Outstanding accommodations and service, but a whirlwind trip.

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see certain cities such as Rome, Pisa, Florence and Barcelona. We were not disappointed , but wished we could have spent more time in those cities. As always, the service of the entire crew was outstanding - warm, friendly and attentive to every detail. We did not get to meet the captain who was detained by official duties. David, the activities director, ...

This was a chance to travel with my wife and her sister. The ship was very nice and it was easy access to everything. They had great areas to relax and read, visit, or knit (in my wife's case) It had great venues for meals and all the food was fantastic. But with three of us, dinner reservations could not be made until we got aboard the ship - a slight inconvenience. The cruise had very ...

For our initial trip to Europe, we wanted a “ First Class” sampler platter. The hope was to visit several different countries without having to change hotels for each location. We figured after “the sampler” we could plan to return to any particular area we desire. We have previously cruised several times in the Caribbean. The previous cruises were all nice, but we determined we did not need ...

We decided on this cruise because we wanted to spend a few days in Rome before the cruise. Having time to visit the Vatican, the Colosseum and other wonderful sites in Rome was priceless. And Viking employees were at the hotel to answer any questions we had. On the ship, employees were friendly, helpful and ready to do whatever they could for your comfort. The ship is beautiful with plenty of ...

We heard about this cruise from relatives who had taken this last year. All members of the crew are very helpful and friendly. It was nice to have met many fellow Filipinos among them and to know that the chief cook and members of the band are Filipinos. The shore excursions are very interesting and the daily briefing by the cruise director and his assistant are quite remarkable. Their ...

The Viking Sea is a beautiful new ship. Sailed on the Secrets of the Southern Mediterranean the end of Feb. We had the least expensive class of cabin, and it was fine. We had read reviews that said there were only 3 drawers, but your steward will bring you all the hangers you want--good hanging space. The drawers in the bathroom were great, and plenty of little shelf space to put everyday ...

We chose this cruise because we liked the itinerary so we could visit Malta, Corsica, Sardinia, Tunis, and Algiers which are not normal destinations for cruises. We also wanted to sail with Viking ocean to compare it to our other luxury cruises. It was superb. The common space is separated by glass partitions to provide a sense of privacy but with an open feeling--definitely not a cave. The use ...

We wanted to see Algeria and Tunisia, which few ships visit. We have had many good experiences on Viking river cruises so we wanted to try the ocean ship. Good points: beautiful ship, comfortable cabins, good food, good service. Our cabin was larger than standard for the category. I really appreciated the frequency with which veal appeared on the menus. Liked the chance to see new ports. Not ...

We chose a February cruise so we wouldn't have to deal with a mass of tourists. Luckily for us, the weather was picture perfect each day with blue skies and mild temps. Unfortunately during our pre-cruise days in Rome my passport and all money, credit cards, medical cards was stolen. I called Viking and they were so helpful in allowing me on the ship, arranging with the US Embassy in Malta a ...

I had never been anywhere in Africa, and this cruise visited Tunis (the medina and a Roman aqueduct ruin) and Algiers (the botanical garden, the basilica, and the martyrs' monument), plus Valletta, Cagliari, Valencia, and a breathtaking view of Volcano Stromboli. Superbly co-ordinated transfers from Rome airport to ship and ship to Barcelona airport. Wonderful food. Excellent, informative ...
