We have always cruised with Royal Caribbean and enjoyed all our cruises, but this time I felt I had to write this review. To begin with, the ship is way too big! You can't get from one end of the ship to the other without changing decks. We have always found our way around on ships by the first day, but this time it took forever! Central Park is a joke! We walked through it one time - nice if you like trees! There were so many people and kids, the lines to go anywhere were super long. And don't do anything out of the ordinary or you will have to pay for it. The royal shop was the smallest I have ever seen on a ship, and nothing there worth buying. CoCo Cay was a nice island, but it is mainly for young adults and kids; and again, expensive. Rotan was a horrible mess! They are still building the dock and all you see is dirt and construction workers! I must say that Costa Maye was one of the pretties ports we have every been at. Everything you wanted to do was right there, no need to go into town. Now - Johnny Rockets was a night mare, the staff was slow, the food was bad, and the wait was horrible. My advice, if going on a cruise, forget this one and go to the next size lower ship; like Freedom or Indepence, a lot better Read Less

We are experienced cruisers and have been loyal Holland America for a while. We went on this cruise because it was my high school reunion cruise. I have always said never on a BIG ship, well I now mean NEVER. Too many people pushing, cutting in front of, rude and crowded. Too many children, we wondered if we were on Disney by the large number of children who ranged from infants(how can you enjoy a cruise with an infant is beyond me), to teens, running, screaming, pushing all the elevator buttons, and more screaming. The noise level is above real, bring ear plugs. The only place we found some peace and quiet other than our cabin was the Solarium(adults only) and on some occasions Park Place. All the announcements, music, narration is beyond a human's hearing ability, so loud. The service in the Main Dinning room was very good. Our group had to eat at 5:30pm which is not what we wanted but in order to be seated together it was our only choice, Royal would not work with us on this. The food there was good and hot, I will not say delicious except for the escargot, onion soup, lamb chops and desserts. Royal is not a cheap cruise line, they will nickel and dime you to death, want to watch a movie in your cabin will cost you $11.99. The cocktails are all over priced and often only a half full glass, is Royal really that desperate for money?? Don't forget your umbrella, when it rains on this ship everything gets wet and all the passengers crowd into the interior. My biggest complaint is smoking is allowed in the casino. I like to play Black Jack and there was always someone smoking. This is a dangerous fire and health hazard, I don't want to breath second hand smoke. The life boat drill was a joke, they could never get all these bodies off this monster. The video they showed was a take off of James Bond and so poorly done. We could not hear this or see it from where we were seated in the Promenade. I don't know how Royal gets away with such a drill as the passengers kept talking through it all. We have sailed Royal years back and all I can say it was night and day difference from our last Royal cruise. Shoving in line at the buffet was so bad and you serve your self, a real potential for food contamination. We only ate there once and said never again. Again, too many children, why were they not in school at this time of the year is beyond me. Guess you can tell we were very unhappy on the monster and will be returning to Holland America for our next cruise. Read Less

Wanted to try the Mariner again after 11 years. Booked an Owners Suite # 1628. Overall found the ship in fair condition. The balcony for our room was not in good shape. Furniture in our room was very old. Looks like the only thing replaced during the refurb was the carpet. As we send a lot of time in our room, will stick to sailing in full suites on an Oasis Class ship. Room attendant had a total of 15 Suites and Balcony Cabins. Our cabin was never completely straightened or cleaned. Royal needs to cut back on the number of cabins for their attendants. Suite Lounge was very nice and never over crowded. As we were in port everyday, 2 days at COCOCAY, had to eat lunch in the windjammer as the dining room was never open. Breakfast in Chops was nice. However, the room was drab and windows were very dirty. Read Less

My wife and I are both Diamond Plus and been on the Mariner 9 times since it came to Port Canaveral. We have 6 additional cruises on the Mariner that we canceled. We thought things would get better especially after all of our constructive input and complaints to Corporate. The Mariner has numerous safety and health issues that the ships senior management turns a blind eye too. The Mariner also has serious environmental issues and poor air quality and ventilation; especially in and around the Casino. The Mariner does not recognize Diamond and Diamond Plus elite cruisers. This is a total insult to those who have been Loyal to Royal. I spoke with many crew members in housekeeping, food and beverage, dining room, and restaurants; and all have told me it is a punishment to be part of the overall crew of the Mariner. They all agree management is not supportive and treat crew members like cattle; so therefore it seems like passengers are also treated like cattle. If you are an experienced cruiser or a first time cruiser avoid the Mariner of the Seas from Port Canaveral. Read Less

It was very obvious that Royal Caribbean has cut costs on a lot of stuff. I am not sure if it was just this ship (should be the best since it was the most expensive) Or if Royal Caribbean just cut costs everywhere. Food quality was not good and was the same almost every night, Cleanliness of staterooms and ship where bad, Not kept up with maintenance, Hallways smelt like mold, Feces on my toilet after asking them three times to clean it from previous people, All the way down to not having towel animals made every day only 3 days of it (this does not cost money should do every day my kids enjoyed it). Staff did not have to work for tips since it is added on to EVERYTHING (even the electronic bar that made our drink) so they did not have to work for the money which definitely showed. There used to be different shows everything with NO reservations. Now there are reservations with the same 3 shows 2 of them being musicals which we do not enjoy we like more circus olay stuff. No seating the first day at breakfast so had to wait with food until someone stood up and we could get their seat. If I hadn't cruised with royal Caribbean before it would have been an okay trip. But VERY disappointed because I knew how good they used to be and it was not that great. Read Less

