Solstice Review 17/08/09 Great Ship - Inconsistent Service
One of the strange things that has been commented on before on Cruise Critic is that people on the same cruise can have vastly different experiences. I think a lot of this comes down to expectation and prior experience. I am writing this by way of warning because this review isn't from the point of view of a veteran mass market cruiser ...
The Solstice is a sophisticated cruising experience. However, it was clearly good for families, too as there were plenty of kids and teenagers who seemed to be having a good time. We had a lovely room with a deck which we used to sit out and read or to look at the islands as we passed by. There was PLENTY of space. The closet was spacious with enough hangers, there was a dresser, and lots of ...
I wanted to write a review so that I may help others planning for their cruise the same way I used CC to help me. First of all I want to say that celebrity's service was outstanding the boat obviously being brand new was beautiful and the food was fabulous. I know some people have said the food was mediocre but considering they make over 13,000 meals per day I think they do a fabulous job. I never ...
We are independent travellers who normally rent a home for a week or two and travel around by car on our trips to Europe. When we first started planning this trip, I read a lot of posts on this site to give us a feel for what to expect. I must say after reading the posts I was a little apprehensive about our choice of vacation. I read complaints about service, food, crowds, you name it! I can ...
We have just returned from a very enjoyable cruise. We stayed overnight in Rome and had a shuttle pick up arranged by a fellow C.C. Embarkation was easy, had lunch and went to cabin. The balcony had a window washing gantry obscuring the left hand corner.I had seen from the Cabin Sticky on the forums that the corresponding portside cabin had that problem so I asked my TA to contact Celebrity,I was ...
We had a balcony stateroom which was designed and fitted out to perfection. The food was first class and the service from staff was the best we've every had. However, our only 2 complaints about the cruise was lack of entertainment at night for adults. We were second seating for dinner 8.45, however, didn't get out of dining area until 11.00 every night, which had a knock on effect for the ...
This was our third cruise with Celebrity (my theory is that if you are onto a good thing, stick to it), and in nearly all ways, our faith in the cruise line was rewarded.
I have posted my trip journal and photos at: http://ourcruises1.shutterfly.com.
The ship was wonderful - as most other posters have said at Cruise Critic -so I won't spend any time describing it, except to say she is ...
It's been almost 2 months since our return from the fabulous Celebrity Solstice tour around the eastern Med, but the memories are still strong and will be for some time to come. This being our 1st ever cruise we were somewhat apprehensive - will cruising be for us? will we be bored ? will we suffer 'mal de mare ? Flying out to Rome the same day as departure, would we get to the ship on time ?? ...
We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. All our Celebrity Solstice employees went over and above to make our trip a good one without exception. We were on the 7th floor with a balcony room which was very comfortable.
We did not book any excursions with the ship which turned out just fine. In Messina, we walked past all of the taxi drivers and thought we might want to take the open double decker bus ...
We have just returned from a really great cruise on the Solstice and the overall experience was very good.
We are quite experienced cruisers and have travelled on P&O, Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Each cruise line has its own individual 'flavor'.
This year our cruise was from Rome so we decided to stay 2 days in Civitavecchia. I chose the Hotel Miramare and was not ...
