Fabulous itinerary -- Mediocre Ship -- Norwegian Star

The itinerary was truly spectacular. A "bucket list" for us and our traveling companions. For us, every port from Cyprus to Dubai was a new adventure, and even several ports in Italy and Greece offered new experiences. [The ports were Rome, Naples, Messina, Piraeus, Kakolon (Greece) Cyprus, Haifa (Israel) Aqaba (Jordan) Safaga (Egypt), passing through the Suez Canal, Salalah and Muscat (Oman) ...

We have never taken a Norwegian cruise before and we will never take one again. We have cruised with Princess and Royal Caribbean. We were shocked by the constant nickel and diming on this cruise. So many things were an extra cost, including some items on the menu in the larger dinning rooms that on other cruise lines are free. They charged for the tour of the ship, that we have never paid for ...

Itinerary Rome-Naples-Messina-Katakolon-Athens-Limassol-Haifa-Aqaba-Safaga-Salalah-Muscat-Dubai 30October 2016 Norwegian Star. CHECKIN at Civitavecchia and bag delivery score a 10 for ease, promptness and friendliness. There is no welcoming committee as you board the ship, just the unfriendly dour faces of security. Norwegian have an inconsistent policy of removing all beverages at every ...

The ports were wonderful and the people in the countries were all very friendly. No fear in any city. the ship did its best to avoid germs, but people avoided the hand washing stations, and many were sick on the ship. The ships doctor advised Airborne and charged a woman $460 for the 2 trips she made to see him. The food was poor everywhere, and if you wanted a better meal, it was extra $ ...

We chose this itinerary as we were looking for one that offered my father ports to which he hadn't traveled. Beginning in Rome, and visiting Naples, Messina, Olympia, Athens, Limassol, (not really) Cairo, Haifa, Aqaba, Safaga, Salalah, Muscat, and Dubai, this sailing fit the bill and seemed a reasonable price to this virgin cruiser. We began our trip with five days in Istanbul. I was unaware ...

These comments are provided from the perspective of a mid-60’s retired couple who have ocean cruised on 10 previous occasions mainly on Princess and Celebrity. The primary objective was to sail through the Suez Channel and have the opportunity to experience the Middle East countries. We chose NCL because of itinerary and price. I found the website easy to use; as we like to pre-register, ...

To hit the positives, this was an awesome itinerary. Rome to Dubai with hassle free stops in Middle Eastern countries that would be very difficult to reach any other way. So I would give them 5 stars for itinerary and transportation. The ship was well maintained. Our room was comfortable. The staff was outstanding. The entertainment in the main theater was excellent, night after ...