Not worth the money to go on this trip. Food and service in main dining was the only great areas. Not enough programs for amount of guest, dirty pool because of not enough crew cleaning all the drinks, elevators were a joke multiple empty ones would pass to have a full one stop. They just have to many guest and not enough crew. If you wanted to get somewhere leave a half hour early so you could stand a wait for a elevator then stand in line for whatever you wanted. You were always waiting in line for everything. Excursions were good. Crappy day at coco kay should some that up. Why would you have no shade and smoking where the tram would pick you up???? That one blows even my mind. Need to start all over with this ship. Either less passengers or more crew members, but I would do both to help you out. Just a thought. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our honeymoon as it came highly recommended. Unfortunately we were ver disappointed with our experience. Day 1 - we were not let into our rooms till after 1pmm this left many passengers holding onto hand luggage meaning activity options were limited. None of the bars had menus out and the staff were only intrested in selling the drink packages rather than service. Day 2 - coco cay was a pleasant island but there was a lack of communication around what activities would be available along the beach. There was very little signage to tell you what drinks you could buy or where advertises activities were being held. Dinner at Icon grill was also a mess. The servers did their best with a very overbooked restaurant, but we were kept waiting for 20 minutes for a pre booked table. Our food then took so long to arrive that we missed a show we had booked for 2 hours after our dinner reservation. It was too noisy to even have a conversation with the person across the table so we ate in silence. Day 3 - at sea. Entertainment offered was great, however there were not many activities offered for entertainment. Rather most seemed to be focused on seeing how much they could get you to spend. This made for quite a boring day aboard. Day 4 - getting off the ship in Mexico was a mess. There was no organisation of your groups, rather we were told to go to the end of the pier at a certain time. The timeframes given to get to the designated area was ridiculous as it was set for 15 minutes after we were able to leave the ship, meaning everyone else was also trying to get off at the same time. My husband and I had also purchased a dining package and were told we can dine at any specialty restaurants. After dining at hibachi we were informed this was not included. We felt very ripped off as nowhere on the ship website is this outlined. We were also told at the end of the dining experience, removing our option to choose. Extremely disappointed as we spent a lot of money on this cruise with expectations of a relaxing vacation, when really we were sucked into a money eating scheme and have yet to see the benefit of the cost. I have been on a total of 5 cruises, this was my 2nd time on Royal Caribbean. This was by far the worst experience I have had. There are those experiences you look forward to once you finally make it on the ship. You hear people talk about the giant party at the beginning as you sail away from the dock. You can't wait to see it for yourself, well my family and I where all ready for the sail away party but NOTHING no music or dancing on the top deck just tons of people confused. Apparently on this ship they try to crame 6500 people on deck 5 where you can't even move or see anything. Just imagine being in a small mall like setting, trying to watch a concert or show. With 6500 other people. No bigger them a basketball court. Having little kids with that many people is not safe. So we missed out on a lot of activities on that floor due to the safety of my children. And of you are interested in food at anywhere close to that time you are out of luck if you want to sit and eat as a family on your family cruise. The food was just ok nothing blew me out of the water. I have been on other cruise lines where the food was fantastic this was by far the worst food. Same thing over and over nothing different and the same all of the ship. You want the same burger you have 4 different places to get it but nothing different. The desserts were pathetic!! The pop machine where broken so you get flat 2 litters of Sprite to drink!! I mostly come on cruises for the food and energy you get from all the music and staff that make it fun. But I didn't get that energy till the last day on the ship. Kids things this was by far my most frustrating part of this cruise. If you say you are going to have face painting from 230-430 and someone gets there at 345 and they tell you sorry that your kid can't get it done because the line is too long is not ok!! This happened multiple times to use and not just on the face painting. It also happened on the moon light rockwall climbing which we got there an hour before it was supposed to close and was told no. If you tried to rock wall climb in the daytime your hands got burned so needless to say that was out. But once we walked back by the face painting booth to see all the kids with face paint and see different people at the end made me furious. They picked and chose who got to get the face painting done. Not a happy momma!! I also purchased the Deluxe Beverage package for my husband and I. I did this so I could order whatever I wanted and not worry about the bill at the end of the cruise. We that didn't work because I would get charged anyway even with my package. So I would have to take time out of my day to go down and sit in the line to talk to the guest service and explain what I ordered. One day while i was at guest service ( which i had to go to at least 5 times) I asked about the wrist bands you could purchase instead of your card. I was told they didn't have anymore which I thought was crazy because it was only the 1st full day of the cruise. He told me the inventory was gone. I am sorry were we not just docked so you could restock your inventory?!? Don't have something for certain guest and not all 6500 people. If I want to purchase something then I should be able to purchase it. And if I waited till maybe day 3 or 4 and they had sold out, I would have understood. But don't say you just don't have enough for everyone. That is crazy to me. Don't plan on using their app to message back and forth while on the ship. You spend more time fighting to keep it up on your phone and miss out on the messages you thought sent. The TV in your room was pointless!! Other cruise lines give you some type of free movies to watch and decent TV. Not on this ship! This ship you get to watch Duggie Hauser family matters and cricket! And the next day can watch the same episode again!! For a ship to not have a huge sporting event on somewhere in the ship is crazy!! On the same cruise line I have been talking about throughout this post they put the the world series games on over the pool so anyone who wanted to watch could and also had a pub in side that had it on aswell. Which means people with kids could still let the kids play while they watched the game. But you could watch Cricket anytime of the day. So as my mom was sick in bed the last 3 and half days she hated the TV! The kids splash pad was great except you had no room to move on the deck around it. The chairs with stools where on top of each other and if you had time to stand up and move you would trip on the one next to you. Another problem I had was this all inclusive?? What does that mean?? Because you had to pay 2.50 per bag of popcorn the side of a juice box! How is this all inclusive??? Other ships give you blankets as much popcorn as you want and a great movie!! The Icecream was so monitored you couldn't even make your own cone!! The kids always look forward to coming back from dinner and seeing what animal they made well we only received 3 out of 7 nights. My other cruise line we received 7 or 7 ! It is all about how your staffs energy reflex on to us as passengers! We really looked forward to this cruise because it was geared more towards kids then before. I will say of you have young kids this is not the ship for you!! Go on the Carnival you will have the time of your life and worth every penny. I do want to say that I had one great experience on this ship and that was our very last night our server Joseph and his right hand man made my girls laugh so hard and finally got to see what I was hoping for the whole cruise! They did magic tricks and even got to see the "pet" mouse!!! They truly made the last night special. I even had to head back early to make sure our luggage made it out by the door in time. He helped my husband carry all of our desserts from the hall back to our room!!! Thank you for making that one night special!! Needless to say I will most likely not go back on this ship while my kids are young. Thanks Read Less

