We did a weeks cruise from Dubai getting on the ship was easy and we were on for lunch time The cabin was ready B3019 plenty of hanging space and a good size all I would say was the shower was small but not a problem. We found the food very good with plenty of choice and hot the service in the dinning room was also good. The food up on deck 9 was good with plenty of choice. All the staff were very friendly and polite.Khasab was our first port and we got the free bus to town but not a lot to see. Second was Muscat with an over night stay and we walked into the souk.Abu Dhabi we had a free bus to a mall. And as we were staying in Dubai we stayed on board We had no trouble with sun beds and on the sea day the staff did take things of beds that had been on for a long time.We really enjoyed the cruise and wouls use them again. An extremely friendly ship, the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Other than that we were very disappointed in the ship. The interior cabin was so small it was unbelievable, the furniture was old, chipped and not the cleanest. The bathroom appeared to have had an upgrade but what I couldn't believe is that the ship does not provide toiletries and the single bar of soap had to do for the shower and basin. Loo paper was rough ! Storage was ok. We had two litre bottles of water left in the room of which we drank. We had a charge of $12 on the bill under the heading 'mini bar'. We didn't have a mini bar when I questioned it - it was because we had drank the water. The food was ok,not the standard we have had on other ships. The entertainment was appalling - there was very little of it and what was on offer was very poor quality. The programme didn't run to enable people of both the earlier and later dining times could both see everything. A Frank Sinatra tribute was on from 9-10, second seating was 8.30, no chance to see, just one example and the same sort of thing happened for the earlier dining time. The decks were sooooooo tight with sun beds , no small tables to put drinks on. It was impossible to get on your own sunbed from the side, you had to crawl up from the bottom as the beds were so tightly packed. I WILL NOT CRUISE AGAIN WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN even it is the offer of the year. Read Less

My wife and I have been cruising since 1992 so we have a wide experience. I would probably put this in the lower end of ships we have been on. First the good: the staff was very friendly and eager to help. The restaurant food was quite good and a good variety. The not so good. First there is the tipping. As I'm from the British Isles we usually tip depending on what we want to give. If we're told what to tip then it's actually a cost and not a tip. You have to pay 18% on all drinks which are expensive enough to begin with as the pound is not doing so well against the dollar. In fact you have to pay 18% on everything you buy. A friend of mine got a massage at over $100 and had to pay 18% of this on top. Plus there's the tip that's taken out every day unless you go to the desk and ask for it to be removed. You used to be able to do this over the cabin phone but now it must be done in person. I suppose they want you to feel to embarrassed to do this in person. I usually don't mind doing paying this but on this ship I did for a very minor reason. But it really annoyed me. We flew from Dublin with Emirates and this company will only let you print out boarding passes two days before the flight. Going of course was no problem. But coming back we would be on the ship, and we weren't going to pay sea Wifi prices. Our travel agent told us the ship purser should do this. I know you can print them at the airport, but my wife and I are not that computer savvy and we prefer to have everything we need in a folder before we travel. Well, two days before our flight home I approached the desk and asked if they could print them for us. You'd have thought I'd asked for him to sail the ship to my home from his reaction. He looked at me with complete disdain. ''We don't offer this service,'' I was told in no uncertain terms. Not even a hint of an apology. ''You can buy our internet package.'' At $17/day this wasn't going to happen. I'd been with other cruise lines where requests like this were not a problem. At the rate I was paying out on tips this should not have been a problem. Our shore excursions were paid for before we left and were very well handled. I would also point out that the entertainment left something to be desired. One of the activities was a 'belly flop' around the pool. The passengers provided further entertainment when there was a ''Mr and Mrs'' contest which embarrassed the people taking part due to its sexual innuendo. Some of it was overtly sexual, like a cheap seaside entertainment. Any cost that could have been cut was done. The toilet paper was about the thinnest you could get. No toiletries. Water in the room which you had to pay for. If you're going to a particular location I would recommend you look for another carrier. Read Less

