We decided to try Royal Caribbean Arabian Gulf cruise because the weather in the area would be warm but not to hot at this time of year. The embarkation was not too bad, we arrived in Dubai about 7.30 after an overnight flight from London and had to wait till 11.00 to embark. the luggage arrived in our cabin about 6 PM. The ship is ideal size and still in good condition after the 2013 ...

For anyone travelling on a cruise ship for the first time I'm sure they will be suitably impressed and the ship is very well presented and of course great German engineering. For me the ship is too big with too many passengers - travelling up and down the crowded elevators seemed like I was in a commercial building going to work - and it's an all stops tour !!! We were constantly inundated with ...

having cruised with rc before we were excited about boarding ovation, good job the itinary was good the ship was the worst we have been on the staff didn't know what they were doing, the pool was mainly coverd, not much entertainment, food was always the same & cold, never heard so many people complain about a ship, going back on celebrity, you have to book to go into the 270 lounge, bumping cars ...

A Huge Let Down

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

We were really looking forward to cruising on a brand new ship with Royal Caribben. How disappointed we were! The ship is huge, cabins really nice but hardly any hanging space, no toiletries, had to ask the steward for some and got them on the third day. We have cruised many times with different cruise lines first thing I check is we have our life jackets in the cabin (just in case) not on this ...

New ship high expectations very disappointing cabin set out was good but no basic amenities supplied flat screen tv with basic repeat movies, movie channel available at a cost not enough activities available very boring when at sea for 7 days. My wife and I have just finished our cruise on RCCL “Ovation of the Seas “. We boarded the ship in Barcelona and disembarked in Dubai , we wish we would have got off in Rome (which was the first port of call ) . The ship is brand new ,this cruise is part of its Maiden voyage . The ship is built to a price not a recipe , how cheap can you build a big ship. The cabins are modern and ...

Terrible Cruise

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

(1) Impossible to communicate with the home office in Miami. Very poor customer service. (2) Check in at the port in Barcelona took forever. RCL's employee was letting all Platinum and above members through, while keeping the line for the Gold members at a standstill. It was faster going through the line for people who were not Crown and Anchor members at all. (3) The balcony was covered ...

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

One can see why RCL has a lot of loyal cruisers...lots of glitz and fun atmosphere. It appears the Diamond cruisers privilege include unlimited free alcohol from 5 pm to 8:30 pm. Many of the Diamond cruisers could be easily identified. It appears non Diamond cruisers are paying for the alcohol for the Diamond holders. There are extra charges for many things (galley tour, sushi, arts and crafts, ...

Positives Friendly and on the whole, helpful staff No corkage fee for any wine you bring to the restaurant. Very spacious room, (But we paid a premium for a Junior Suite) Very generous shipboard credit given in lieu of not being able to stop at a port due to security reasons. I have to say Royal Caribbean was not for me. I am used to, and prefer Cunard. I found there was ...

This Old ship of mine I gonna try to make it shine

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas

This cruise left a lot to be desired. This ship has not aged well nor has the refurbishment been a success. There was old carpet on the floors, there were strange smells throughout the ship, and more than one passenger had plumbing problems. It is time for a complete overhaul or the junk heap. My room was on the second floor and I could hear the rattles and coughing of what I guess were ...