Cruised with 27 others. Had family, friends and Niece and Nephew 17&18. HOTS june 2019. We all felt the free food was excellent except for Solarium poor service & food. I reserved two times for free dinner every night, Solarium 6pm and then also My Time Dining 8:30 since we had no idea of show times & did not want to miss since dinner service is alloted 2 HOURS every night. The room attendants and food staff that we saw or spoke were almost all exceptional. There is an 18% tip already paid, we paid an extra 10 to 15% on top and could charge to our room. RC constantly nickel and dimed during the entire pre cruise, items that stated would be included were not get everything email led to you if they tell you something. Voom almost NEVER worked, no way to communicate with rest of our group, RC should atleast put dry erase boards on doors so we could tell everyone where wewent and in four hours where we will be. Print out your entire daily planner, to prove what you paid for and time you scheduld since their app hardly worked. I had to fight to get 1-arcade $ back, since card did not work( had already worked with attendant night before), 2- $ back from cancelled port RC excursion, 3- proof of dinner reservation # reserved and time 4-i have limited mobility and diarrhea was noted on my reservation and RC could not confirm where the $1200 Chill Island Cabana i paid for was..of course 2nd in line on Day one excursion CS had my reserved cabana the farthest last one as far away from bathrooms as possible to walk in 4 inch sand THANKS RC for working with me . 4- got $ back on voom since down so many days. 5- got $ money off cabana since items that should have been included were not - combination locking lid, speaker, usb outlet all none Existant. 6- Got bottle of wine since CS sold me personal Flowrider for my Fam of 3 (my Ipad blocked some drop downs for some reason and i never could read the excursion notes) but not the personal whole hour one on one, was only personal with 12 other guests. 7- RC sponsored excursion start time changed weeks ago, noth Ng noted on my stuff, noone informed us i guess they dont know how to pick up phone or knock on door but willing to interupt my meal to ask me to change my dinner time to 9pm for the remainder of the cruise. Oh the biggy, the weather was crummy, the second largest ship in the world swayed all day and night the first 3 days - in bed, during day, durring dinner, on top deck on bottom deck while walking, everywhere. It was not killer, but i have vertigo so it affected me more than others, but everyone was talking about it. Cool to watch the water swaying out of the pools though. So when it rains no Flowrider, mini golf, rockclimbing or ofcourse pool..could use hot tub since under cover. Since voom did not work, dinner reservation for everyone went out the porthole, first three nights instead of 2 hrs, took an extra 30 to 45/min to seat, so turned into 3 HOURS for dinner. Which dominoed into evening events , that were cancelled. Bummer again. Ps RC luggage tags are competely different, confirm size and shape before buying the cutesie tags. We had an okay time, expectations were high, being let down could have been avoided. Check out Rcblog to get good tips. Read Less