Embarkation turned into a disorganised chaos when the gangway started moving. The cabin was a good size but why no mini fridge or bathroom requisites. We knew from experience that the water in the cabin would cost more than a pint of beer in a shoreside pub so we declined it. Drinks generally were very expensive and the addition of an 18% service charge is a rip off. Inside this ship was very clean but omg outside this was the dirtiest cruise ship we have ever been on. We never saw a deck attendant for the whole seven days. Puddles were never cleared. There was sand on deck after a rainstorm and this was just left where it fell, as was the fall of soot from the funnel which contaminated the after decks and the passengers on one sunny afternoon. The sunbeds were filthy. We doubt they had ever been cleaned with the grime ground in to the plastic. Excursion staff failed to deliver tickets booked for trips and this was only resolved by a frantic dash to the tour desk shortly before the tour was due to depart. Not a word of explanation or apology was forthcoming. The food was generally good and the service excellent with one exception - I am still waiting for my breakfast porridge!!! The timing for entertainments made attendance at several of the shows inconsistent with fixed time dining. Other cruise lines seem not to have this problem. Curates egg (good in parts) sums this up. We were fortunate to share a table with experienced Royal Caribbean cruisers who agreed with us about this ship, however they assured us that this was not the usual Royal Caribbean standard. It seems that the Royal Caribbean watchword is "that'll be extra". Read Less

We chose RC because we have been with them before and they were excellent. This ship has passed its sell by date. The sun loungers are old and some of them broken. As always they have signs prohibiting you from reserving chairs and leaving them unoccupied for more than 30 minutes, and restricting the 9th floor pool to adults only but these rules were not implemented although there were " security guards" . You can tell the age of the ship around the window frames and the cabins are nothing special. We didn't have cold water it was warm and very unpleasant to clean your teeth wth. They tried to fix it but they couldn't because some where along the line the hot water pipes were touching the cold water pipes. If you wanted shower gel YOU had to ask for it. Maid very nice and pleasant. The dining room was good and the service was EXCELLENT thanks to George and Julius 4th Floor table 190. The food was good although portions on the small side. Wines VERY expensive silly prices, however three days into the cruise , bottles of wine were offered at 60% reduction and you could take them to the dining room if you wished! The entertainment was ok but it reminded me of Butlins. Service on board overall was very good, however if you go to the Gym the guy that was supposed to be looking after us spent more time with the entertainment manager than helping us the paying guests! We stopped at a place called Khasab - what a waste of time nothing to see or do. The majority of fellow passengers lasted 5 minutes in this place before returning to the ship. Oman, Muscat two days in this place was too long as after you have seen the Grand Mosque and few other bits there was no much to do, in my opinion. Abu Dhabi to be honest with you I can't remember much about the place. The service charge at 18% is far too high, but having said that, the staff believe it or not if they have a drink they also have to pay yes you guessed 18%. I don't know how true this is but I was told by a few members of the staff that the prepaid gratuities are going to Head Office in Miami and if they are lucky they might get 20% of the share. This was the first time I have come across on a cruise that if you wish to dine in other restaurants you have to pay considerable $$$$. There is a cash ATM that dispenses only $$$ they charge you $6.50 per transaction plus what ever rate of exchange they apply. Would I recommend this cruise NO! Read Less

Overall good cruise. Fantastic service from stateroom staff, along with the service from concierge lounge. The service in the reception and shore excursion was at an all-time low - but overall good service other places. We were surprised at how good the food was in the aquarius restaurant with good service. A bit noisy, and with "forced seating" with strangers at our table (made good friends though!) but overall a nice experience. Dining in the windjammer, not so good. Ports of call was an interesting mix. Khasab was not at all interesting. We made an excursion by bus through RCCL - but the most horrendous guide ever. Also made an excursion in Muscat (much better location), but again guide subpar quality. Another guide in Abu Dhabu - better this time, but still not worth money nor while. My tip for this itinerary; stay onboard or book excursions yourselves, especially if you are under 40 years of age. Read Less

