Hard not to compare to Princess Cruises

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Liberty of the Seas

Several years ago, the wife and I took a Royal Caribbean cruise that fell below our expectations. After a few year hiatus from cruising, we decided to try a different cruise line. We settled on Princess Cruises and took back to back incredible vacations on board Princess, sailing out of Houston/Galveston, in 2014 and 2015 . We were disappointed to learn that Princess was no longer cruising ...

We left out of Galveston, Texas and it was pretty smooth getting checked in. Once we got to waiting to board area it was a bit confusing and the pressure sales for drink packages and dinner packages started. Once we got on the ship it was nice. Rooms were originally supposed to be ready at 1 pm. That changed to 1:30 and then 2 PM. Not a huge deal just would have been nice to know the exact time. ...

Sorta Nice, Short Cruise

We were onboard for a Destination wedding. Food was just average and baked pastries like donuts, rolls, buns, cookies tasted as if they were frozen and reheated. Orange juice is orange drink and I wish they would say so. Cabin was jr suite and 240 sq ft. Wonderfully comfortable. Plenty of storage! Some evenings in dining room had good food other nights were so-so. Desserts were unimaginative and ...

We chose this cruise because of the dates. We really wanted to get away and these were the best dates for both of us. The boat was nice and the food was fine to good. What wasn’t great was the constant upsell the first two days. I’m not going to spend $XX more for the “nice” steak restaurant when I can spend the same at home and know exactly what the experience is going to be like. Don’t want a ...

First time on RC. Competent but unmemorable.

We went with 4 other couples for a quick getaway. While we had a good time as a result of the company, our first time on Royal Caribbean was pretty unmemorable. We have sailed on Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity. I would put RC in the same general category as Carnival - low cost, unmemorable and constantly upselling. We really enjoy Celebrity (owned by the same company as RC I understand) ...

Overall positive experience

The ship was very clean and the food was great. The main dining wait staff was outstanding. All staff were kind and courteous. Embarking was painless, it was a very well organized process. There are so many things to do on the ship that on our cruising days, we still had plenty to do. Excursions: Cozumel, Mexico: We did the Jeep Tour. This was the most organized excursion that we had the ...

I chose this cruise because it was recommended. It was a late purchase so I didn't have much time to explore others. I wasn't looking for a party cruise nor was I looking for a sleepy cruise. A balance in between would have been nice. To be fair, there appeared to be many other passengers who were having a great time. I saw them mainly around the pool area drinking, watching t.v or listening ...

Hands-Down WORST Cruise EVER

Royal Caribbean really dropped the ball on this cruise. From the embarkation to the disembarkation the cruise was nothing short of a disaster. Lines were long, staff was rude, and the food was mediocre at most restaurants. The only word that the cruise line seems to know is NO. We asked for another wash cloth as only two were provided for three people and we were told NO. We asked for another deck ...

5th Cruise on Royal Caribbean. I'm always very pleased with the service and hospitality they can give to over 4,0000 guests. I wonder sometimes how they do it. Third cruise on Liberty of the Seas and although a beautiful ship and plenty to do, she is starting to show signs of wear from the carpets in the hallways to the rust spots on some of the outside of the ship. Nothing major at all, but ...