We chose Royal Caribbean based of off the vibrant brochure and commercials we wanted to go on a cruise thought wld be full of excitement. First off our room was incredibly small the shower was very small the shower head would fall off and the water didn't go down the drain completely which left it with a uncomfortable smell. The bed is like sleeping on the floor extremely painful to sleep on. Dont be confused by the pictures of the ship it is a very dull and unappealing sight. When we were on our final destination the pictures and television showed us an amazing view of a beach with a waterpark but when we got there the beach looked like a construction site there was no waterpark just a bunch of signs saying coming soon. The food was decent but again not as advertised. Also there is no iron in your room they wont tell you that but instead they will let u get ur clothes pressed for a small fee...found that out the hard way. The crew was the best thing about the cruise. We will not be going on anymore Royal Caribbean cruises I'd rather get on a raft and pedal myself than to go on another Royal Caribbean cruise. This was the most expensive vacation we have every been on we suffered charges after charges. Would you like internet? charge... would you like a better dinner than the buffet? charge. Would you like to do something when you get off the boat, charge, Park your car, charge. You cannot even find a private beach within walking distance in Nassau, they are all private and you have to pay even to go to the beach. You want to play bingo, charge. Not enough to do on this ship!! Also don't go to Nassau Bahamas , dirty stinky and you get bombarded by locals to buy stuff the minute you get off the ship. This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise and I was so excited about it. We departed on a Friday at 4 PM and came back on Monday at 8 AM from Port Canaveral. The boarding process was simple and easy. Other than that, what a disappointment. We were in an adjoining ocean view room on the 4th floor next to the elevators. The design of the ship is terrible as there was a walking track right above our heads. We could here people above us starting at 6 AM each morning. The design for the bathroom is bad too as the shower faces out into the entire bathroom and it's very easy to accidentally wet everything outside the shower. The shower curtain was also gross as it had pink mildew on the bottom of it. You also have to call room service to have ice delivered as well as a corkscrew delivered and this typically took between 30 - 45 minutes. This ship is old and in desperate need of maintenance and painting as it looks worn and dated. There were several light bulbs out in the solarium pool area along with tiles missing in the overall design of the space. The food was terrible. We had 8:30 PM dining each night and the food was ALWAYS cold and the salad was soggy. I know how difficult it is to prepare food for a high volume of people, but I've been on other cruises and never received cold food. The crew was not friendly. I don't believe I received a smile from a single crew member the entire cruise. The entertainment was so dated. It was catered to 55+ age group. I heard that this ship is going to be docked for repairs in May and even with this knowledge my disappointment remains the same. No matter what ship I go on, I expect for it to be well maintained and for the staff to be friendly especially when an 18% gratuity is tacked on for everything. Royal Caribbean lost me as a customer forever because of my experience. The two positives from my perspective was that the bed was very comfortable and our cabin steward did a nice job cleaning our room each day. Read Less

Did a 4-day Enchantment Cruise in February. Used Port Canaveral. One day at sea, one at private island (Coco Cay), one in Nassau. Nothing new to add from other reviews. However, there were a few noteworthy positives and one overwhelming negative: There were two particularly positive aspects of our cruise on the Enchantment (our seventh RC cruise). The food was incredible. Quality was high, portions were generous, and service great. This being in stark contrast to a brief RC cruise from Tampa to Key West and Cuba last June, when the quality was terrible, portions small, and service indifferent. RC seems to have completely righted the ship, pun intended, regarding their food service. It was the best ever even compared with two Celebrity Cruises. We do not define our satisfaction with a cruise based on the food (we are not big eaters); but, one should not overlook the seemingly great turnaround by RC with its food service. And, the entertainment was as good as we've observed on any of our 13 prior cruises. The dance troupe, in particular, was incredible: high energy, great choreography, and extremely entertaining. And the bad news: As in the past, we checked in well before our departure on the RC website and obtained our Set Sail passes (months ago). To do so, we provided a credit card and affirmed that we could go cashless on the ship. We went to disembark and were not permitted to do so. Instead, we were directed to the Guest Services desk and into a line with at least 40 people. Ultimately, we were told that we needed to present a credit card because they had none on record--even though the night before, when we obtained our balance from Guest Services, the paper showed the last four digits of our credit card!. Too, we had the page from the Set Sail application showing we entered the credit card, but the RC Agent insisted that none was on record (subsequently, we learned almost everyone in line had the same experience). We provided a credit card and the Agent asked if he could keep the paper proving a credit card was of record long before we boarded. We were over 90 minutes late in departing and this stressful delay caused us to just barely make our flight out of Orlando. This episode gives rise to two questions: (1) What happened to the credit card we put on file? and, (2) If they were missing a credit card for us (and most of the other guests in line), why didn't they call us on one of the four prior days when we were on the ship to obtain a credit card instead of pulling us out of the departure line and delaying our exit? Needless to say, an otherwise stress-free trip became very stressful and the therapeutic benefits of the Cruise were undone by Royal Caribbean's ineptitude and unsophisticated way of handling the matter. The Guest Services station during this debacle was thinly staffed (there were two open terminals) and no supervisor was visible. The agent was neither contrite nor understanding. He acknowledged that they had a problem with their computer system, but failed to show any compassion to the many people enduring a needless delay in exiting. Our loyalty to RC has abated and, as a result of this problem, we likely will take our business elsewhere. Our travel agent was made aware of the situation and said she would take it up with RC. That was nearly 45 days ago and she acknowledged that she received no feedback from the cruise line. I guess they can afford to be arrogant with full ships and great earnings. But company's like RC are built one consumer at a time and they likely have lost this consumer! Read Less

