Superbly designed mid-size ship with an excellent crew

This 3200 passenger ship should get a design award. Instead of the ordinary round atrium, it has a four deck high Royal Promenade that has the feel of a New Orleans street with a party going on. Shop entrances are along the promenade and bars and a cafe spill out tables and chairs for seating. At various times there was big band dancing (with a most excellent ship's band), reggae, disco, and ...

We live just 100 miles north of Seattle, left home at 8:15 am and were on the Explorer at 10:50. In 20 cruises never before has the embarkation process been so smooth. Explorer was the only ship in port so I'm sure that helped the ports part but compliments to the Explorer staff. Entertainment on the ship was good. By far our favorite was the ice skating show "Seasons". It was performed ...

We hadn't done this itinerary. Wanted to see San Francisco. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite 2 days before cruise. Had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Embarkation was easy. No problem finding seat in Windjammer for lunch. Ate in MDR every night. Had lunch at Johnny Rockets one day. Cheese burger and chocolate shake b ( awesome ) Got spoiled each night at dinner ...

An Amazing Time On A Nice Ship

We chose this cruise due to the itinerary. Although I live near San Francisco I had always wanted to sail under the Golden Gate Bridge on Cruise Ship. It was well worth the wait! We sailed with two other couples and had a terrific time. We thought the ports would be fun, and they were. We spent 4 nights in Seattle at an AirBnB prior to cruise. From Embarkation to Debarkation the entire ...

Best "local" cruise ever

Wanted USA cruise. Excellent close/quick cruise.. Short flight and quick trip to pier. Checked in and on board in less than 10 min. Departed and in taxi in less. Ship in "like new" condition. Excellent ports that allow touring on your own. Try Bouy for good food and beer while in Astoria. They have glass floor for viewing sea life. Also, great area out side for water viewing. For SF - ...

Looked for a cruise to a location other than a beach. Pacific Northwest had stops in areas of the United States we have never seen so the itinerary was perfect. Seattle, Astoria Oregon, San Francisco and Victoria Canada. Explorer of The Seas is a wonderful ship. Although it shows a little ageing it is well maintained and very clean. The service was excellent, room attendant and wait staff ...

Another Great RCCL Cruise

We chose this cruise because we had never sailed from the Pacific Northwest and wanted to give it a try. Additionally, we liked the stop in San Francisco and Victoria, BC. Everything on this cruise was great, but that's what we have come to expect on a Royal Caribbean cruise! We found the food to be excellent, again, as usual. When I hear people complain about the food I have to shake my ...

Great cruise, great staff, fun ports

We chose this cruise because we had some RCCL gift cards that we needed to use. We wanted to cruise from a west coast port to save time and money. We live near Sacramento and drove to Seattle. We are two retired adults, mid fifties, and cruised by ourselves on this trip (we often have friends/family with us). Our last RCCL cruise was in 2005ish on the Monarch, so it has been several years since we ...

Great Family Cruise

We selected this sailing to visit our son during his semester break. As it turned out my two sisters and their husbands joined us for a great week. The ship was very nice with lots of things to do. We were busy with the family and didn’t spend as much time by ourselves as we normally do. Before talking about what we did I would just comment on the food selection. Our son is a vegan and has ...

Great experience for first time cruisers

Really positive experience overall, found the ship and most facilities clean and easy to navigate, although will add our first day embarking and settling in was confused, and some notice / info about needing Lanyards would have been good to know in advance. Also our stateroom was not set up for our family of four but just had two twin beds, which on boarding was a disappointment and meant delays ...