We booked this cruise on the itinerary alone, being a part of the world we had never seen. We were without kids on this trip and having never cruised before on such an old and comparatively small ship we did have minor reservations about this when booking - although being RCCL 'veterans' we had a good idea what to expect! At this point I have to say (and not for the first time) that those who continue to describe ships of a certain age as 'tired' or 'showing their age' are clearly not researching what exactly they are booking. In this day and age all the information you require about anything is easily available so if you don't bother to check it out before you go and adjust expectations accordingly you've only yourself to blame. Making comparisons with Anthem or Oasis or Freedom is just plain ridiculous. In my opinion it's a little harsh to criticise upon your return. First impressions of the ship as you approach her are indeed of a vessel that has been in service for almost 20 years. Once inside however, it is standard Royal Caribbean throughout with all public areas looking pretty damn good after the refurbishment of a few years back. That said, the Solarium if you look closely is in need of a tidy up in places, but we thought everything else was absolutely fine. Our cabin on deck 8 had what looked like a new bathroom and a new mattress and we had no issues with it whatsoever other than some occasional noise from the pool deck above - which we half expected ( research again! ). What really left an impression on us were the crew. Our steward Antonio was possibly the best we've had, whilst Carolina and Vasyl in the dining room were top notch - the latter the best assistant waiter of our 15 cruises. Food in the main dining room was also as good as any we'd had previously, and Giovannis in particular was excellent. For this cruise I'd mark the Windjammer down a notch though, perhaps due to the local availability of certain ingredients. To sum up, we were pleasantly surprised by this ship and if you like cruising and are going on holiday with the intention of relaxing and enjoying yourself then you'll have a good time on the Vision. We will certainly consider another ship of this size for future cruises. Read Less

Chose this cruise for Dubai stay, time of year for weather and because friends rate cruising. First impressions of ship not good, dingy and full, cabin okay no toiletries, pillows stained and Grubby, advised we would be able to be upgraded but told no. Bingo and Belly Flopping contest smacked of Butlins 30yrs ago not what was expected. Sun beds slatted and uncomfortable, pool music loud. Plastic plates in self service restaurant awful and not what you would expect, food also poor in my opinion and generally cold ughh!!!. In main dining food good but how many times does my name need to be said throughout meal and why do you always get asked if food okay when your mouth full? To long in Muscat, trips long and over priced, shorter and later trips would be good. Variety in theatre okay caterd for most tastes and lounge music good on the whole. To sum up not an experience I shall be repeating and will rate as one of my worst holidays. Read Less

