We went on Royal Caribbean's 7 night Eastern Mediterranean cruise leaving out of Civitavecchia and stopping in Sicily, Athens, Turkey and Crete.
I was impressed with the efficiency of the check in process which went very fast. I believe we were in our room in about 30 minutes after arrival. I wasn't crazy about having to hand in my passport (only applicable for non-EU passport holders) but ...

This was our third cruise with Royal Caribbean and we were not disappointed. We took the cruise out of Civitacecchia, Italy not really know what to expect with this being our first European cruise. As well, this cruise was different for us as we were by ourselves - no friends or children. Here are our thoughts:
*Flew into Rome and trained to Civitavecchia - Very easy to get to the rail ...
We've done multiple cruises in the Caribbean and to the Bahamas, as we live in central florida, and it just makes it an easy vacation. We decided to go for this Mediterranean cruise, as we were already planning an Italy vacation, but wanted to cut the cost a bit. This cruise fit the bill, and then gave us a lot of wonderful surprises!
First off, we were in Rome for a few days before departure. If ...
Our group was 6 adults staying in 3 adjacent rooms: me (34 years old), my wife (31), her sister (36), our friend (31), and my in-laws (58, 59). Our two-week vacation to Italy involved this cruise in the early portion of the trip. For convenience, the cruise ship review will appear first, followed by our Italy tour information for those planning to stay there longer that just the cruise trip. The ...
We flew into Fiumicino airport (Rome) and stayed 3 nights at Courtyard by Mariott hotel by the airport. The hotel provided a shuttle at a charge of 6 euro. The hotel was a good place to stop just to relax. Breakfast was provided and the pool had a lovely green area surrounding it. There were a few restaurants and pizzerias within walking distance.
On the Sunday morning we took the shuttle ...
This was our first cruise with RCI, but our 4th cruise. We boarded at Civitavecchia, after arriving from Roma Termini main train station near the hotel we stayed in for three nights prior to the cruise. After taking the train, we walked to the port where we caught the free shuttle to the ship. Check in at the port went fairly smooth even though we had forgotten our color coded luggage tags. We ...
We flew into Rome the day of the cruise, had pre-arranged a private taxi transfer to Civitavecchia (RomeCabs - excellent service btw).
Embarkation was quick and easy, less than 20 minutes.
Note: if you want to change into bathing suit/evening clothes, etc, keep a carry on with such items with you, as luggage is delivered to the stateroom up to 9pm. We were told it would be delivered within the ...
We enjoyed our experience on the RCCL Navigator of the Seas. The ship was clean, well maintained, and the crew/staff were excellent. The food was very good in the dining room, and fair to good in the Windjammer (casual dining room). We also ate at the deck 5 promenade 24-hour cafe, which had small sandwiches, pizza, cookies and drinks. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment, which consisted of ...
This is my 6th time cruising, 2nd time with RCL. Will NEVER cruise again with this line!
