Cruise saved by the excursions

Royal Caribbean's pricing for the cruises are about on par with most other cruise lines, yet at the end of the day you'll spend more for less with Royal Caribbean. To start, RC does not have good food. In fact, I would say that RC's food, regardless of where you dine, is not just sub par for most cruise lines, but sub par for pedestrian junk food. Menus in the dining room should be full of ...

Very disappointed with Radiance of the Seas

We really like the itinerary for the sea and land tours. Besides the cabin issues we had some other issues were: We went the entire week WITH NO HOT WATER. One day we had no water at all. And yes I called maintenance. Children were allowed to run freely in the casino. One evening in the Champagne Bar children were playing football with a shoe. Besides the parents not doing anything I feel ...

I made a resolution: choose a cruise solely for its ports. The rest is likely to be a disappointment. Too many sour faces and mediocre service. The food was good for a weight loss regime, and I did lose some weight, The bathroom in the cabin smelled bad from the start. Knowing that the ship had not been refreshed in a long while, I did not even bother to complain (I had read a review that ...

Nice ship, but over-crowded with terrible food

We booked this cruise because of the recent upgrades on it and the number of ship-board activities for our children. The ship is nicely finished and does have quite a few things to do on board for people of all ages. However, the food and dining service is simply awful. Dinners in the main hall would take 2 hours for very mediocre food and it was hard to even get a glass of wine. The ...

Hard beds and terrible food!

Have cruised with RCI before, but not again after this cruise. The ship is attractive, the employees are friendly, and the ship is clean-some upkeep needs to be done. The main dining room (anytime dining) is terrible. Impossible to get reservations when requesting a specific time, food presentation is terrible, food is lack luster (over cooked, no seasoning, limited selections). The Japanese ...

Alaskan 7 day cruise in June

My husband and I sailed to Alaska in June on the Explorer of the Seas. This is not our first voyage on this ship but will probably be our last. This ship is badly in need of refurbishment of the "non-feature" types of items. The bed mattress was old and hard with springs protruding. We had to ask our cabin steward for an additional soft top to sleep comfortably. The promenade is so-so ...

Disappointed in RC did not live up to it's reputation and our past cruise!

We chose Royal Caribbean as we have sailed to the Caribbean in the past with them. I don't even know where to begin. First getting on the ship was just mass confusion. We arrived at the time stated for our deck and waited in line 2.5 hours, and of course one of our bags didn't make it to our room as the paper tag they stapled on was ripped of when the loaded our bags. We had to wait until 8 pm ...

Terrible customer service, passable food, good excursions

Was very disappointed since most reviews for this cruise ship and line are pretty good. Went on an Alaskan cruise, which meant most of the ships outdoor areas were not really usable. This left limited common spaces to hang out. Food was mediocre, but I did always have something I could eat. Interior room was pretty spacious. Overall, my review would be a 3.5/5 here. Why 2? Disappointing!

Chose the cruise for the location. It was a short flight from Phoenix and my friend had never cruised before and we liked the ports of call. Enjoyed all the ports of call and the availability of assistance at each port of call. I choose to do my own exploring and not to use ship shore excursions and there was plenty of information and assistance at each port of call. Service on the ship ...

Disappointing

Probably one of our least favorite cruises. A real disappointment. Cabin attendant had no eye for detail. For example, missing or the wrong daily planners. Came back to our cabin to find another guest standing in our foyer area with the floor supervisor standing there too. It seems that the guest wanted to see an Owner's Suite. Creepy having them show our cabin while we were staying in it. ...
