Would We Like Carnival After 20 Years?

We are a 56 year old married couple who decided to try Carnival after twenty years. We mostly cruise with RCCL and Celebrity. We went with low expectations thinking that this would be so port intensive, that the ship would not be much of a factor. We worried about cigarette smoke as well, as Carnival has a more liberal smoking policy than what we are used to as ardent non-smokers. Well, the ship ...

Our first day in Rome. We stayed at the Visconti hotel which was close to everything. As long as everything is loads and loads of walking. We visited the Trevi fountain, and other main sites in Rome. Dinner that night was at Alla Rampa restaurant. A great find that my sister recommended and satisfies even the most fastidious tastes. It has been there for more than 40 years. It is situated ...

Hotel Mozart, Rome, for 3 nights, then Carnival Freedom 14 August, 2008 This cruise, our 3rd Mediterranean voyage, in successive years, was for me, my wife Rosy and 16 yr old son, Luke. We left home at 20.30 on Sunday for the 2 hr drive to London Heathrow. We had a good journey, in quite busy traffic, but found our hotel easily. We stayed at the Sheraton Skyline, where we have stayed before. ...

Before our vacation we bought travel guides and a membership to Blockbuster online to preview what we wanted to see on our trip before reserving anything. Flew economy from Miami, FL to JFK because it's a short flight. Had a four hour lay over at JFK and was escorted to the Delta Crown Room where we sat, drank, ate, watched dvds, and played on the internet. Had a nice view of planes that kept our ...

There were five of us in our group, 2 adults and three teenagers. We flew to Rome a day before the cruise and stayed back a day after the cruise to tour Rome. There were too much too see. All the old buildings and landmarks were amazing, especially the Vatican. Since the time was limited, we hired the limo service "Touring In Rome" to show us around. The Carnival cruise tour guide Sabrina was very ...

Our flights from Heathrow were fine and whilst waiting at Rome airport was a bit tedious, and checking in at the terminal could have been quicker, with the amount of people waiting to board it all went pretty smoothly. This was our first cruise and way exceeded all our expectations - in fact it was faultless. Our cabin was pretty standard but got a wow from us and our steward was a delightful guy ...

The Carnival Freedom is a massive ship that fits a lot of people on it! Europe is a prime destination during the summer so the ship was filled to capacity. Embarking was pretty smooth, it took about 1 hour to be processed through the line and get onto the ship. There was water and some type of cake there to help tide people over while they waited. We arrived at 1130 and received our bags by ...

How to do Europe with no luggage.... We flew to Rome several days before our departure date of 5/10/08. Our most direct flight option was to fly through Newark airport. Mind you we claimed our luggage in Newark, and hand carried it to the international check in desk, because we had heard that they had 'baggage issues' in Newark. We checked 2 bags, and had 2 claim checks when we arrived in Rome. ...

Carnival Freedom 9/10/07 Grand Mediterranean About us: mid 50's, retired and semiretired professionals. 30th cruise, 7th on Carnival, 1st on Freedom. Not terribly fussy. Travelled with a younger couple 32 & 42. Pre-cruise. Flew KLM which was our first with them and a refreshing trip compared to our usual American and Delta. I would easily choose KLM again over other lines. Arrived in Rome 2 ...

On the whole, my cruise was a wonderful experience thanks mainly to a wonderful group of friends with whom I traveled, and the gorgeous stops on the Freedom's itinerary. The ship itself, and the way things are handled on it, leave quite a bit to be desired, from the hideous decor to the organization. The decor is atrocious and it wasn't just me who thought so. Ugly, gaudy, tacky ... my best ...
