"Cons:
Food in the main dining room was very mediocre at best, but the staff was phenomenal, and our table mates were so great, it made up for the lack of good food. The buffet was extremely crowded, could not find a table even in irregular hours, and after getting shoved and bumped a half a dozen times when we went for the one and only meal we chose, we only ate in the main dining room after that...."Read More

1-10 of 570 Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas Cruise Reviews for Fitness to the Western Caribbean
I am Diamond with RCCL and have enjoyed many cruises with them and other Lines. My cruise with Independence of the Seas was uneventful in that everything was pretty much what I have come to expect and enjoy with RCCL. here are some thoughts:
High lights the assistant cruise director from the Philippines was hilarious and ran the game and contests in an outstanding fashion - we has a show ...
Ship was well kept for an older ship. Our balcony stateroom was clean and nice. The cabin attendant ( Virasami ) was the best we ever had. Hard working (even when not around our cabin ) attending to our every need, and anticipating our needs.
Food in the main dining room was ok. Our waiter Saka was accommodating to our needs and wants. Our head waiter Hans, was a character. Nice but over ...
Overall I loved this ship and the stops. This was my first cruise so I have nothing to base it of but I'm mostly satisfied.
The ship is absolutely beautiful and elegant throughout most of it, the rooms are a bit dated but still cozy and comfortable. The beds were alright , nothing to write home about but the pillows were good. I do wish they came with fans in each room it was bloody warm in ...
We booked this sort of last minute on a Black Friday special and got a great deal. For a ship & itinerary selected primarily on departure date, we were both surprised and pleased how nice the experience was. This ship is large enough to have a variety of activities and amenities, but not so huge to be able to get around. It is a bit older, and shows in some spots but most areas look nice. Very ...
After speaking at length to an RC agent she assured me that sailing with RC would be a great experience and wonderful value. She mentioned that RC had been awarded best in class for the last few years. I told her I sailed once before on Carnival and it was Fabulous. She said this would be even better. Wish I could say it was. I won't sail with RC again.
Parking was close and convenient. ...
My best friend and I do a birthday cruise every 5 years or so, and we had been on this ship 6 years ago-pre-COVID. We were very surprised and how dated the ship was this year, needs lots of TLC. This is my ninth cruise on various cruise lines.
Pros:
Cabin steward was excellent and friendly.
Dining room staff phenomenal.
Veteran's tribute was lovely with a live band playing all the ...
I was pensive about the Pandimic regulations but was surprised at the ease and fluidity of the process from onboarding to debarkation. The lower occupancy rate led to a tremendous experience service wise. No lines, No waiting, Easy access to Dining and Entertainment, Casinos, Etc.
Staff was extremely friendly, Food was good, but limited offerings at buffet, I hesitate to call it "cruise lite", ...
We chose this cruise because it was a nine day, sailed from Galveston, and we had never been on this ship. We have sailed on 25 cruises with four cruise lines. This cruise was special because we have not been able to do much since March 2020. The embarkation, disembarkation and muster drill were AWESOME. Appointments for embarkation made it less stressful and very organized. Disembarkation ...
We had four cruises cancelled in 2020 and 2021 so this was our first since the Pandemic. Everyone over the age of 12 was vaccinated and I was very impressed with the protocols. We have been on over 25 Royal Caribbean cruises so know the types of activities they usually have on board. The ship was running at 50% capacity so there were no big lines or waiting for elevators. It was a relaxed ...
After having 4 booked cruises that were cancelled in the past year we were so happy to resume cruising. We celebrated my husband's Birthday on RCCL Independence of Seas and enjoyed every moment. Originally we booked a Balcony but we put a bid in for a Junior Suite when we received the Royal Up offer and we got it and it was totally worth it. The Crew and Officers were amazing and they were also ...
