Alaska cruise

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

Alaska has always been on my bucket list and we found a great deal so off we went. Embarkation was seamless so first impression was great. Enthusiasm was greatly diminished when upon reaching our cabin, our sea pass cards (room key) did not work. It took 3 trips to guest services and one and a half hours later to resolve the issue. Dinner time at the main dining room was a disaster as the ...

Good Cruise but Lost Luggage

Overall cruise was good. Embarkation was the smoothest that we have experienced; it took only a few minutes. Junior suite was spacious and cabin attendant was excellent. Dining was good. Had dinner in the main dining room most nights. Immediately after boarding, made reservations for the Coastal Kitchen for two nights; when we showed up somehow the reservation had been lost. We were ...

Food Unless you purchase a beverage plan, complimentary drink options are water or hot tea, and juices at a few places. Unless you're going to have 2-3 cocktails (around $10-17 each) a day, the beverage plan is a waste of money. The soda only (no booze) plan is around $9/day. Instead, bring a dozen sodas on board with you. When you're in Ketchikan, go to the drugstore (very close to the dock) ...

Beautiful ship uneventful cruise

We chose this cruise as our cruise on the Solstice was canceled. We normally cruise Alaska every year and this was our 2nd RC cruise. In 2019 sailed Ovation of the Seas. We have also sailed HAL, Celebrity Infinity 2010 and the Solstice many times. We knew things would be challenging because of COVID. The ship was beautiful. I thought the food was very good. However, I felt very uncomfortable in ...

If you have read any of my previous reviews , you know my wife and I are senior citizens, budget cruisers and cruise to be on the ship and relax. We typically do not care what ports the ship goes to since we seldom get off, don't usually do excursions. We like to eat, relax, read and go to shows. That being the case, the priorities for us in reviewing a ship are food, general ambience and decor of ...

We are quite experienced cruisers and wanted to go to Alaska, and wanted to try a new experience on a different line. This was our opportunity. Our first impression was that it was quite like our other experiences, and we joked with each other the main difference was that it was "much louder". But after a while we began to notice some significant differences. The overall impression was that ...

We disembarked yesterday evening and much has been very good. My husband and I are celebrating our 11 year anniversary, having waited through Covid (we *were* wanting to do our 10 year to Alaska last August, but alas). Mostly we’re looking forward to reading, relaxing, watching movies, and maybe do some hiking at the ports (we can’t splurge on any excursions, unfortunately). Honestly, just a ...

This was welcome back cruise since Covid. So blessed to be able to sail again. We had to wear mask in common areas. Everyone was vaccinated except children under 16. There were only 600 or so people on this ship so the service was amazing from the waiters, bartenders, etc. Everyone was so nice. In fact it was the best cruise out of 25 cruises for service. NEGATIVE!!!! - activities - I ...

Should NOT be called a Glacier Cruise-SHIP is too BIG to get near it!

I am a Royal only cruiser and this cruise was a huge disappointment for many reasons. I booked a balcony room on the 13th floor. Most of this floor has an obstructed view with support beams and a roof overhang that blocks most of the sky. It is NOT sold as "obstructed" I spent the first day of the cruise unpacking, packing ,moving to better view room and unpacking again. This could have been ...

I would have given Ovation more stars but right on the docks it started badly. My husband and I both have mobility issues. This was our 50th anniversary cruise and we almost weren't allowed on the ship! When we arrived at the port although we were scheduled for pier assistance, we had to walk a LOOOONG way to get there, you don't get to the wheelchairs till you are almost on the ramps! They ...
