Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Grandeur of the Seas

Embarkment and disembarkment in Baltimore is smooth and awesome. They are truly a wonderful port to cruise out of. As for the dining experience, the wait staff go above and beyond. BUT.....the food choices need to change. It is the same mundane food every day. They need to have someone in charge of the menus who can change things up. Most of us decided to eat in the windjammer instead of the ...

Recommended by travel agent, this was to be our first cruise, and had great expectations. On joining the ship my case was withheld and I had to muster in the lower deck to retrieve it, to be told that the £48 bottle of whisky was to be taken and "destroyed"! in New York I had had a small glass from the total of one litre. On asking to witness the destruction of my whisky, I was informed that It ...

Background information: I booked this cruise with my recently widowed sister so that we could have some sister time together. It was her first regular cruise (she did one previously with Tauck) and her first time to Bermuda. It was my 27th cruise, and my 7th visit to Bermuda - my third on Grandeur of the Seas. I was 80 years old at the time of the cruise and I use a mobility scooter to get ...

Great cruise even with two missed ports of call

We selected this cruise to see the leaf color in New England and to celebrate my wife's birthday which occurred on the cruise--12 October. We've sailed from Baltimore before and it is one of the more convenient cruise ports from our home in Wake Forest, NC. We drove up the day before and spent the night at the Hampton Inn in Glen Burnie, MD. They offer a sleep, park, ride package that includes ...

This was our second time on this 5 day cruise to Bermuda. We loved it so much back in May we decided to do it again. It is a short visit to this island nation but we made the most . of it. We enjoy the sea days on the ship, working out in the fitness center in the morning, breakfast in the Windjammer, hanging out in the Solarium, dancing before dinner and more evening activities. We went on the ...

We had traveled on RCCL before and wanted to revisit Bermuda with friends. The hurricane changed that we went to Nassau, Bahamas. RCCL had notified 2 days before and offered to give us a credit to be used on a future cruise. We opted to go. Excursions were posted on the ship to Nassau, we chose the Glass Bottom Boat, very nice. However the hurricane persetied and we were told our 5 day cruise ...

I have always wanted to go the the New England states along with some parts of Canada. I chose this one because it seemed to fit the bill. boarding and getting off the ship was very easy and fast. This cruise was geared more for a older crowd. Not much activity, very small pool but lots of pool side loungers. Ice cream was very yummy. First couple of nights the Main dining room was very ...

Comfortable cruise. Excellent staff from dining room to stateroom. However excursion In Bar Harbor to Acadia and lobster bake was a total bust. Tour was rushed through Park and we arrived 11 AM for Lobster Bake.Tour should have been one hour longer. Waste of money. Small lobster tail 1/3 piece of corn and two small potatoes. Opportunity to see a beautiful park lost. Could have booked our own ...

Gluten free on the Grandeur

A good time was had by all. While there were several gluten free menu items, there was not much variety. I ended up having the same things for dinner nearly every night in the dining room, because there were only 2 gluten free items. Our waiter did bring gluten free bread to me each night. At lunch, there was always a gluten free cheesecake or cake, but no variety there, either. No gluten free ...

New England/Canada Cruise - August 2018

The New England cruise is a very nice itinerary. Our group of 5 did not sign up for shore excursions since we had been to most ports previously. Of all the ports, St. Johns was the least attractive, a mostly industrial city. Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor and Hailifax were great. The staterooms definitely need to be updated. However, all the public areas were beautiful. The crew was super, and ...
