Large Outside Stateroom (fully obstructed views) (HH) Cabin Reviews

This cabin is aft of the last double doors that exit to the Promenade. In November of 2017 we were forward of this cabin in 3404. If I had to choose again, I would choose 3404 over 3420. They are the same room and size and convenient to the Promenade deck which we like. There were a few very minor things that we experienced in 3420. Once in a great while, and seemingly when the sea was a little rough, the room would literally sound like the walls were cracking. But, this was not consistently; just occasionally. We could also feel the propellers in this room, but again, it was not something that would drive you crazy or would make you want to change rooms. It was just different than 3404. This particular stateroom hall tends to be pretty quiet. The room is obstructed by the steel hull, but you can see the sea if you stand on either side of the bed. Having a few of the sea was not our goal, but having natural light was, and that was provided with this room. This room has a shower tub combo at this writing, which my husband likes. I did not like the small TV which was hard to watch from the bed. You certainly cannot read any of the movie credits or streaming banner across the bottom. So, HAL went cheap on these small TVs. There is plenty of room for clothes by utilizing the closets, drawers and putting all empty luggage under the bed. There is NO REFRIGERATOR so you have to use ice if you want to have a chilled drink in your stateroom. Friends had an exterior room on Deck 1 Dolphin that had full sea view through a good size window and the room was bigger than ours with a full size sofa. We had a loveseat. So, if you want a bigger room, try Dolphin deck. Read Less

Not quite as large as the balcony cabin (HAL has taken to calling all such cabins "suites" on this class of ship) shared by my friends, but plenty comfortable for me, and offering some view and natural light despite its "obstructed view" category designation. All cabins seem to come with tubs, not just shower-- but either way, I'd prefer a showerhead which you can slide up or down to suit your height, and can be taken off that mount altogether as needed. This was an accessable stateroom but there was not a lot of room for the scooter I rented and I still had to put my walker somewhere. I pulled the couch out from the wall and folded my walker up but we had to be careful not to trip over the charging cord every night. There also was only one plug so we couldn't charge anything else until the middle of the night when the scooter was charged. Bed was very comfortable and once the water was no longer brown (second last day of 15 day trip) it was drinkable. I'm sure the water will be ok now. Read Less

Cabin had plenty of storage space and was kept spick and span by our friendly cabin Stewart, Press and his colleague. We had booked an inside cabin but were given an exterior cabin with an obstructed view. The view was obstructed by the lifeboats. Unfortunately it was quite noisy in the mornings when docking with banging noises and we witnessed a stretcher being taken off outside our window on our first night. We didn't get any sleep as the rescue took about 3 hours in the early hours of the morning. Would not recommend this cabin as it is too noisy. When we complained about the noise, we were given a bottle of wine and given an upgrade to the Italian restaurant. Read Less

I don't recommend Class H Oceanview Obstructed on the Lower Promenade deck. This is the deck with the main circular promenade. It goes right past our window, which has no view of the sea except for a tiny, tiny glimpse--we would have been better off in an inside cabin! Also, there was no fridge, and when the bathroom door and outside door are open all the closets are completely blocked, very inconvenient. Also, our cabin was directly below the main gangway in the ship's main kitchen on the 4th deck, and HAL failed to notify us of this, which I consider to be highly misleading, at best, and they refused to give us a different cabin for the 30 day cruise. We heard noises at all times of the night. Read Less

3420 HH, was nice but lots of broken furniture, missing keys, door levers not locking and it was not a partial ocean view. If you wanted to see the ocean from the window you needed to lean over the nightstand close to the wall. 3424 HH, again nice, everything worked but the steward. However, this was not partial oceanview as it looked into the staffs staircase. It does list these cabins as partail ocean view. Also, both cabins were at the far back of the ship and I requested the middle as my daughter gets motion sickness. Read Less

Our cabin was a fully obstructed view, but we could actually see if we looked out sideways.  It was near the midships elevators so we felt hardly any motion and the cabin was quiet - no kitchen noise from above us.