We were looking forward to our first cruise and were very dissatisfied with Royal Caribbean! The food was terrible, staff was attentive but not knowledgeable about the cruise, ship was dated and the buffet needed to step up hygiene practices i.e. staff cleaning tables used the same rag to clean multiple tables. The cabin attendant was very good and delivered on all our requests. The gym was small, very crowded and took a yoga class which was very full and had to avoid others in the gym while doing poses. The trip to Havana was educational and interesting but can can be completed in a day. The stop in Nassau is good for shopping but was not interested in the excursions since we already stayed at Atlantis. I would consider going on another RC cruise in the future but on a newer ship and in a larger cabin with a different venue. Read Less

We booked the Oasis based on all the amazing reviews! No lines, Never feels crowded ect. Not sure if we were on the same ship!!! We went in January which also just happen to coincide with a Jewish holiday.(they had their own restaurant and elevator) No big deal except the Solarium bistro was kosher only the entire cruise and FULL of screaming kids. This is located in the Adult Solarium!! The Royal Promenade was so packed and noisy it every single night we stopped going. Never even got pizza, cookies or a sandwich as there was always a line. The Windjammer is less than half of any smaller ship we have been on. We kept thinking we were missing part of it somewhere. We loved Central Park and it seemed to be the most quiet so you could have a conversation and it was very pretty. Loved Vintages and spent lots of time there. We enjoyed the moving bar, but WHY was it full of little kids taking up seats??? Dinning room service was so bad we went 2 times. Royal has cut out the bar waiter, the bread waiter and everything falls on head waiter. It was NOT his fault but there is no way for one person to keep up with all that and no assistance. 45 minuted and no drinks, appetizers that never arrived and coffee that was ordered but we left after waiting 15 minutes and no coffee. Room service for continental breakfast was excellent and prompt! The Adult pool OK. Love the glass cover but it hold in all the sound. There should be 2 pools and one hot tub not the opposite. At time the pool was so full and the water so gross you people were commenting and not getting in. We had a ocean view balcony and the rooms are much smaller than any ship we have been on and much less storage. I will say the show "Come Fly with Me" was outstanding and the Diving show was fun. We are in the specialty restaurants most every night. The BEST service and NOLVIN was the BEST in Chops! I could go on and on but it was just the worst cruise we have ever been on.I heard Royal had for every adult a child cruises free so it was full of kids! We planned for a year and it has turned us off cruising for awhile. Everyone has their own expectations and experiences and these were ours. When we cruise again it will not be on a mega ship and will check to see if Royal has made these cut back across the fleet. PLUS check for any holiday at all! Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the variety of activities. We traveled with our adult children, their spouses, grandchildren, and our siblings. We usually cruise with Carnival, but wanted to try the big ship experience. We booked our cruise through the Royal Caribbean website. The site leaves a lot to be desired, our account frequently locked and it was hard to navigate. Embarkation: We arrived at the port around 1:00 pm and were able to walk right in the ship without a wait. This was were the problems started. We did not receive our luggage until 9:00 pm. We received no help from our cabin steward who referred us to security. This meant that we spent our first dinner and show (cats) looking for our luggage. It mysteriously appeared at 9:00 with no explanation. Our cabin and also other members in our group arrived to dirty cabins. The sink in our bathroom backed up every time we used it. The door wall and mirrors were dirty when we arrived and looked the same when we left. There was mold in the track of the shower doors. They were stingy with towels and soap. Don't count on a bathrobe or liquid shower soap on this ship. We didn't even know they put towel animals on the bed until one of our family members mentioned they got one the last day. We booked a balcony room. The room was poorly laid out with a limited amount of closet and room storage. We brought additional clothes because of the lack of laundry facilities (Carnival has washers and dryers). You can send your laundry out for $37.50 for a small bag;. I would be afraid I wouldn't get it back. This ship experienced a Norovirus outbreak the previous week and put "level 3" precautions in place. The staff served all the food at buffets, coffee stations, pop machines, even salt and pepper for your food. I am fine with it, except that it led to huge lines for everything. I feel that additional staff should have been added to compensate for the precautions. The staff was not friendly and probably over stressed about the situation. The entertainment was the only positive of the trip. We took advantage of all the entertainment options and saw all the shows. We enjoyed the Central Park and Solarium areas. Disembarkation: We stood in line for an hour as we snaked through a line of at least a thousand people. We have always used the self serve option, taken our bags from our room and walked off the ship with out an issue. After we were in line for a half hour they decided to open up another exit. We were two ours late getting into port and with the wait to get off, we missed our airport shuttle and nearly our flight. Both my husband and brother got sick while we were on board. We are not sure if it was food poisoning, stomach bug, or a virus. We will not travel Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

