GTY a mistake avoid for cabin placement!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Venus

I liked the Venus itinerary so having never cruised on Viking I went for. GTY on a DV-6 Deluxe Veranda. I trusted the cruise line would make a great choice for me like Crystal Cruise or Regent has very time. What I got was the lowest floor in a regular cabin. Will I do a GTY again?- NEVER! Will I cruise with Viking again- well that remains to be seen. So far I am not thrilled! I’ll be ...

Not for me

Smart clean ship with brilliant staff but not for me. Not a good start to find no tea facility in the cabin, binoculars, dressing gown, slippers and an umbrella, but no tea. Don't Americans drink tea? Food was nothing special, P&O's used to be just as good in fact the self service choice on P&O is better. The free wine was just ok but was easily available. Cold plates were common and the cheese ...

Understaffed, and staff poorly trained.

Continuous ship computer problems. Restaurant reservations repeatedly disappeared. Long wait times for bar service. We had the wine package, and at dinner, refills were tough to get. Long lines at the buffet. Items often ran out and were not replenished for many minutes. The principal training much of the staff has received is to repeat the mantra "I am so sorry. I do apologize for the problem." ...

We've Lost Faith in Viking

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

Viking hasn't been in the ocean cruise business for very long, and clearly has some issues to work out. While their ship is very nice, unfortunately some of the chosen ports of call cheapen the brand. (i.e., Trapiani should not be the city vistied in Sicily, it should be Palermo; there are better ports than Sardinia; Algiers should be avoided, see below). But it is our experience with customer ...

We had the most wonderful experience aboard the Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the Sun about 2yrs ago. Things changed a lot in 2 years or from the East to Western Mediterranean. Almost a totally different company experience, the sad part we introduced 2 frequent travelers with a lot of cruise ship experiences and they were really disappointed probably want return on a Viking tour. First ...

Not-as-advertised Viking Star cruise gone with the wind

We took the Viking Ocean Cruises “Iconic Western Mediterranean Barcelona to Rome” trip on their Viking Star ship from December 14-21, 2017. We have taken many river cruises with Viking and other companies and decided to try an ocean cruise this time. The Viking Star is new and clean with many amenities, entertainment, good food and excellent cabin and restaurant staff. That said, this cruise ...
