We decided to cruise out of Colon, Panama, because it was so different than the other Caribbean cruises. We figured we'd already BE in the Caribbean and wouldn't spend extra time traveling TO it. Flying into Panama City on Copa Airlines only cost about $400 each, the same amount it would have cost to fly into Florida. If you have the opportunity to take a Royal Caribbean cruise out of Central or South America ... take it. My wife and I were on the January 10, 2009 Enchantment of the Seas cruise from Colon, Panama to Cartagena and Santa Marta, Colombia and the Netherlands Antilles. Be warned that this cruise is primarily in Spanish due to the fact that 80% to 90% are Spanish speaking passengers from Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and other Central and South American countries.