We decided to stay the first night in Dubai prior to boarding the cruise due to landing in Dubai at 0730 and only being allowed onto the ship after 1230. We have cruised with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity on previous occasions and found them to be second to none. This cruise was very disappointing. The ship is clean but tired. The minute you arrive at the port terminal its a 'hard sell'. Nothing comes free with Royal Caribbean! The photographers are hounding you for photographs every time to get on/off the ship. Each night at dinner we were asked to pose for photographs, even though you were eating your meal. Water in the cabin is charged. The drinks packages come at a hefty price. £300 each will enable you to beer/wines/spirits/cocktails. They tell you that after your 5th drink you will be "Quids In",. What they don't tell you is that the wine isnt the best quality and if you want that, its extra! If you decided on the package, both of you have to take it, not just one. Of course this is to stop one person ordering drinks for two. If you want to dine in any other restaurant than the dinning room, its extra. We sat on a table with 4 other passengers who have all cruised in excess of 40 times. This awarded them the Diamond membership. They all complained that the standards of Royal Caribbean have deteriorated over the last 12 months. The menu in the dinning room was on the main good but very limited. On two occasions our party had to request different meals because of problems with the food. The entertainment on board on the whole is carried out by the crew. Dancing with the crew, Mr & Mrs in the theatre, Guess the song, all very Butlins. The 7 day cruise started in Dubai, Kasab, Muscat for 2 nights, at sea, Abu Dhabi then return to Dubai. There is very little to do in Kasab or Muscat. The city tour of Muscat was $68 each and the highlights were a small market and the Mosque. Abu Dhabi and Dubai continue to be the highlights. Chose the cruise as part of longer stay in Dubai. Embarkation process was smooth. The main reason for writing this review is to set some facts straight about the drinks packages. My wife and I are not big drinkers, but do like a drink when we want one. The inference we drew was that we would be very disadvantaged if we didn't commit to a package at leat 3 days before sailing. We would only have been interested in the alcohol inclusive one, which was £45 per day each times 7 days, plus 18% gratuity. A breathtaking £743.40. Very difficult to find the following info anywhere so here it is. The Windjammer restruant is open most of the day and the area immediately outside is open 24/7. The Windjammer offers free water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit drinks all with or without ice. The area outside offers tea, coffee and water. The Park cafe from 2-6 most days offers the wider Windjammer range. So you do not need to buy a package!!! Don't rush to buy it, unless offered precruise discount as available at Port and all first day aboard the ship, so take your time. You can carry drinks around the ship and lots do. If you want a drink you can just buy them when you like. Some thought they were good value, others not. You will pay $12 for a glass of wine, plus 18% gratuity. Just think about that. Some (few) took full advantage of the package and were clearly smashed for the whole cruise. Who is irresponsible here?. Shore stops were uninspiring, Ladies beware you really need to cover up, with no see through cover all if you want entry to a mosque. Food was good, waiting staff in main restaurant were mixed in enthusiasm and rather slow. Orlando Othennez was very good indeed. If you do go on this cruise enjoy it for what it is. Entertainment other than nightly show was hi de hi at best, but feature shows did perform. When in your cabin, look around you, we had a larger ocean view. You are in effect standing in a 1970s caravan!! Read Less

I chose this cruise for its itinerary. Checking in and embarkation was excellent, however the first area I visited was the pool and I was disappointed as it looks tatty and the sunbeds are horrible. Never seen any thing like these before. Like wide elastic bands with gaps in between. Next was my room. A large outside, it was a good size and the bathroom was great. However, the room had dated old cupboards and scratched and dented wood. Dented old ceilings. Needs refurb for sure. The room attendant was very efficient and friendly. The food onboard was fairly good in the the windjammer although the toast is like cardboard. Aquarius is ok. I have to say though that I am still suffering with a bad stomach and have been home 4 days now. I only ate and drank on ship so something got me on the 5th day and spoilt the rest of my cruise. Entertainment is quite good. Comedian very funny. The centrium gets a bit boring with same Vicky and the Holding crew playing nightly. Beware also as they give you a cd to buy only to find out it is $20!! Music round the pool is loud and very off putting also football matches on big screen whilst you try to sun bathe so not at all peaceful! The luxury drink package is very expensive at £45 a day with an additional 18% surcharge! They also give small measures and loads of ice so you have to ask for more spirit in order to taste it. I didn't use the excursion service as I find it cheaper and just as easy to arrange my own. The staff are lovely and helpful all except one toilet attendant who was very rude. Disembarkation was very well organised. All in all I would not cruise on here again on any Royal Caribbean with same packages and noise around pool I'm afraid. Read Less

