongoo?, I think that was the name, we encountered our first set of rival beach staff who faught over customers that eventually led to police being called. Then we took a taxi to Atlantis for $30 and when dropped off, we then learned we couldn't go into Atlantis to look around with out paying for an armband. So we decided to back to the shops after getting another taxi who told us it was only $4 and said that the other taxi was a gypsy and he overcharged us. Official taxis have yellow plates and gypsys have blue plates. While walking around in the shops we found repetitive products for different prices. In one shop we found our second fight over customers and this time it was with us over a shirt. One lady helped us and then another came up and took the shirt from the first lady telling her to leave her customers alone and that it was her sale. Of course at that point we didn't need the shirt and left. Going back to the ship seemed like the best thing to do. The next day on Coco Cay we welcomed the day for something new and hoped this last day would make up for the unfortunate first 3 days. While being the first guests on the island for the day we took advantage of finding a good spot to setup. We tried a paddle boat for 30 min but upon trying to use it realized it was broken and so they traded it out and while trying the new one my daughter was tired and didn't want to do it now so we returned it much earlier than 30 mins. Snorkeling was mediocre. Saw some marine life. Daughter played in the sand mostly. Now lunch was fantastic.!! The small ships to get back on the cruise were tiring and hot. Our room staff was great as well. Always leaving a small towel animal for my daughter was cool. We couldn't wait to get back to land and get off the ship. Feeling like we wasted our money, we won't be doing that a cruise again and probably not Royal Caribbean either. Read Less

The food was not good and was very limited. It was the same thing every day for breakfast and lunch. There was barely any food to eat after dinner and it typically tasted bad. And was exactly the same thing every night. At coco cat they only served food for 2 hours and they did not even have cold water. One member of the service staff refused to provide water to my pregnant wife because it was 1 minute after they had to close and told her she could buy a drink if she wanted to. Not to mention, it took over 2 hours to get off the ship in the morning to get to the island. There were no waiters to get drinks from at the island and there was music for less than 1 hour. All the activities in the island were very expensive and nothing was included with the cruise. The overall night entertainment was really only good one night. Read Less

For our 30th anniversary and we have never been on a Royal Caribbean cruise but we have heard how great they were. The room was very small and it was a balcony. The steward was excellent . The main dining room is good and the service was excellent but they should have a better menu selection. The buffet was good but very crowded . I like how they find a table for you but the menu was only ok. The recreation activities were excellent with no crowds. The 150 Central Park restaurant was excellent but the other fancy restaurants are too expensive because they have fees + a la cart options . The shows were all disjointed and made no sense. They do have some very talented performers but not good story lines. The fitness and spa area was over priced and there fitness staff is unqualified but that is the same on all cruise lines. They promote alcohol way too much and shopping is too much also. The cruise director was very low energy and boring. We had issues with our excursions because my wife was sick and customer did nothing to try and fix it. Labadee Haiti was beautiful and I will go back. The ship is huge but very easy to navigate. I liked the art auctions and the ship was beautiful. Embarkation was horrible it took 2 hours to board and we were early. Even though we had issues I will go back. Read Less

Started with having to get on ship late due to inspection. Once finally on the ship, we could not get into our room for 2 hours which meant we had to carry all our carry ons around with us while trying to figure out the ship. Customer service was mediocre at best and in most areas was very poor (waiters in the Windjammer rarely asked about getting us beverages and several times did not at all. Multiple unpleasant and rude bar tenders). Multiple issues with broken equipment (including our room refrigerator, several pop machines and at least half of the arcade games). Other than entertainment, we were highly dissatisfied. After having an amazing experience last year on the Magesty, this trip was very disappointing. I will not be recommending RC to others as I have in the past and am unsure if we will personally vacation with RC again in the future. Read Less

We went on our first RC cruise as an anniversary celebration. Huge disappointment. Food was terrible. Same food everyday that seemed like it was reheated from the day before. Employees seemed very unhappy. Even rude at times. Activities were disorganized. Ship had plumbing issues. Smelled like a sewer in our room even waking us up when the smell would get bad. The only positive was our room attendant and female employee in Johnny Rockets. Tried to email RC when we got home only to be told we should have spoken with guest services on the ship and that they couldn't help us. I wouldn't recommend ROYAL CARIBBEAN to anyone. Don't waste your money or your time. They only want your money. Also cruise employees don't seem to understand how to properly direct cruise passengers during disembarkation process. Rude in my opinion. I can understand now why employees may hate their jobs. This ship needs a re-do and new people that have mgmt/people experience. Great bosses = happy employees. Read Less

Outstanding Crew members: Howard, room steward for cabin 10684--provided bed board for too soft mattress Champagne bar: Mukesh Mandal: knowledgable, always remembered drinks and names, wonderful smile; great hospitality. Hitesh (from Mauritius) at Giovanni's- Great, personable waiter! Hector Rosal: Master Gardener for Central Park--informative presentation in Central Park; talented professional Dining: 150 Central Park staff was unfriendly, aloof, slow service, limited food choices Did not like that only 2 dining venues were open when at shore (Windjammer & Park Cafe) ...Although wish we had discovered the AMAZING beef sandwich inn the Park Cafe earlier---great, fresh food for breakfast and lunch there! Bagels cooked to order for breakfast--not found in Windjammer--not even a toast station! Food in Windjammer was consistently poor, over cooked, room temperature at breakfast and lunch. Chops: Had lunch here twice--limited menu but pretty good. Service was top notch. Izumi: All wines by the glass were priced over the $13 package price requiring an up charge there for wine. Entertainment: Great dance band on the Promenade but no place to dance! Loved the EdgeEffect singing group but not as the same headline show every time--no changes at all from one night to the next...right down to the order of songs and comments made by singers. Same with the Aqua Theater show...same show each time with no variety from one night to the next. Comedy team BORING and NOT funny! (Heard this from several others, too) Insulting humor is NOT humorous! Only fresh burger on the ship at Johnny Rockets, then a $6.95 upcharge! Outrageous!! Why not a grill on the pool deck? Library: generally an afterthought. Many volumes in foreign languages. Shelves were nearly empty. Diamond Member "exclusives": seriously, a BOGO milkshake or glass of wine, beer or soda? Only decent perks on the list were the one day of internet pp and the free 8 x 10 photo and 3 free drinks (but with limited hours). Why not take off $40/day on the drink package since the drink value is $13/drink? That way a $500 pp package for 7 days would cost only $220? Went to the Diamond Club once (AFTER we finally found it due to mis-directions onboard ship signs). Coffee machine wasn't working. Only 3 other people there. Ports: Just poor! Labadee beach was too rocky to swim in, mobbed with people looking for shade, drinks were all sickeningly sweet fruit drinks or just beer. Water almost impossible to find. No wine. Food served buffet style was worse than in the cafeteria on board. Jamaica port (Falmouth) is billed as the Historical Port of Falmouth but was just built a few years ago. Big draw here was Margaritaville, which is in the 'walled' town (built for tourists) but it was crowded, hot, and overpriced. Cozumel--well, not much to say--everyone's been there at least twice! Pushy store owners, over priced stores. Disembarkation and Embarkation were easy and efficient. We have sailed 12 Celebrity cruises, 2 Azamara...wanted to try RCCL. Won't be sailing RCCL/Oasis again.
