This was our second Carnival Cruise and one of more than a dozen we have taken in recent years. We've found that each ship and cruise has its pro's and con's related to dEcor, destinations and operation. That held true with the Splendor. We were pleased that our pre-cruise concerns regarding 'crowd control' and access on a 3,000-passenger ship the equivalent to a multi-storied floating hotel ...
Embarkation was faster than a speeding bullet. It does help getting to port early before the buses coming from the airport. Stayed in Rome for a few days prior to sailing and shared a shuttle with the couple we were travelling with. Made life easy instead of carrying bags in the Termini Stazione in Roma and then in Civitavecchia. 140 euro plus tip for 4 people was well worth it and also used ...
I am writing this review, as I have had invaluable advise and help on CC.
We are 3 Kiwi's who were on our first trip to Europe, we had already been travelling overland for 2.5 weeks when we boarded Splendor. Training out from Termini was easy. As long as you have a bag on wheels, and are up for a bit of a walk (the platform is just about at the end number 28) the cost is only 4.50euro and ...
My husband and I were on the October 17th Mediterranean Cruise on the Splendor. Since we are fortunate enough to get so much great advice and information from Cruise Critic, we wanted to share our two cents on our experience. We have cruised with RCI, Holland America, Celebrity and Azamara previously; Holland America being our favorite. Therefore, this was our first Carnival cruise but for the ...
Background: 4th cruise, 3rd on Carnival.
Flew into Venice. We took the ACTV bus to the main Plaza Roma; from there we walked to our hotel that was near the train station, there is a new bridge that makes the walk short. Hotel Abbazia was very pleasant room, nice service at the front desk and a lovely European breakfast. ($470.00 for 2 nights). We choose this hotel due to departing by train ...
Hi, Just got off the Splendor in Rome yesterday.
Had a great cruise with 15 of our friends. (By the way, for those people who may chose to take a little drink onboard, they had no problem with this. Some people took bags full of beer, wine, all types of alcohol made it through with no problem even at the ports of call)
This is a great ship. I loved the movie nights in the pool area that ...
Having cruised before but never with Carnival, we had high expectations of the cruiseline and were completely let down.
We were travelling with our toddler son from half way round the world and chose this cruiseline because of the reputation of 'family friendly' and childcare facilities onboard. Once there, we discovered there were only a dozen or so children on board and the average age ...
We arrived in Rome on Sept.23 same day as the cruise. We got off the plane at 6:30 a.m. Went through customs, got our luggage. By 9:00 we were on a bus to The Vatican. We did the Holy Rome Tour offered by Carnival. It was good, but we were very tired after the long flight. Next time would fly in the day before. We arrived at the ship at 5:00. It think it took 15 min. until we were on board. ...
Traveled with my husband and child. The ship decor was to busy and pink. Not elegant, we did not feel we were in a GRAND ship or a new one TOO BUSY.
The SHIP not spotless everywhere. I don't know if anyone else noticed but the cleaning crew needed to pay attention also to the dusting in the cabin and shelves. Also there was dust and dirt near the windows at the seating area at the Lido and ...
We had a 12 day cruise out of Rome and embarkation was fairly easy since i had entered most of the information online as requested, and we arrived late afternoon. We had 5 days in Rome previous to the cruise, had a great time so were a little disappointed by our cruise.
Like others, i found the overindulgence in 'pink' to be somewhat offputting! The shops onboard had a good variety but ...
