A little background first, then a bit long, but ultimately fair review. I am a 61 year old widower with a decent amount of cruise experience.This was my 2nd with RCCL (although the 1st one was some 25+ years ago) to go with 4 on Carnival, 1 on Princess, and 1 on NCL. My compliments to the chef in the Windjammer Café. The food in the buffet was excellent!
We never bothered to eat in the main dining room as the service is so slow, but the buffet was great (varied menu every day, including lobster on the last night).
Kudos to the Music Maker 4-piece band as they played the best dance music on the ship!
We danced mostly in the Centrum on a hard tile ...

The Serenade is a nice smaller ship,,,
not as well kept as it should be. A little dirty in some places.
The Internet is terrible,, can't log on,,doesn't stay connected,,and so slow,,,,,,, with staff only available at certain hours,,, not worth the cost !!!!
Crew & Waitstaff are GREAT!!!!!,,,, Food as fine as any ,,,,Better then most,,,,

Friends talked us into going on one. The raved about the food and the availability of it. I found it difficult to get a snack such as chips or nuts anywhere. The food was not good. The only meals we enjoyed were the ones we had to pay extra for. Funny how that works. The cruise itself was as expected. The ports were lovely and we had fantastic weather for all ports. We chose this cruise because of friends that were also booked. If not for these friends and new ones we met it would be hard to find many positive comments other than the crew members.

We prefer re-positioning cruises for their normally unique itineraries and they are normally more than the standard 7 day adventures. This cruise embarkation was in Boston which is only an hour flight from Toronto so we could fly out and board the same day.

This was the annual repositioning cruise of whatever Radiance class ship is sailing the Boston - Canadian Maritimes route - this year the Serenade. The cruise leaves Boston and then spends 12 days doing a southern Caribbean cruise before winding up in its Florida winter port - Ft Lauderdale this year.
