Like smaller ships, less people, less fighting for seats, bartenders, etc. But you could tell the ship is getting old. Still worth a sail if you like the itinerary but would like to see newer, smaller ships come online because I wont sail on the 7000 passenger, costs an arm and a leg behemoths they are putting in service. Less amenities for sure but I do not sail to be running around all day. ...
The ship was old and outdated..it was very much clean and maintained. The food totally sicked big time. It seems they only tried to cater to asian and Indian food. The food tasted like it was prepackaged. Horrible food selection. The ship was boring and not much to do. The crap they were serving was very unappetizing. The crew was nice and friendly. The shows in the theater was so boring. They ...
My worst RC cruise was on the Grandeur, I know some people did millions of cruises on her from Baltimore but as an overseas traveller I just felt unwelcome starting from check in when they saw my British passport and asked if I was a visiting entertainer and finishing when no end of cruise excursions were offered. I deliberately booked a cruise from Barbados though and correctly assessed that ...
Just a little background info. This was our 3rd RC cruise. We have cruised 2 times on Celebrity and 1 time on Emerald Waterways. We were very pleased with our Adventure of the Seas Cruise and anticipated to have a great time on this one. We were only Gold ranked peeps on the ship and it was first apparent upon embarkation. We chose this cruise because of timing and we had never been to Key West ...
Last year we decided to plan a family cruise to include extended family. We chose Grandeur because most of our family lives in Maryland and we loved the idea of sailing out of Baltimore. We read lots of reviews on Grandeur and watched several YouTube videos. We have cruised several times before and we knew that this would be the smallest ship that we have experienced.
Embarkation:
It was ...
Ok so let me say again we had a nice time. The GOS shows her age but that's to be expected. The main reason for writing a review is to add a little ballancd. Out of all the reviews I read before 99% had the GOS walking on water and to be fair to her that's a tough act to follow.
The Great:
Cruise Director = Great
Activities Director = Great
Activity Staff = Great
Bartending ...
A little history first my wife and I have been on at least 15 previous cruises with Disney, Celebrity, Princess,NCL and bulk with RC. We live outside of Philly so it is almost the same drive time to NY, Bayonne, and Baltimore. We prefer to sail out of any of the FL ports, quicker in the warm weather. Love to cruise in the winter months to escape the cold for a while. We already knew a little ...
We were on the Grandeur in 2017 and enjoyed it with the wonderful Sherry as activities manager. Zumba and dancing in centrum were great. This time lack of activities was very evident. And when scheduled it was usually late starting or short in duration. Sometimes we waited and then activities manager would show up and say my bad I forgot to schedule staff. Very low standards. Not professional. ...
We chose this cruise for two reasons - to get out of the cold for 13 days and we did not have to fly to get to the port. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze; no issues whatsoever. We are frequent cruisers and this was about our tenth cruise on Royal and the oldest ship we have ever been on. The Grandeur's age was not a factor. She was clean and surprisingly in better shape than ...
Coming from CT and not wanting to fly, we chose Grandeur and Baltimore. We have little interest in RCI’s monsters from Bayonne, and NCL’s product is simply unacceptable on many levels. It is too bad HAL and Celebrity abandoned the huge NY market,
Amtrak to Baltimore beats a winter flight, and Grandeur’s reasonable size was enticing. While food quality and service level show the same ...
