1st European trip via Viking Western Mediterranean cruise
"(No casino, no smoking, no one under 18, no photographers constantly trying to sell you pictures, all cabins offer patios, included beer & wine with meals, free airfares, included excursions with local guides at every port) The Viking cruises had been described as the thinking persons cruise instead of the drinking persons cruise. The previous cruises were all nice, but we determined we did not need to cruise again due to several reasons that made Viking appealing...."Read More

For our initial trip to Europe, we wanted a “ First Class” sampler platter. The hope was to visit several different countries without having to change hotels for each location. We figured after “the sampler” we could plan to return to any particular area we desire. We have previously cruised several times in the Caribbean. The previous cruises were all nice, but we determined we did not need ...

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see certain cities such as Rome, Pisa, Florence and Barcelona. We were not disappointed , but wished we could have spent more time in those cities. As always, the service of the entire crew was outstanding - warm, friendly and attentive to every detail. We did not get to meet the captain who was detained by official duties. David, the activities director, ...

This was a chance to travel with my wife and her sister. The ship was very nice and it was easy access to everything. They had great areas to relax and read, visit, or knit (in my wife's case) It had great venues for meals and all the food was fantastic. But with three of us, dinner reservations could not be made until we got aboard the ship - a slight inconvenience. The cruise had very ...

We decided on this cruise because we wanted to spend a few days in Rome before the cruise. Having time to visit the Vatican, the Colosseum and other wonderful sites in Rome was priceless. And Viking employees were at the hotel to answer any questions we had. On the ship, employees were friendly, helpful and ready to do whatever they could for your comfort. The ship is beautiful with plenty of ...

We heard about this cruise from relatives who had taken this last year. All members of the crew are very helpful and friendly. It was nice to have met many fellow Filipinos among them and to know that the chief cook and members of the band are Filipinos. The shore excursions are very interesting and the daily briefing by the cruise director and his assistant are quite remarkable. Their ...

A Critique of the Ship Viking Sea : I and my wife were recently on this ship for a cruise from Rome to Barcelona via Tunis and Algiers. The cabin space and the balcony size were adequate, but not enough drawer or shelf space. The desk had a lid which lifts up to access the drawer but became a nuisance because it lessened desktop space. There was no sofa bed. The TV had good ...

We wanted to visit southern Mediterranean destinations we have never visited. We were attracted by the addition of ports in Northern Africa. Effortless embarkation. Ship was outstanding, expecially the Nordic spa! Great selection and quality of food throughout the day. Wonderful common areas in different areas of the ship. We appreciated the low-key noise level on the ship. Food on the ship ...

We chose this cruise because it was going to both Tunis and Algiers, ports we have always wanted to go to. The offshore excursions were wonderful. Viking made sure that everything went smoothly. Malta and Sardinia were fascinating as well, and the guided tours were very professionally done. There was always enough personnel to adjust our daily itineraries if we chose to do so. The lectures on ...

We had gone on a Viking River cruise and wanted to try the Ocean cruise because we enjoyed the the River cruise so much. The itinerary on our cruise included Sicily and Sardinia which we wanted to see and we also got to go to Barcelona. The room we stayed in was a Varanda room and the amenities were brand new including a 40" flat screen TV. Internet access was free. The food was great and included ...
