Not the good old days but OK
"Pluses:
We had a balcony which is always the best way to go if you can afford it
Crew was always friendly with a smile and willing to help
Cabin Steward was excellent and met every need of ours (tipped him extra)
Dorado Beach Excursion in Puerto Plata was excellent, safe and beautiful and affordable
Check in and going on board took 5 minutes to Board the ship from the parking lot, although our ship came up from Florida with no passengers.Puerto Plata has a lazy river, Flow rider and pool while LaRomana has a large pool if you want to get off the boat without an excursion (did I mention FREE)
Minuses:
Some areas of the ship are tired (2007 Ship/2020 update)

I chose this cruise because it was going to Haiti and Dominican Republic, some of the elevator buttons don’t work, some of the elevator call buttons don’t work. We don't like flying so this ship sails out of the NY area. The ship itself is starting to look a bit worn. Our Balcony cabin was very nice. I’m writing this review to correct what I think were some inappropriately negative reviews that left out a lot of good things about this ship. I’ve done over 50 cruises, about half of them with Royal.
- This ship had the best gym of any ship I‘ve been on including Oasis and Allure. Just the presence of an Olympic bar adds a lot of value to the gym and the rest is very good too.

I would really like to give 1.5 stars, so I bumped it up to 2. I was overall pretty disappointed with this cruise. Embarkation was very smooth, one of quickest ever had. Cabins were not opened until 1:30 pm we were onboard before noon. Since you do not get your onboard cards until get to room you use your cabin number to charge drinks until then.
