Boat still in good condition, cabin was nice. MDR food was variable. Desserts on the whole were ok but the starters and main were usually luke warm when they arrived. Food was dry, not enough sauce or gravy so had to ask for extra. Lots of items removed from the menu, ie cheese and biscuits, melon medley. Waiter was friendly enough but had little personality, assistant waiter was great. ...
The idea of taking the cruise was to visit Amsterdam beforehand and cruise along Norway villages were the two countries that we wanted to visit for the longest time. We were disappointed with how old the ship was, everything is outdated. The $32 fee a day for a couple is for room cleaning but the toilet area ALWAYS smells like urine.
The service in the Tides restaurant was excellent, though all ...
This was our 7th Royal Caribbean cruise, and we chose this Russia and Scandinavia sailing because of both the cruise line and the itinerary. It was also our second sailing on Explorer of the Seas, so we have had prior experience with RCCL.
Our overall impression (which we seemed to share with many fellow guests) was that standards had been allowed to drop by RCCL.
Meals in the Sapphire ...
We booked this cruise after seeing advertisements on board our last cruise which shown the ship sailing through all these fjords which looked fantastic.
Highlight of the whole cruise was the port of Geranger which was fantastic to sail through to and really nice scenery once there.
Regarding the ship, having cruised on this ship many times we thought the recent refurbishments were catering ...
Used the ship because of the Norway itinerary, Fjords were grand. WE left from Copenhagen and visited Bergen, Geirenger, Alesune and Stavenger. We took small boat tours on two of the fjords. .
The food was average. Breakfast just OK. Dinner entrees were pretty good. The service was a bit better. Drink prices were about average with a dollar off draft beer for an hour each day. The ship was ...
Visiting the Norwegian Fjords was always on our bucket list and this cruise fit the timeframe we wanted to go and the ports we wanted to see. While the ship is older it is well maintained and very clean. The stateroom with a balcony had sufficient storage, comfortable bed and a nice couch. Staff overall were very friendly but I did have an issue with the shore excursion staff where there was a ...
Serenade of the Seas is an 18 year old ship that was the queen of the fleet when first launched but is now showing her age. We were told she is going to go through dry dock and updating in December of this year. Nothing about this Royal Caribbean Norway Fjords cruise was sub-standard or poor. Likewise, aside from visiting Geiranger, was outstanding on this cruise. This outside balcony cabin was ...
We have always wanted to do the fjords but were very disapointed I know the rain is not the ships fault but it rained every day and one port Flam had one shop which most of the 3000 odd guests headed to it took no time at all to visit this port as it was raining the ship was full to the brim so as usual no where to sit we spent most of our time in the cabin Not enough waiters in the bars if you ...
I was very impressed by how smoothly embarkation at Southampton went, we were on Navigator within 30 minutes.
I had never cruised with RC before, previously I'd used Celebrity, however I chose RC for the ports they were visiting.
I found the ship extremely busy, especially Windjammer, it didn't matter what time of the day I visited finding a table was very difficult if not impossible on some ...
Boarding process and Disembarkation were both Excellent
Ship: Bit tired looking and didn't really have a wow factor. Probably not helped by weather being poor and things look less well in the rain
Entertainment: Easily poorest we ever encountered. Only the Michael Buble, Juggler and Ice Show impressed. Other shows very disappointing
Windjammer: OK at best. Nearly always crowded and the ...
