First time cruising on the Edge Rome to Barcelona
"Food was to a high standard and the staff were happy to let you have a selection of starters and couldn't do enough. We had the basic package and that was good enough for us to enjoy a selection of wines and cocktails over the cruise...."Read More

First time cruising on the Edge Rome to Barcelona

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Celebrity Edge

The cruise started well after a short train ride from Rome to the terminal and a bus to the ship. First impressions were great and we spent the first day exploring the ship and having a few drinks at different bars. We had an AquaClass room and our tip is to look for a layout where the bed is close to the window. We enjoyed sleeping with the window open and hearing the sea. It was also ...

We have sailed Celebrity before and we do like the line. We sailed Princess, Holland of America and Norvegian, but we always return to Celebrity. We always wanted to do a transatlantic and the time was perfect coming from a few days in Barcelona. We stayed at the casa del mar near the port and this was very nice the owners are wonderful. Embarkation was smooth we booked a suite it was our first ...

We have now cruised with Celebrity 13 times...We have always enjoyed the many features of the Cruise Line. But this time, we were a bit disappointed. The Edge is a beautiful ship; however, it lacks some of the features that we find so appealing in the Solstice class ships. For example, there are few quiet areas in the ship. Nothing like the Ensemble lounge or a library area or the Sky lounge. ...

Sadly Missed a Star

I loved our last Celebrity cruise and did miss the wonderful front facing lounge on the Solstice Class ship. The Edge was beautiful, but lacked some of the more comfortable lounge areas. I found the entertainment to largely be very good, only a couple misses on a 12 day cruise is hardly room for complaint. However, they clearly did not have the staff necessary for this particular cruise which I ...

My wife and I finally got back to cruising in July and I thought I might give my impressions of Edge (our first time on an Edge class ship) and changes in cruising we noticed. First Edge was a great ship and our infinity veranda was an excellent choice. The infinite veranda allows you to be on your veranda and still in your cabin at the same time. On this cruise the weather in Europe was hot, ...

first time on the celebrity cruise so i can't compare to their other classes of ships but i thought it was good. we were on the cruise that was in Rome, Sicily, day at sea, santorini, athens, mykonos, naufplion, katakolon, day at sea, malta, naples, back to rome. embarkation: very smooth process- maybe 10 minutes; we did the cruise's transfer from the airport to the port and once we were off ...

A fabulous ship with just one exception

We took the last Med cruises of the season, then did B2B with the transatlantic crossing, for a total of 25 nights. The only negative in the ship design is that there is no forward-facing observation deck. For me, that was a big deal. We also made the mistake of booking a traditional balcony cabin, thinking we would have connecting balconies with our travel companions. Turned out they weren't ...

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise BUT we did not like the ship for the following reasons:- 1) It is far too modern 2) There are a lot of dark rooms that look quite depressing. 3) We did not like the fixed dining room - unlike Solstice class there are 4 almost identical dining rooms instead of the 3 floor Dining and you are allotted one of them, you can get a seat in any ...

Going Back to Solstice Class Ships

After much excitement and over a year of waiting for our first sailing on Celebrity Edge , we have hands-down decided that the Solstice Class ships are our favorite ships on Celebrity. Edge Is a beautiful ship but I found it locked the intimacy of the beautiful lounge gathering areas on Solstice Class ships. We missed seeing our fellow cruisers dancing in the grand foyer at nght and did not care ...

Long ship review - sailed Sept 30 Mediterranean

I had multiple frustrations long before boarding. Most of which were related to the fact that my mother and I were in different staterooms and it was very difficult to coordinate reservations for excursions or dinner. I was able to for main dining after I figured out how to associate a reservation (tho website still less than intuitive as you have to check the selection you JUST entered for it ...
