Major Disappointment

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Independence of the Seas

User Avatar

For my wife and I this was our very first cruise. We went to the Norwegian Fjords aboard Independence of the Seas. We booked this cruise as we were told that it was a great trip and the Independence had, according to the Royal Caribbean brochure "been given a makeover from stern to bow". This is not true, parts of the ship may have been changed, BUT our room certainly had not seen any makeover. I ...

RCL Independence to be avoided at all costs

We chose this cruise last September, 2017, to fit in with our kids school holidays and to celebrate our 55th Wedding Anniversary we took all l7 of our family for a memorable trip instead of a party. We had nothing but agravation from beginning to end. Firstly we used Cruise Kings, who were the worst company to deal with, incompetence, useless, and difficult from the very beginning, they did not ...

Over run with teenagers Butlins on the sea

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Independence of the Seas

after being on allure and anthem for previous cruises, independance was a true downgrade. We were so excited to experience Indy but didn’t realise what a difference the class of ship would mean. The teenagers took over hot tubs, drunk and swearing, groups loitering by stairwells, charging phones in hallways and being loud and intimidating. 6-8 yr old kids club was put in with 9-11 year ...

1st cruise booked as a special occasion for our 25th anniversary. Travelled with 2 children 11 and13 years. Cruise was overcrowded with queues for everything. Activities over subscribed. Staff looked exhausted and harassed and couldn’t cope with numbers on board. Communal areas dirty. Food in main restaurant was hit and miss and sent food back on several occasions, but because service was so slow ...

Royal keeps getting worse

It just keeps getting worse. I’ve been on 2 cruises before, all with Royal Caribbean and I thought they were ok but this year was bad. - Embarkation was smooth. - Breakfast was the same every morning ( sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs etc) I wish there were more healthy options. - Lunch was good, more varieties and new things every day - Dinner and service was good apart from Steak. I ...

Floating mall catering to kids in the North Atlantic

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

Its a floating mall with too many people and too few hours ashore at ports of call, The North Atlantic is too cold even at the height of summer: literally too windy and/or cool (or even rainy) to enjoy being outside for a good part of the time. Especially galling is RC letting guests reserve lounge chairs in the pool areas, when it was nice out, by leaving their towels and whatnot there as they go ...

Very disappointed with this cruise ship.Having high expectations after such a good time on the navigator last time as a family , this time not the case, from the time we got on the ship you could see that there was too many people on the ship,my first disappointment was the SWIMMING POOL AREA,Not enough sunbeds to cater for everyone which meant you either got up early to put your towels down or you ...

Far too crowded

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Independence of the Seas

I have been on many cruises over the years. The independence was a great ship ruined by corporate greed to introduce hundreds of new cabins at the expense of passenger enjoyment. It is now far far too crowded. Also the teenagers on board were not well controlled. They were throwing food around and were rowdy at night even putting plates outside a lift doors to try and trip people up. Bad ...

The cruise of the queues

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

We have been on Royal Caribbean before and have always found the ships and service to be fabulous. This cruise and this ship were neither of these things. The ship looks tired and dated and the obvious ‘cutbacks’ are the talking point of the passengers. On arrival in our stateroom, the usual toiletries have been replaced by a pump of shampoo in the shower, and a couple of slim soaps on the sink. No ...

Very disappointed with this cruise ship

We chose this ship as we enjoyed it so much last June. If the booking agent on ship had told us of the changes to accommodate more of families and teenagers we would not have booked. Not only has the ship got lots of entertainment for families but have increased the number of cabins but not increased the seating in the bars or general seating areas. In fact one night we wanted a drink before ...
