Not child freindly

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

Having been on many different cruise lines over the past 10 years we purposely chose Royal Caribbean because we were taking our 13 month Grandson and RCI brochure States the Explorer of the Seas if a family freindly ship. Therefore we expected a child freindly environment, how wrong was we. Babies/toddlers can only use the pools if they are 100% toilet trained they are not allowed to wear swimming ...

We booked the cruise (2 adjoining Cabins 8610 and 8612) almost as soon as the itinerary was released to Iglu who we regularly use as our booking agents. We understood that early booking gives the best choice of cabins and the best prices/offers. We insisted that we must have two adjoining cabins with balconies so that we could open the divider between the cabins, a feature we have used ...

Beware

Unfortunately, this ship didn't really work for me. I tried my best to like it but there were just too many things wrong with it for me to totally enjoy it, although I still had a great holiday. The main problem for me is that it has hardly any outside space and certainly nowhere outside where you can get a bit of peace and quiet. Deck 15 is the only outdoor sunbathing area and this is ...

We travelled as a family of 3,2 adults and 1 child (10). Once on board my daughter and I went to lunch and my partner went to look around, when I finally caught up with him he told me he had been locked in the cabin for 30 minutes and had to call housekeeping to let him out. They kept him waiting and had to get some tools to force the lock off the door. I was obviously very concerned and had ...

First Cruise After Refit

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

First cruise after refit and the passengers were guinea pigs for new crew and organisation with ongoing maintenance. Check in was very efficient but the first 3/4 days on board was disorganised with long queues to get seated for meals, not enough seating (as weather not good enough to sit outside) and nearly an hour wait to get back onboard at Maderia. There was limited activities available ...

It was somewhere between good and poor with the odd excellent here and there. It was the ships first sailing after a refit and in some areas it was unfinished or maybe not even started? Some work was being done while we were sailing so areas were roped off, why could this work not been done before we sailed, when you're on holiday you don't shouldn't have to deal with the smell off paint and ...

Revitalised Explorer of the Seas

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

This first cruise on the Explorer of the Seas after being revitalised was far from satisfactory. There were very many teething troubles and as passengers ( there were 8 in our party) we felt like guinea pigs. The food was very basic so say the least and the service was lacking. The worst thing was the general feeling of overcrowding especially in the bar areas which meant that it was impossible ...

We have cruised 10 times, twice now with Royal Caribbean. This ship has just had a major refit and this was its first cruise since moving from the Caribbean routes recently, to serve the European market. Whilst the actual cabin was good (6280) our balcony floor and glass was covered with paint and the bathroom flooded 3 times, due to drainage problems. The safe had to be replaced on day ...

First Experience of Independence of the Seas and last with Royal

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Independence of the Seas

We found noise to be the biggest problem with the cruise. With 5500 people on the ship, and music in all the public areas there was no comfortable place to escape to; except ones' cabin I suppose . The quality of meals was passable, certainly no better than any of the meals experienced with other cruise lines. At formal evenings the dress code was not enforced. In fact the Company made it clear ...
