Falling standards

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Independence of the Seas

We have cruised with Royal Caribbean before and found them to be of good quality and good value. Not this time. Prices have gone up and standards have gone down dramatically. The main restaurant where food has always been good now resembles school dinners with such delicacies as mince and onions making an unwelcome appearance. I ordered scallops au gratin. The scallop had been diced into tiny ...

Member of the family arranged a trip for 17 of us. Was a bit wary as I thought I would feel claustrophobic but was all good. ROOM Was on deck 6 and an indoor cabin. Not much room getting round the king size bed if you choose a double room but the bed and pillows very comfy. Plenty of clothes space. There is a dressing table/desk with 1 small and 3 deep small drawers on each side. Up on the ...

This is our 10th Cruise, predominantly on RCL and Celebrity, but we have done Princess and P&O. as well. Went with friends who wanted to take lots of luggage, hence we chose a Southampton Sailing, to be honest, to Ports we had mostly done before. So a little apprehensive, we love the standard of Celebrity so a lot to live up to. Firstly embarkation was quick, although it was after two when the ...

The check in at Southampton was flawless and smooth. We quickly boarded the ship and as usual had to wait for our room to be ready. We were in an inside room overlooking the Royal Promenade and it was good. The Cruise Director Marc just "seemed to be going through the motions" of his job. We NEVER saw him other than at events, and even then. he was too busy to spend time with passengers. The ...

We are just back from a 14 night Navigator cruise from Southampton, to the Canaries and Morocco. I have to say I am a little disappointed and it feels like RCCI is slipping a bit in terms of quality and service in terms of the hotel experience. The Cruise Director 'Clo' and her crew were great and we had no problems with the entertainment on board or the Ports of Call (although we would ...

Beautiful Ship, Average Food

This is the first RCL cruise , we've done most other ship lines eg Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, HAL, MSC. The ship itself was excellent, and the cabin was larger than the other ships. Surprisingly, the food in the main dining room was average, with the meat items below average; would have rated it a 3 if not for the beautiful ship. The annoying thing was the constant upselling of their specialty ...

We were looking to return to Royal Caribean for a much needed holiday. Having previously had a wonderful experience with Royal Caribean over 16 years, we were very dissapointed to join the Navagator of the Seas and find a ship so tired in many areas and in need of major investment. The presentation and quality of the food in the dining room also had a great deal of room for improvement. Our ...

For the ports of call and the overall Royal Caribbean experience. We arrived on 9/29 at the air port by the RC transportation service who where on time, warm and welcoming. We decided not to come a day in advance but to fly directly to London and onto the ship. The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The overall experience was really great. The weather was a little colder than ...

Have just come back from this cruise and if you do not want to spend 14 nights without any sleep make sure you are not in room 9601or 9603. We spent every night being woken up at 1 and 3 in the morning by loud bangs and then the sound of gushing water. To be told that the main pipe ran through the room and they were emptying the Jacuzzi. On a positive note the main dinning room staff and room ...