Just Returned from a 3 night Dubai stay and a 7 night cruise vision of the seas, paid £1198 each, Atlantis palm hotel stay superb, transfers very good and embarking the ship very good DINNING area and waiters i thought were good and professional, i thought the food was good not as much choice as some ships ENTERTAINMENT i thought this was very poor, there was a dance floor and music every night in the main centre of the ship, this was good, nice seating and sociable area, and the group was good, in the THEATRE we see a 60s group these were good and the last day an entertainer, but apart from that the shows were terrible, we see a hypnotist show was ok but after speaking to someone the show he said he was never hypnotised just went along with show, without the casino we would have been very bored unless you can sit there and read a book. POOL AND SUN BATHING i though was good plenty of sun loungers and clean towels, plenty of areas in the shade or the sun pool and Jacuzzi was clean GENERAL STAFF in dinning room bars etc i think they do a superb job in making you holiday pleasant and always want to help and 99% are always very polite. THE CAPTAIN was superb, very informative about cruise, mixed with the passengers would always stop and talk even preformed a couple of songs with his crew, he really made passengers feel welcome and you got that feeling he really wanted you to have a good cruise. BIGEST PROBLEM WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN ALL they want is your MONEY, charges for Excursions and Drink Packages are VERY expensive, The casino charge you a FEE to change money to spend on their ship, chanced £100 got $108 back and some small change, and to change back the wanted $135 to get my £100 back, Price for drinks and water is expensive, You make a COMPLAINT just fobbed off with same old story ok we will look into this NEVER NOTHING DONE, we complained to office on customer service desk and even took her email address and sent email as well STILL NO REPLY. THERE ARE PLENTY of other CRUISE COMPANIES out there with lovely ships, and prices a lot cheaper than RC and a lot better value for money. RC will be last on my list when booking my next cruise. This cruise was part of a package whch seemed to good to be true at the price, We travelled as a group of 4 who are very experienced cruisers. The embarkation ran very smoothly and efficient, but we were some of the first to get on board. FOOD Whilst we were waiting for our luggage to arrive to our cabins we decided to go to the main restaurant to book our ANY TIME DINING as we had prepaid our gratuities to enable us to dine whenever we wanted. The receptionist advised us that the times we were looking for were not available due to all these times were apparently prebooked on line, we explained that we had prepaid our gratuities to be able to dine any time, she replied that the prepaid gratuities were her wages. No manager was available until the evening. We spoke to the manager that night who agreed that we should have priority for sittings but none were available and advised us to go to reception so that a refund could be arranged which we did but the refund took 25 days to arrive. The food at the restaurant was so dissapointing with reconstituted meat (ie. Chicken & Steak), the presentation was very poor and not very appetising and tasteless. LIVE SHOWS. There was only 3 glitsy shows during the week which was very disappointing. DRINKS PACKAGE We were advised by Royal Caribbean to take a drinks package as there was only tea & coffee available at breakfast and that all drinks (including water) would have to paid for, we concluded that it would be wise to have the basic non alcoholic package. When we got on board the ship there was plenty of free tea, coffee, fruit juices and water readily available to everyone. Booked this cruise because of the price mainly and the timing was just right. After reading some of the reviews was a little worried but on getting aboard these vanished. Had an ocean view cabin on deck 2. Plenty of space for all our luggage loads of coat hangers etc. One small complaint, not enough information, for instance, where to get towels for sunbeds. We were on anytime dining and didn't book any of our evening meals, had no problems and didn't have to wait to be seated. Food was very good in all of the venue's, didn't go to any of the speciality restaurants so cannot comment on these. Entertainment was not as good as some of the other cruises we have been on hence the four stars, the only highlight being The Revolvers, a sixties tribute band. Didn't do any activities and I think the activities team had to work hard on this cruise to get people to join, on the "sexiest man competition" only one man turned up so he got the prize. Shore excursions were organised well with only one unfortunate holdup that was out of anyone's control. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and overall helped make the cruise far better than expected. Read Less

chose for the itinerary. We wanted to see Dubai, and thought this would be a great way to do it. We were not happy that it was on R.C. but did it anyway. I was very pleasantly surprised. We did not find the ship worn out as some other reviews have stated. The public rooms, showroom and lounges were in very good shape. the crew could not have been more friendly and helpful. We had a suite that was very nice with a wonderful balcony. My wife and i are not major cruise takers, but we have been on Princess, Disney, and Crystal. Disney and certainly Crystal are in a very different class than Royal Carib. Princess about a step above. The main negative we had was the food. Breakfast and most lunch items were fine. The pizza was the worst i ever tasted. When it came to dinner is where it got really bad. The selections were not the problem, just the finished product. The kitchen would have been better off opening a jar of Ragu for their pasta dishes than what they served. I am not going to go further with the food review, since it wasn't that important in our overall experience. Read Less

