It was our 5th cruise with Royal and I was prepared to be WOWed .. Unfortunately the wow factor wasn’t there. Before sailing I got an email from RCCL stating that the gratuities will go up. This was our second cruise; the first was with Olsen. We thought the much more modern Brilliance would be better.
Embarkation was reasonably easy and straightforward.
The first night we ate in the Minstrel restaurant; MyTime dining however was a bit fraught, and we had a job to get seats. The food was OK, but service very average. From then on, we went to the Windjammer.

My first cruise on Brilliance and one of only a handful on RCCL. To begin our Scandinavian cruise I parked at Park Plus at JFK for $228 for 14 days. We booked our cruise after buying a Groupon in the USA. Our agent was professional and everything went smoothly. We were in England on vacation prior to the cruise, and we are very familiar with their trains. However, if for you that isn't the case, no worry, as there is an express train that goes directly to Harwich, with just a short walk to outside the door of the cruise terminal.

Food-- Upon boarding we went to eat. It looked like leftovers from the last trip. The mashed potatoes had no flavor or taste. I just can't describe them. Cold and tasteless I guess. If this had been my first cruise it would have been my last, it will be the last I do with Royal Caribbean. They need a lesson from P&O.
