This was our second Viking Cruise. Our last was a river cruise in Russia in 2019. We were not sure what to expect due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the heightened controls and procedures that were being implemented at the time of our cruise. Viking made it feel as seamless as possible. The ship was beautiful. It felt very clean and the protocols that were in place were mildly restricting, however ...
We have always heard about Viking and how good a company it is. We are not big cruisers but thoroughly enjoyed this trip. My only, and small, complaint was that on disembarkation and travel to the cruise terminal, we were just directed to go places without an explanation of what we were doing. There is some anxiety involved in travel and not knowing the purpose of our leaving the bus and then ...
We wanted to go to Italy to visit my spouse's ancestral home, so we booked the Italian Sojourn on Viking and included a pre-package that allowed us to go to the village. This trip was while Viking and Italy had strict Covid policies. Viking did everything they could to make us safe and comfortable in dealing with the restrictions during the pre-package, cruise and post-package to Verona and Lake ...
We took this cruise to fulfill a bucket list item. We committed a year prior to the cruise, and planned all the port explorations during that time. Covid was just beginning to lift, so there were many conflicting requirements between the airports, the airlines, the hotel and the cruise company. There were ample cruise staff to help interpret the requirements, and to get us through the ordeal. ...
This cruise was originally called: "Cities of Antiquity & The Holy Land" and was renamed merely "Cities of Antiquity" after Israel and Cyprus were removed from the itinerary. We had a wonderful time and saw some truly remarkable sites. The ports of Pompeii, Heraklion, Rhodes, Malta, Turkey, Athens, and Santorini were beautiful and filled with so much history.

We flew into Rome, ...
We chose this for the Holy land component but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Didn’t find this out till one week before we were to depart. We decided to go anyhow and Viking was very gracious with shipboard credits and future cruise credit. The staff was amazing and attentive. No problems at all! Food was phenomenal! We are vegetarian/pescatarian and the chef always worked with us on our food ...
This wonderful Viking cruise was over Christmas and New Year's. We began by sailing down the west coast of Italy down the Amalfi coast to Sicily. The people on the Sky were wonderful. The ship was decorated beautifully with Christmas trees, gingerbread houses, sparkling lights and all. Then we sailed to Greek islands and Athens and Ephesus and Turkish delights. It was a trip of a lifetime. My ...
We embarked in Marseille for a 10 day Med cruise followed by a 16 day Transatlantic . The ship was spotless , the attention to Covid issues was excellent and the 800 crew members were all friendly and solicitous. Caviar was sparse but foie gras and lobster was there in abundance.
The entertainment was far superior to what we experienced on the Marina some years ago from Rome to Rio. We ...
This cruise was our first time on Oceania. The ship had about 600 passengers, so a little over half capacity and the COVID restrictions were in force. So I'm not sure if it was a "normal" cruise and that may have contributed to our less than perfect experience.
We arrived in Rome a few days early. I had used Oceania Custom Air because airlines were cancelling and changing flights due to covid ...
We actually had two voyages on the Viking Sky in 2021--one to Iceland and one to the Mediterranean. We always choose Viking because we like the relaxed atmosphere and the inspiring and educational excursions. Local tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and fun to tour with. The crew is outstanding---friendly, attentive and fun. And the food is always delicious. We enjoy the ...
