Not what I expected

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Independence of the Seas

The ship was beautiful, but dated. The shops on board a very good idea, but dated and very over priced, which I did not expect. The cabin was dated, had a tv, but only one English program. WFI over 12 dollars a day. The nets were creased dirty and torn, the pillow smelt of head sweat. The cost of the cruise was over £5000 for two so was not happy. Dining was very good could not ...

Great ports of call, cabin was a disaster

My husband and I were wanting to see the Baltic and this cruise itinerary was appealing and met our expectations. St Petersburg, Tallinn, and Bruges were particularly enjoyable and not all itineraries of the Baltic go to Bruges, so this was a bonus. The weather cooperated all but 2 days, so we were fortunate. The dining room food was perfectly fine for us and the service was great. The food ...

This was my 10th Cruise and 3rd with RC. I must say I was very disappointed how far RC have fallen. They are generally the most expensive so you'd expect everything to go well or if not, corrected PDQ. Within 30 mins of being onboard I'd had two waiters hassling me to upgrade my drinks package and 3 trying to sell specialist dining packages. This is the sort of behaviour I'd expect from a more ...

Wrong Ship for Baltic Cruise

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

Navigator of the Seas was the wrong ship for a Baltic Cruise: As no one was outside due to cool weather, there just wasn't any room anywhere on this ship to spend any time outside of your cabin. We were with a group of people and it would have been great if we were able to spend some time together on the ship (other than meal time). All venues were always fully occupied, with no place to sit. ...

had been on the independent a few years ago and had a great time bad mistake this boat is stuck in a time capsule old and tired staff in customer service mostly bored and unhelpful the furniture in the windjammer was old and scruffy the food at all sittings was barely warm the staff in the restaurant seemed to be everywhere stepping on each others toes it was strange to see so many people offering ...

Great ports; time to retire the Navigator.

We chose this cruise because we had never been to the Ports of Call and had cruised with RC in the past. The experiences had been exceptional. Not this cruise, however-- in the interval since out last cruise, the art of cruising has been replaced by the economics of cruising. It would seem that RC has followed the lead of the airlines and has unbundled many amenities and charged a la carte for ...

Wouldn't go again with RCI

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Independence of the Seas

Having travelled on RCI ships before, I was looking forward to this cruise. Biggest issues for me were the following: - poor food - really awful - poor quality and often cold - reminded me of hospital food - crowded - found the ship very crowded, had to queue for absolutely everything. - service - apart from the cabin attendants, I found most of the staff curt and unhelpful. - ...

Poor service and poorly maintained ship

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

I usually feel the product delivered by RCI to be consistent and usually above average.I found one member of staff on this ship who actually smiled and engaged with me. Most members of staff, especially the bar staff, seemed miserable and lacking in any desire to serve. Usually I look forward to dinner in the main dining room but our waitress was so grumpy I felt like I was an inconvenience to ...

Having cruised with RC before and also on this particular ship, we decided to give it another go. We were absolutely shocked that the service had significantly gone downhill, whilst the prices had rocketed! We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was not terribly different to the standard balcony cabin... Slightly more space, a bathtub & larger balcony, but nothing else for your buck... Not even a ...

Cruising is not what it used to be

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

Ship was renovated like a miniature version of Oasis/Allure. TV is limited with repeating shows shown in multiple languages. The safe feels like an oven when you pop open due to the equipment below such as TV and refrigerator. Given a choice between show versus dinner, we choose dinner since Windjammer close at 9pm. In the past it stayed open longer. During sea days, played Ping ...