I chose Oasis because I had already been on Allure and it was good. This was also the closest port to my home and easiest to get to. The embarkation was a nightmare, with taking over an hour to get thru security. Once on the ship, they did not open the rooms until 2:15 p.m. Muster was also bad. We arrived 25 minutes early and were told to stand single file and must face forward. We were literally shoulder to shoulder in a line and were not allowed to move, because the ship staff member was trying to be a great authority on this whole thing. We had a 6:00 p.m. dining time each day pre-arranged, but the first night, we were escorted back to the elevators and taken to an upstairs restaurant. Every other night in the main dining room they failed to have our table and twice were sent to an already occupied table forcing us to stand in the center of the dining room until they envented a tablel for us. We never ate in the same area or had the same waiter all week. Drink prices were outrageous and food was very mediocre. At disembarkation, it seemed half the ship decided to get off with their luggage, with lines around the entire Prominade area for hours. Not a good experience on the Oasis and will not be using RC for vacations in the future. Read Less

Me and my partner went on this cruise for a getaway weekend and the overall review of the ship was poor. Our best time we had was off the ship at our excursions. I have been on 9 other cruises and this was by far the worst cruising experience. Food: Poor, there were only three main places to eat where the food was bland and they actually announced to leave the dining room when finished because room was cramped. Also room service is not free compared to other ships where it is. They served the same food twice for lunch and breakfast was the just about the same every day. Activities on ship: Poor, I was disappointed that there was no separate piano bar, comedy club, sweet shop. All these activists were ran in the main theatre room. Compared to other royal carribean ships the shows were disappointing and what was shown on the commercials was not similar so do not expect what you see. Cococay: We has been shown the cococay pictures and were very excited to ride the water slides and water park. When we arrived that island had not been finished and there was no water park, and felt like we had been scammed and didn’t read the fine print. Besides that the beaches were not crowded and very nice. Room: Moderate, our housekeeper was amazing but we unknowing booked our room under the casino. BAD IDEA. We were kept up until 2 a.m every night and when we asked the staff to quiet down or move rooms they had told us “well we make the most money at this time in the casino”. We are young and go to bed later but the noise was extranet loud and you could hear people screaming in the casino. Very disappointed. Overall we had felt like we wasted our money besides the excursions, due to the food, activities and treatment. Read Less

Norovirus hit the ship and got 7 of the 10 traveling with so sick, including a 1 year old and a 5 year old. The crew was doing what they could, it just wasn't enough. They gave everyone free movies and free room service, restricted to what the medical staff said they could eat. Room service was just overwhelmed. Our rooms were on the same level but not near each other. I walked on average 11 miles a day between getting food, gingerale, trying to pretend I dont speak English and smuggle crackers out of the Windjammer cafe. I only did that because room service was taking so long. They wouldn't let you take food from the buffet but did let you take it from the wipeout cafe, but they didn't have crackers. They did say they will be refunding the entire trip which is nice but we were celebrating several things on that cruise and those things were all ruined. It's an experience I will not soon forget and I doubt we'll be cruising again. John and Lloyd at table 714 were great for the few nights some our group made it to the dining room. The ship is simply too large. We made it to Haiti and had a great time on the zipline. The vendors there were too aggressive. I think if R.C. said to them back off and people will buy more it still wouldn't help. When we got back on the ship the 1st of our 7 got sick. We didnt think anything of it and the next morning there was a paper attached to our door saying 2% of people on board were ill and of anyone was experiencing symptoms to call medical. My husband called and was told it would be 3 hours before the nurse could get there. It was 7 hours. They wanted him to give them a stool sample and left cup. Happy anniversary to us. Our kids got sick later that day. Same thing with the stay in your room, etc. Nurse took even longer to get to them. Later that night at a show a woman threw up into a wine glass but it was more than the wine glass could hold so it got everywhere. Another man couldn't make it to the restroom and threw up all over the area in front of the elevators. When picked up my grandson at the ocean adventure (day care) vomit was in several areas. And even though the crew was cleaning and washing everything down I never saw 1 carpet cleaner, and I saw a lot of throw up in carpeted areas. Even writing this now is making me a little sick thinking about it. I also saw a little girl cut her elbow and get back in the pool. The staff was all over it and closed the pool down but that's how nasty people are... damn everyone else, I just want to do what I want. People were rude even before everyone was getting sick. Oh and on debarkation my 1 year old granddaughter (that got sick) was not medically cleared to leave the boat but they accidentally hooked that medical info to my daughter's sail and sign card. So they didnt let my daughter off the boat and told the rest of our party to keep moving. So it took some convincing but we said the sick baby was already off the boat. Then at customs it was clear they were not getting paid. They didnt even so much as check a bag or anything! Just "that's a passport alright, okay. Bye". Makes you feel warm and fuzzy doesn't it? I was expecting a lot more out of Royal Caribbean. Especially after hearing how it would be from ppl that I’ve talked to. The ship itself was very nice. But the food was horrible in comparison to carnival. We only went to breakfast one time in the main diner and didn’t bother going back after. The pancakes were like rubber. Didn’t have a lot to choose from and they had the same thing for breakfast everyday. On carnival I remember being able to get steak and eggs for breakfast and it was good. I was also expecting the customer service to be a lot better because of what I had been to by other ppl. It wasn’t any better than Carnival’s customer service. (Not saying that either was bad) One more thing is that my wife and I really like is the cruise directors from carnival. They actually make the cruise more fun. We hardly ever seen or heard from the cruise director on Royal Caribbean. On this particular cruise ppl got sick and we were forced to return a day early. And that wasn’t even the bad part of our cruise. It was everything above. Read Less