The ship: We have cruised many times before including Princess, Celebrity, and RC. We travelled as a party of six, all but one had cruised before. This was the smallest ship any of us had been on and we were interested to see how it compared. We all enjoyed our stay on the ship, it was in good condition and well maintained. We certainly wouldn't worry about booking a cruise on this size ship again. Cabins: The cabins we had were all on deck 2 (all inside)which is the lowest deck we have all stayed, it wasn't a problem and sometimes an advantage (getting off the ship). The cabin was very clean as you would expect, the shower had a curtain which wasn't the end of the world for us. We was surprised there wasn't a fridge but then though do we really need one? not really there normally too small anyway. Dining: We all found the dining experience to be a pleasant one, good food something for everyone with the hard working friendly staff that can't do enough for you. Entertainment: As this is a smaller ship it would be unfair to compare (as I think many do) with the larger ships, things are on a smaller scale, but there was still two main productions in the theatre along with some other good acts on other nights. Plenty for everyone ! Service: As good as any we have had on other ships, a very high standard, a great team. Ports: We booked all our trips away from RC (mainly because they did the same but cheaper) Oman,Khasab We did a boat trip which was nice and relaxing, we also saw some dolphins, a must do! Oman, Muscat: We were here for two days, we did a general tour which took us to a beautiful mosque, Muscat is a nice modern friendly place a real eye opener, it got the thumbs up from us. Abu Dhabi: We did a general tour which took in the mosque which is amazing! Dubai: Many of us have been before, it's a popular place to visit. We went to the Global village which was really worth a visit, we was there for over six hours and didn't see it all we only left because we were worn out.Note:ladies have to cover their knee's or they won't get in. Taxi from the ship cost 90 dirham back cost 70 (lighter traffic). Getting a Taxi in Dubai: General rule if your not on the meter don't get in, the first taxi turned the meter off and basically stitched us up 90 dirham when it should have been nearer 50 ! Read Less

We were looking for something not too expensive and an alternative to our usual winter week in the sun in the Canaries. This met the bill and the itinerary looked interesting as neither of us had been to that part of the world at all. Thoroughly enjoyed our week and we thought everything on board was very good. Yes, of course, one can always find fault but we were pleased with our week and would recommend Royal Caribbean and the ship. Not sure about the ports of call and Dubai didn't do it for me at all but I'm glad to have been there at least. Some people we met on board thought the ship looked as bit "tired" - well she's certainly not brand new but many areas have been modernised and the ship was clean so I do not agree with the "tired" comment at all. Staff were very good and one or two were exceptional. The Captain was keen on keeping everyone up to date and he and his senior officers were visible throughout the week. We used MyTime dining which we preferred and we ate twice in the restaurant and four times in the Windjammer (and one night ashore). We didn't try any of the speciality restaurants. Since both of us are trying to watch our calorie intake there was plenty of healthy food on offer and we drank hardly any alcohol at all during the week. What alcohol we did drink we thought to be a bit expensive. The Classic Soda package was fine for us and we reckon it worked out just worth it and no more. One gripe - 18% added to everything on top of everything purchased I thought as bit steep as there is already a daily charge per person for gratuities (which we asked to be removed from our bill and this was done without a problem and without question). As I said - we'd use Royal Caribbean again and recommend it but we won't be going back to the Arabian Gulf even though the weather was wonderful and the sea flat calm throughout. Read Less

