A little background first, then a bit long, but ultimately fair review. I am a 61 year old widower with a decent amount of cruise experience. This was my 2nd with RCCL (although the 1st one was some 25+ years ago) to go with 4 on Carnival, 1 on Princess, and 1 on NCL. I traveled with my 32 year old single son. This was also his 2nd on RCCL to go with 2 on Carnival and 1 on Princess (all with me). ...

My compliments to the chef in the Windjammer Café. The food in the buffet was excellent! We never bothered to eat in the main dining room as the service is so slow, but the buffet was great (varied menu every day, including lobster on the last night). Kudos to the Music Maker 4-piece band as they played the best dance music on the ship! We danced mostly in the Centrum on a hard tile ...

The Serenade is a nice smaller ship,,, not as well kept as it should be. A little dirty in some places. The Internet is terrible,, can't log on,,doesn't stay connected,,and so slow,,,,,,, with staff only available at certain hours,,, not worth the cost !!!! Crew & Waitstaff are GREAT!!!!!,,,, Food as fine as any ,,,,Better then most,,,, Only real complaint was the Whale ...

Friends talked us into going on one. The raved about the food and the availability of it. I found it difficult to get a snack such as chips or nuts anywhere. The food was not good. The only meals we enjoyed were the ones we had to pay extra for. Funny how that works. Also some of the excursions planned by the cruise seemed really enjoyable but once on the bus the tour guide was not that well ...

Canadian cruise on the Serenade of the Seas

The cruise itself was as expected. The ports were lovely and we had fantastic weather for all ports. However, one of the very first things that I noticed was that all of the windows in the ship were very dirty and it was difficult to see out to the sea or the ports. My group of 9 friends all purchased the drink package, and found that we had long wait times to get our own drinks most of the ...

The cruise itself was less than I had expected.

My wife and were traveling with two other couples and have been on other cruises. We had not had the pleasure of being with Royal Caribbean before. We were excited to take this cruise as it contained the area that interested the six of us together. In my experience I noticed the lack of training of the crew in some of the most basic skills I think necessary to operate a successful cruise. This ...

The market is king

First time with RCI and probably the last - not a patch on Norwegian or Princess with which we can compare. Ship ok if a little tired but our Ocean view cabin was fine with a large round window admitting plenty of light, comfortable bed, adequate bathroom & plenty of hanging space. Getting on and off well handled and relatively quick but once on board the marketing of services and goods was ...

We chose this cruise because of friends that were also booked. If not for these friends and new ones we met it would be hard to find many positive comments other than the crew members. The flight to Boston was a breeze as was the taxi to the ship. To the best of my recollection check-in and boarding went smoothly. I recall seeing rust and paint bubbled as we walked along the deck to get inside ...

12 NIGHT BEANTOWN & BEACHES CRUISE

We prefer re-positioning cruises for their normally unique itineraries and they are normally more than the standard 7 day adventures. This cruise embarkation was in Boston which is only an hour flight from Toronto so we could fly out and board the same day. Boarding was a little hectic but manageable. Disembarking in Fort Lauderdale was a completely different story and probably the worst ...

RCI continues to decline in many areas.

This was the annual repositioning cruise of whatever Radiance class ship is sailing the Boston - Canadian Maritimes route - this year the Serenade. The cruise leaves Boston and then spends 12 days doing a southern Caribbean cruise before winding up in its Florida winter port - Ft Lauderdale this year. I am a Pinnacle member of RCI and sail with them frequently as RCI is one of the only lines ...