My in-laws purchased this cruise for our entire family of almost 30 people. The entire thing was absolutely designed to take as much money from you as possible. They nickel and dime you mercilessly. I ordered the same drink the entire time and the price was never the same. I felt psychologically manipulated the entire time by the layout. I understand that it’s a business. But their methods are ham handed at best. I felt like just another head of cattle in their money making operation. I felt like a cog in someone’s personal cash machine. Don’t bother staying onboard when in port. Almost everything on board is closed. Any last minute purchases, you’re out of luck. Anecdotally, the line questioning charges at debarkation was massive. Toss in that virtually our entire party now has the flu. It wasn’t my best cruising experience by far. The boat is far too large and carries entirely too many people. It’s a floating Petri dish. If you really want a pleasant cruise stick with Holland/America. Our party took a vote afterwards and it was unanimous, which is unheard of in this family. None of us will ever travel with them again. Read Less

Something has definately changed with RC and not for the better. I have been loyal to royal however, the last few cruises with them have been terrible. My last cruise happened to be my very first in carnival and unfortunately I spent this cruise wishing I was back on the carnival ship. Our stateroom was fine, had an inside room which we prefer. Asked for an extension cord and extra pillows qnd they were provided right away. The bathroom though, is the smallest I have ever seen on a ship before. The purpose for this cruise was a burial at sea for my father. We had prior permission from RC and were told to confirm details once in ship, which we tried to do. First trip to guest services, we met a lovely attendant who took our info and assured us an officer would be in contact later that day with the arrangements. That dudnt happen. 2nd trip to guest services, had to explain the whole thing over again and then said we could have the service anytime that day between 9am and 6pm., we chose 11am. 3rd trip to guest services, with my fathers cremains in tote, had to wait nearly an hour because they were in the middle of a guest services meeting. Seems like they either could have changed their meeting time or just informed us the meeting times so as we wouldnt interrupt them. But neither of those things happened, so here we are waiting for an hour, on christmas day, to bury my father at sea. We had a small ceremony and the officer called our coordinates to the captain who made a very nice certificate with the coordinates on it and it was signed by the captain himself. I must say that was unexpected and a very nice touch! Much appreciated! The dinner service in main dining room was terrible, food was cold and tasteless and not much variety. It seemed like they were a bit overwhelmed the first night, I had to duck and cover most of the time to avoid being hit by reaching elbows. We ate there 2 nights and in the windjammer the last 2 nights. Windjammer was much better. I do have to say that I found the cruise director cruisin susan to be very lackluster and boring. Didnt find her funny nor entertaining at all. I watched the love and marriage show which is usually very funny, but this time around, it was a snooze fest. She really made me miss my cruise director from carnival, Alex was the best cruise director I have ever seen. She could learn a few things from him. I'm ready to book my next cruise but not feeling so loyal to royal any longer as things have been on a steady decline. For me this cruise was a swing and a miss! Read Less

Picked the cruise for the date and port. Service is very good but the staff looks exhausted. Few activities. Activities manager is not happy with annoying customers. Missed CoCoCay due to weather. RC does not advertise how many times they miss CoCoCay which is billed as the highlight of the cruise. Nassau is not good. Blue Lagoon was not well maintained and they reserve the only good part of the beach for VIP customers. The food is bland. Freshly cooked and warm but bland. Did the bottomless mimosa brunch and galley tour. It was hit and miss. Did not care about employee of the month program and it seemed like they were stalling and filling time. Mimosas were good. The food was the same food you get at lunch ... nothing special and they don’t show the menu until you sit down so you don’t know that they are giving you less for $35 per person. The cruise industry is similar to the automobile industry ... some people get good deals and others pay full price for less. The boat cannot handle rough seas. We got tossed around too much for what little winds we went through. I do not recommend. Lobster, filet, lean steak, baked potato all cost extra. When you miss COCOCAY, you get nothing extra ... you just stay on the boat. Big disappointment and loss of value when you miss the port. Old boat. Tender ports will be missed due to even the slightes storm or winds due to safety reasons. They are deceptive. Plausible Ignorance is their motto. Website is useless. Customer Service line is poorly trained. Would love to sit down with the CEO in the park cafe and share a hard as rock stale cookie and a slice of cold pizza. Ask him if it is worth $1000 per person. The comic performed at 11:30 pm on the last day of the cruise only ... too late. Missed the parade of flags because it was too crowded. Pay for room service. Pay for coke. Pay for bottled water. Ice cream tasted like cardboard. Poor value. Read Less