We were on it last year and it was impressive but we knew this would be nothing like it, we chose this for the price and the itinerary as it was different from anything we’d done before. The ship is older yes but it is clean and well maintained, the staff were also fantastic on this ship so friendly. Breakfast in the main dining room was excellent, as long as you’re not in a rush as the service was pretty slow. We had lunch in the windjammer just about every day and no complaints whatsoever, food fresh, hot and plenty of choice. I was a bit disappointed that the main dining room only opened for lunch once but not a huge deal when the windjammer was so good. The staff were great in the windjammer and we always managed to get a glass of wine near enough as soon as we sat down. Dinner in the main dining room was very good but service was hit and miss, very slow on formal nights. If we had realised this we would have done our speciality restaurants on those nights, chops was good but not great, we ordered scallops and they were not good at all, it was the quality of the scallops though and not the cooking of them so a bit disappointing, Giovanis was excellent, we also did chefs table for a special treat and it was very good but it didn’t match up to giovanis. We felt it was very long and drawn out, it lasted around 4 hours. Entertainment was a bit hit and miss, the beatles celebration was fantastic and the other headliner show was too but other than that not our cup of tea. However plenty of different bars/areas to choose if you didn’t like something. The centrum usually had something going on in it or the karaoke was a good laugh. I would agree with many others who have said that there weren’t enough sun loungers but we always manged to find somewhere eventually. As many others have said the captain was great on this ship, really friendly and even entertained us a few times with his singing! The ports were great, not much in khasab so do a tour – we did the dhow dolphin cruise for half a day was totally amazing. Muscat was really interesting did mystical muscat though cruising excurions, Abu dhabi we did our own thing and got taxis everywhere, they were so cheap and for us it was the best way to see exactly what we wanted. In dubai we went to see the old town , very interesting and totally different from glitzy/glamourous Dubai. Some great bargains so be had at the souk at the river. Overall we had a great week and would recommend the ship! Read Less

After a terrible experience at the port I could not wait to get on to Vision of the Seas. I should explain that at this point that Royal have no involvement with the port authorities. When Mangesh our Concierge and the Guest services manager found out what had happened the Royal Customer care wheel came in to play. I was treated so kindly and they both listened to what had happened to me and could not believe my experience. I was offered some compensation but I turned it down as I said before Royal have no control over the port authorities and I thought it unfair for Royal to compensate me. Now as for the rest of the ship and holiday it was great and with Captain Merek on board I new it was going to be a great time. I was on Vision in December and it was good to meet up with some staff from previous cruises some were still on board and welcomed me back it was so nice. Captain Merek was very visible through out the cruise and took time to speak to everyone and become involved in the activities and entertainment. Vision is getting on in age but I think still in great shape well maintained and cleaned constantly. My cabin steward was amazing and hard working thank you, my cabin was 7613 an inside ideal for me being a solo travel. The food was really good and our waiting staff on table 152 were just amazing and a lovely surprise for me was the wine waitress from Harmony. I do enjoy the Diamond lounge and the Concierge lounge and Mangesh works so hard spending time with everyone he has a great pride in his work I met so many nice people there. I also have to say the breakfast staff in the Main Dining room were truly amazing and caring. I did the bridge tour again and this time Captain Merek showed us around it was the best experience I have ever had on a tour. I should point out at this point that earlier in the day we had a very close fly past. It was a twin engine (Iranian I was told) transport plane the pilot must have been crazy especially when he flew very close to the pool deck on his return. The Captain and was taking a question time and was very calm and professional I have to say it was an experience I would not like to repeat again. Captain Merek is a real credit to Royal Caribbean. I have recently done this trip so I cannot share any experience on trips or shore excursions. The bands and the singers I saw were totally amazing and the Captains singing voice is fantastic. The staff and crew were always kind and friendly and work so hard thank you to you all Read Less

This ship was a huge dissapointment after hearing that Royal Caribbean was a great line. To begin with, you have to ask for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel..they are not automatically put in your cabin. When they run out, you have to ask for replacements. The food was terrible in the main dining room at dinner. In the buffet, there was more choice but still not first class food. The desserts were appetizing and delicious...the main choices were often not well prepared. I lived on the hamburgers which were consistently good. Some of the staff were downright rude. However, there were some delightful crew, I.e. Kamal the cabin steward, Charleen in the buffet, and the young man from Croatia in the dessert area of the buffet. After having travelled with Holland America, Celebrity and Norwegian, this ship did not compare. No more Royal Caribbean for me.. I will go back to those with better food and where all crew are pleasant. Read Less

