Beautiful places with, at times, a struggling ship
"Once out of the port areas the places were great and Corsica is fabulous It was a little surprising to see the standard sail away party on the 5th sail-a-way of our cruise from Barcelona, but it was apparent throughout that the cruise is Barcelona to Barcelona and we boarded in Rome.Even the app on my phone refreshed with new info when we were in Barcelona on day 5 Service and food/beverage The staff, as always, were fantastic...."Read More

A Return to NCL Haven for 11 nights Rome to Lisbon

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Epic

I’ve been sailing NCL since 2010 and truly enjoyed their suites and style of cruising. But by 2017 the new management’s constant customer unfriendly changes and cutbacks had me questioning the overall value of NCL. Watching NCL produce ships with race tracks, laser tag, video arcade pavilions, ever larger Vibe areas and more for-fee areas at the cost of included public spaces made me wonder if I ...

Cruised out of Rome and my flights and transfers were all organised by my agent with no issues whatsoever, met in Rome and although I thought the transfer was probably too long from being greeted to departing for the port on a shared 50 seater coach. Actual embarkation was straightforward and very quick and I was soon at my cabin. I needed proof of a negative covid test, vaccinations and that ...

The cruise itself was okay. The pools are too small and the adult pool/Spice H2O was closed the last couple of days. We were given a $50 credit for the inconvenience. There are no lounge chairs in that area to lay out & they close early in the evening. The staff was very friendly and our steward was awesome, he was very attentive. As for the excursions, we spent too many hours traveling to each ...

We consider ourselves as easily pleased and fair - so here goes The boarding at Civitavecchia (Rome) was seamless at our allocated time. We had all our paper work ready and check-in complete, with COVID test etc, which I think helped as there were plenty of folk sitting around waiting. If you do decide to get a test there, yes, as advertised, it will cost $65. There were places apparently in ...

Moratorium ,over, NCL Epic not ready for prime time

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

After months of being unable to cruise due to the moratorium, I was eager to resume sailing. I had booked one NCL cruise but that was canceled. I then booked NCL Epic`s sailing from Rome on 20 Nov 2022. There were several alterations to the cruise identified shortly before I boarded the ship (but subsequent to the cut-off date for canceling with no financial penalty). First, the production of ...

My least favorite ship out of over 40 cruises

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

I waited to write this trying to be fair and take the Covid protocols into account but even without Covid this ship is like a mish/mash of other ships. Bits of this and that...you soon start feeling you've been on the ship before. Deck, two tiny pools and massive slides etc. for kids. Naturally Cagney's, La Bistro, La Cuchina, were at their best as always. O'Sheehans was the only place with ...

Epic Fail

We were anticipating a great accommodation on what we were told was a newly remodeled Epic…oh…wait…remodeled does not mean that all passengers will have nice accommodations! The remodeling apparently only meant that the former gathering space on the top deck has been eliminated and is now high priced suites for a select few guests willing to pay for the privilege. The standard cabins are ...

Just disembarked yesterday, so I thought I'd review while it's still fresh in my mind. Embarkation in Civi was smooth and seamless and well organized, the whole process took less than 1/2 hour. When we got to our balcony stateroom there was a strong urine smell in the toilet area, not a great first impression. Off I went to guest services, where they apologized and promised to have the ...

1. Nickel And Dimed: I felt like everything was extra money after I paid for my cruise. - The app to message people around the ship was $10. - Most of the restaurants you had to pay for ($40-$50/person) - The best entertainment you had to pay for. - All drinks except water you had to pay for. (other ships I have sailed with let you get a soda or lemonade or something similar with your ...
