I booked this cruise as a birthday surprise for my wife because we had always heard that Royal Caribbean was better than Carnival, which we normally sailed on. Unfortunately, 'Adventure of the Seas' was not the adventure we wanted, with an extremely hard bed, little food variety/taste, and heavy smoking in the casino. Also, a change was made to our requested dining time, but Royal Caribbean ...
I picked this cruise based on itinerary and date; 3rd time on the Adventure but on Caribbean itineraries. We were a group of 7 adults (all have cruised before several times except for my 80 yrs old friend) We had embarkation time for 10:30am. (Highly recommend this time)Took a taxi on EWR and it took us like 20 minutes to Cape Liberty (no traffic because it was early). It was like $13 per person ...
Chose this cruise for the itinerary and although the weather wasn't the greatest the ports were still wonderful and enjoyable.
Ship is older but was clean and tidy except for very dirty outside windows. Since it is a smaller ship the crew is friendly and good at remembering you and making you feel pampered.
Cabin 3124 is small, quiet and comfortable with adequate storage.
Unfortunately ...
I didn't necessarily "choose the cruise." I was lecturing for a conference that was aboard this cruise/ship.
Overall:
I have sailed on the Oasis before and have also sailed on the Celebrity Brand ships. This cruise departed from Cape Liberty (NJ)- and it's a bit tragic to see the sheer tonnage of humans boarding this ship.
Cons: I cannot blame the crew for their despondent and apathetic ...
We were supposed to sail from Southampton to Boston, New York, Port Canaveral and Miami. However, we were called on th Friday afternoon before the Monday cruise and told that due to storms in the Atlantic we would now go to Le Havre, Brugges and then Miami. Not quite the same appeal! We were offered a full refund if we cancelled but as booked the flights ourselves and non refundable hotel rooms in ...
We choose this cruise for the ship, as we had not been on the Anthem of the Seas. The ship was impressive, but it lacked good food, unless you paid extra, and a lot of the crew seemed to be lazy. Not at all what we are used to on other ships. Lots to do. The entertainment on this ship was certainly different. Enjoyed The Gift, Spectra, and We will Rock You, but once was enough for all of ...
We chose this cruise because of the convenience of leaving from Boston and the islands to be visited. The ship is very easy to get around on and the staff is pleasant. Some areas of the ship are in need of repair. In our stateroom bathroom the mirror seemed to have a buildup of algae around the edges and after a brief rainstorm the floor of our balcony was covered in a muddy debris. The ...
So, we've been on The Jewel of the Seas before, and it was fine. Signed up for this one because of easy access to Boston, and we love Bermuda. We've been there several times. Checking in was easy and the ship was nice. A little frayed around the edges here and there but no big detriment.
Our biggest complaint was not being able to get potable water easily. We need to drink a lot and brought ...
Ports of Call! Started in Quebec City and docked in Nova Scotia, Halifax, Portland, Boston and then to Florida. Our Cabin was situated near the elevator which was nice. The elevators however were horrendous. They were doing maintenance on 2 elevators which made it difficult but what made it frustrating was that the other elevators would bypass our floor with one or two people on them. This ...
Joe and I love cruising. We have always been 'Loyal to Royal' and are Diamond Plus--not that it matters, except it is relevant to our experiences on this cruise.
It started out well--the air connections the cruise line arranged worked out well, though they were time-comsuming. We got to the airport in Quebec City tired after 17 hours of traveling. We had asked RCI for an airport to hotel ...