Was not expecting much and I got what I expected.Ship is way past it's sell by date, needs a massive deep clean, everywhere I looked I could see flaws. The solarium was filthy,I wiped my hand across a ledge and it was filthy, the floor tiles were so grimy needed a good jet wash. Our cabin looked ok but when you started probing it wasn't great. Food in general has definitely deteriorated, not awful but nowhere near as good as it used to be.We ate in Chops and Giovanni which were both excellent. Shows were just ok,nothing special. The best entertainment was in the Atrium every evening where everybody had a great time. The best thing about this ship is the staff, cheerful, helpful and willing. The Captain was also super friendly and always ou and about. Despite all the above,we had a great holiday even though the weather was poor, but I definitely wouldn't go back on this ship and I wouldn't recommend. Read Less

We chose this cruise prior to travelling to India. The ship is smaller than many in the fleet but this is not a problem and does mean that tenders are not required as , in the main, the ship can dock near the towns. Some painting is perhaps needed around the balconies but this is not a major issue. The food was better than previous cruises and as usual the staff were exceptional. Special mention to Saschi in the Schooner bar. Hope I Have the correct spelling We had taken a drinks package prior to leaving and while I initially thought this was overpriced when you take into account the price of drinks on the ship it was not too bad. I do think that 11 dollars plus 18% for a glass of white wine is just unbelievable. Does the ship not get alcohol duty free? My main complaint was the ports. While Dubai and Abu Dhabi are well worth a visit,. there is no need to spend 2 days in Muscat, especially when there is only one in Abu Dhabi. Khasab is described as an up and coming tourist destination but I would suggest the cruise only returns when it is established. We spoke to no one that found it even slightly enjoyable. I would have no problem in using this ship again but would want to be clearer on the ports available. Read Less

I have always cruised on RCL and this time the cost curptting initiatives were evident. Food in the Windjammer Restaurant was reduced, bath robes and tissues were on provided upon request, the number of waitering staff seem to have also be reduced, few waiters in the Windjammer Restaurant resulting in a delay in tables being cleaned and a mad rush of waiters in the Aquarius Restaurant, the Crown member's party was not held (disappointing to note cost cutting loyal for customers), there was no live music near the pool during the day and the performers, both of RCL and the guest performers, seemed to be second tier. The Captain made up for the weak performances, although, in my opinion, he was too visible and was involved in too many shows-he is the Captain not part of the events team. Dissapintingly, waitering staff in the Windjammer Restaurant did not have first aid knowledge and medical assistance took very long to arrive. The decor of the ship is dated and needs an upgrade. Exotic destination in the sun,a cruise combined with a 3 night stay in Dubai, was what I wanted to have. The embarkation at 11 am was quick and in no time was I inside the ship. The staterooms were available at 1pm,but the waiting in the sun was pleasant and the time passed very quickly.Having been on the Independence of the Seas several times I expected the Vision to be in the same league. But it is not.The Vision is in the need of a complete overhaul,it is fraying at the edges, lacks any cosiness and comfort where one can get lost for an hour or two and just read or watch the life go by. The self-service restaurant on the 9th floor has a strange, musty unpleasant smell. The tables are never quite clean enough, the same cloth is used to wipe every table without washing or changing, utterly unacceptable.Lunch was served in the main dining room once only..Six days it had to be taken in the self-service restaurant.Very disappointing. The food was a hit and miss affair with more misses than hits. But the bread and rolls were good, sometimes excellent. The choice of cold meats and cheese was poor. The fruit provided was of poor quality. The entertainment other than some acrobatic performance, was not up to standard. In the seven days we visited Khasab and Muscat in Oman, then Abu Dhabi and lastly docked in Dubai the last day and evening. Khasab is not a suitable place to be a part of an itinerary.Muscat did not warrant two days stay either, so in all the itinerary could have been so much better. There were not enough deck-chairs available for all the guests, often we had to sit on the towels on the floor. The deck chairs are very uncomfortable. The nicest thing about the cruise were my two waiters in the Aquarius restaurant where I dined at 8.30 in the evenings at table 88.They made my stay very pleasurable.Without them it would have been a total and complete washout. The next time I want a lovely time and excellent food on a spotlessly clean ship I will cruise on Celebrity Eclipse. Read Less
