My room was flooded due to leaky window, ship smelled like strong sulfur from Day 1 to end of cruise, massive numbers of people got sick on this cruise (including me), most excursions were cancelled due to cold/windy weather, and the ones that weren't were awful. Entertainment was subpar, which made the whole experience even more excruciating. Appears someone wasn't checking oil on steering gear, ...
Embarkation:
Easy port to get to. Long wait to drop off luggage. Easy check in but had rude check in person. Not Rccl people but Baltimore terminal should do a better job at training.
First inpressions: Old ship but friendly crew. Cruise director Bob and officers always around and very friendly.
Ports:
Charleston: Got off ship but city was closed due to snow/ice storm. ...
Although the Grandeur had a mechanical issue which lengthened our cruise for two extra days, she is still a beautiful ship and we’ve already booked another cruise on her. This was a cruise greatly affected by the weather. We docked first at Charleston, SC where 3-5 inches of snow on the ground pretty much paralyzed the city. We were also unable to get to Coco Cay due to waves which would have ...
This was our worst cruise ever. Now with that beginning I can't fault the staff on the cruise. We had bad weather, rough seas, and norovirus! Royal Caribbean can't control the weather or the rough seas but they should shut down the ship for a little bit to get control of the virus being spread on the ship. There are not enough day time activities on this ship. If you are fine with no ...
1. The boat had Mechanical issues at sea (lack of ability to steer the boat to the left).
2. High number of passengers got sick at sea (Gastrointestinal issues, flu symptoms).
3. Boat is not well maintained (I.e. water leak in stateroom, bad Oder, rusty areas).
4. Excursions were at best mediocre.
5. The buses used to drive the passengers to their excursions were not well maintained ...
We decided to take this cruise for our daughter who will be graduating from College this May and give her some time to relax and get ready for her final semester. Due to mechanical problems the cruise wa extended 2 days and ended up being a 11 night cruise. The weather was not the greatest but you really can't control that.
This ship is one of the older ships of RCCL and it is starting to show ...
Grandeur of the Seas Review - January 2 through January 11, 2018
I really thought long and hard about writing a review for this cruise because I didn’t want to do an all negative review but I feel that people that read Cruise Critic reviews are looking for good information when spending a large sum of money on a cruise, so I decided to write the review.
I wish I could honestly say it was the ...
Overall the cruise was good. Many a bit upset as the steering system broke extending the arrival time back to Baltimore by 2 days.
Freeport is a bit of a bore not much to do. Nausea is great, strongly recommend Atlantis Hotel to visit. Take a cab forget the excursion.
Port Canaveral is ok, you're in the States so no big deal.
RC is generally a good cruise line, I find the staff and ...
This cruise was booked for one main purpose-to make sure my other half can endure higher waves. He has only been on only two cruises so far, and on those, the waters were very smooth. I, being a meteorologist, figured that booking a cruise in the Atlantic during January should give us a chance to see if he can handle the high seas. That we did get.
First of all, Delta lost a bag when we flew ...
Chose this cruise based off of price and date of vacation. There was not much to do for young adults. We were unable to go on our shore excursion and they tried to charge us extra for a supplemental excursion. Pricing was not clear for the Spa. Still had to pay for the entire cruise even though we had to leave early because of maintenance on the ship. Very disappointed with the overall experience. ...
