We had not been with this company before, and we were expecting this cruise to be better than the cruise we did with another company the week before. Strangely enough, we enjoyed the other cruise, but not this one.
Where do we start? In our opinion we felt that Jewel of the Seas desperately needed a refurbishment, and until this is possible, we felt that a good clean and a lick of paint would ...
We were on deck 11 and it was a nightmare. Every morning between 6.15 am - 7.30am and later thats all we could hear was thump thump thump which was coning from the jogging track. I obviously complained several times as I was not on holiday to be woken up at that time of the morning every day. You couldn't even stay late in bed because of the continual noise above. The front desk was made aware of ...
This was my 1st cruise and probably last. Entertainment and lectures uninspiring. Woman who gave lecture of forensics looks like just fell out of bed. 1 night had singer in Schooner bar competing with Spectrum big band because lack of theatre space as shows were practising. Food from Winjammer plentiful, repetative but constantly cold. Breakfast line for cooked eggs 6 deep every day. Drink ...
I hardly know where to start as I found the whole experience very disappointing.
It seems one third of the ship is given over to the silver/gold suites and areas, one third to Seaplex (which I'll tell you about) and the last third was for everyone else to squeeze into. There were 3 x swimming pools (2 of which were indoors!) and each had a capacity limit of 26 persons!!! Obviously the limits ...
We enjoyed the places we visited on the cruise but not the ship - food was not great, very poor maintenance with rust everywhere, things broken and missing including furniture and chairs in lounges and public areas, and the office staff and management uncaring and not obliging. It lacked the lounges and bars and the forward located crow’s nest outlook of the smaller Holland America boats. Alcohol ...
We picked this so we could go to Petra. The other stops were useless--Athens on Easter Sunday? Everythihjng was closed. Israel on Good Friday? Everything was closed. They should have planned this better. Onboard, lectures and trivia were great. Dining room food was fine, but service was lacking. Windjammer was typical. What they call "mousse" is some kind of whipped jello. Pavlovas were ...
An extremely friendly ship, the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
Other than that we were very disappointed in the ship.
The interior cabin was so small it was unbelievable, the furniture was old, chipped and not the cleanest. The bathroom appeared to have had an upgrade but what I couldn't believe is that the ship does not provide toiletries and the single bar of soap ...
Embarkation turned into a disorganised chaos when the gangway started moving.
The cabin was a good size but why no mini fridge or bathroom requisites. We knew from experience that the water in the cabin would cost more than a pint of beer in a shoreside pub so we declined it. Drinks generally were very expensive and the addition of an 18% service charge is a rip off. Inside this ship was ...
My wife and I have been cruising since 1992 so we have a wide experience. I would probably put this in the lower end of ships we have been on.
First the good: the staff was very friendly and eager to help. The restaurant food was quite good and a good variety.
The not so good. First there is the tipping. As I'm from the British Isles we usually tip depending on what we want to give. If ...
Chose this cruise for Dubai stay, time of year for weather and because friends rate cruising.
First impressions of ship not good, dingy and full, cabin okay no toiletries, pillows stained and Grubby, advised we would be able to be upgraded but told no.
Bingo and Belly Flopping contest smacked of Butlins 30yrs ago not what was expected.
Sun beds slatted and uncomfortable, pool music ...