The first night's dinner sent me to the medical facility with nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. I was diagnosed with gastritis. I knew it was food poisoning from dinner, but the medical staff would not even whisper the words. Little did I know then that a few cruises later the ship would return early because of a gastrointestinal outbreak. Embarcation was the smoothest I have seen for 6000 people. The dining room is not big enough for the staff to squeeze around each other between the tables with toddlers running around unsupervised by lazy parents. They removed the daily newspapers from the fleet, which we didn't like, and they added alot more shops and ways to charge you for what used to be free. The gratuities rose again. You can't eat breakfast until 630am, which left us and 75 other people waiting in line from 6am to 630am for the windjammer to open. You can no longer get coffee 24 hours a day or just sit in the windjammer reading in quiet. The sanitation of the windjammer has gone down. Servers walk right by dirty tables to chat with other workers rather than clean up tables in front of waiting guests. I cleaned up tables a few times myself. The tables in the windjammer were dirty from the night before when we entered it at 630am. Just terrible. Because I could not get a hot egg from the windjammer, (all are premade and cold) I had to ask Edwin, an officer, to please ask a cook to make me a hot egg. The quality of the food in the windjammer was awful. While we were eating, a staff member interrupted our breakfast to try to sell us dinners at the various specialty restaurants. They really push this kind of thing. They try to milk you at every turn. It gets old really quick. Drink Packages! Massages! Specialty Restaurants! Climbing Wall! Ice Cream! SHOPSHOPBUYBUYBUY! Want to watch a movie in your room? Fork over $11.99 honey. It used to be free, but not now. The quality of the guests has slid some too. For example, I saw a few children in diapers with their parents in the adult-only hot tubs. Really? Do we all have to marinate in your child's piss and poop? If you do this kind of thing, dear reader, stop! After many years on RCCL and Celebrity, we finally made Diamond level, which has nice perks, but even the Diamond lounge was not wheelchair-accessible. Big chairs block wheelchairs and scooters from getting to the lower level. There is no wheelchair access to the upper deck of the Diamond lounge. Stairs only. The Comedy shows and the Love & Marriage show came on way too late.I hears from several guests that the CATS show was great, just too darn long. We saw the synchronized swimming show and the ice skating show which were wonderful! For daily trivia games, the venue could not hold all of the people who wanted to play. This kind of thing is not difficult, RCCL. Come on now! The Scooner bar was not wheelchair accessible because of the pole. RCCL could have designed the bar a little different to allow for the width of a wheelchair, but they didn't. Our room steward was the worst guy we have ever had in our 29 cruises. He was supposed to know that we needed 2 extension cords for our cpap breathing machines, as well as distilled water for both of us. We could not go to bed for four long hours after we arrived in our cabin before the cords arrived. We never got the clothes hangers we requested so we had to live out of our luggage the whole time. Several times we came back from breakfast or dinner to a dirty cabin. Not once was our cabin vacuumed or dusted or trash cans emptied. After 4 days, he put hand soap in the shampoo dispenser! This seems to be the new RCCL standard of quality. Our mattress caused me back pain. Complaining about the room steward got us nowhere. Our room steward was, however, quick to call our attention to the tip envelopes. As a small perk, we got two soda cups which were good for only 3 drinks per day, but the soda machines were frequently out of ice. Your unsuccessful attempt at getting a drink was counted as one of your three allowed. The infinity adult hot tub was wonderful when it didn't contain a stray child in diapers swimming in it. The charge for laundry was way too high. Our cabin was located on deck 14 with an interior balcony. We never slept one good night because of the noise from constant music, screaming kids and running people on the deck right above us. Our first excursion was a dolphin swim at the Atlantis resort. The ship hauled us all in an old, ratty bus with my manual wheelchair hitting other guests and landing in the stairwell, which is unsafe and illegal for it to be blocking the exit. According to the shore excursions brochure, lunch was included. Not so! I had to spend $53 for a water and a fish sandwich that a gas station would refuse to serve, and argue with the shore excursions people to get reimbursed. While they were clearly in the wrong, they argued about how much we had spent. I got the cheapest thing on the menu! They referred us to the Atlantis resort operator instead of telling the truth that they screwed up. Most of the activities were geared towards children, and there was no quiet place to sit away from noisy children. During our 2nd excursion, at Buck Island, St. Thomas the captain of our boat accidentally broke my personal prescription lens snorkeling mask then denied doing it. She refused to replace it at first, but then handed me one of the lesser quality snorkel masks on her boat and called it even. I had to argue for the next 3 days with the shore excursions desk people that my custom prescription mask was worth alot more than the used mask she gave me. She didn't break my mask on purpose, but she didn't admit fault when it was clearly her fault. The third excursion was at St. Maarten, the Ultimate snorkle and beach. We saw 1 turtle, 1 ray, fire coral, and 1 very big something. We received a free specialty restaurant coupon from our wonderful travel agent so I ordered crab cakes. The crab cakes were full of corn with one tiny flake of crab. I saw the servers talking among themselves when they should have been working. I am certainly glad that I did not pay for this poor meal and even poorer service. We asked for the gratuities to be removed, but guest services would only remove two days worthfor only one of us in the cabin. I had to argue about that little oversight. In the main dining room, my food allergy was not remembered by the kitchen or the staff. Once I got all 3 courses at once! There was no room on my table for 3 courses, so my husband had to hold one plate in front of him. What's going on here? Basically we paid the same for this cruise but received an awful lot less. We are never going to waste our money on RCCL again. Read Less
