1-10 of 44 Rome (Civitavecchia) to Europe Azamara Journey Cruise Reviews
We chose this cruise due to ports we were visiting for the first time. It was our first Azamara cruise on a smaller ship. We have cruised with Princess and royal Caribbean on our previous 9 cruises without too many complaints. We Just loved the ship size, we agreed that it was such a relaxed feeling for both passengers and crew. The service was great, a big thanks to all the crew for enhancing our ...
My husband and I booked this trip for our 20th anniversary. We did a lot of research so I felt like I knew what to expect. We embarked in Rome after flying in two days earlier to spend a bit of time in the city.
Embarkation was an absolute breeze. We arrived in the middle of the lengthy window for arrival and it took us only minutes to check in and walk aboard. The room was available right ...
We are experienced cruisers. We are not drawn to the large “resort” ships, except with our grandchildren. Increasingly we are selecting our cruises for the itinerary. The Azamara Journey was a 9 day Italy “intensive” itinerary with major stops for Florence and Pompeii, and other stops in smaller ports- suitable for a smaller ship. This was a major reason we selected a smaller ship. The on board ...
Positives
Friendliness and service from the crew especially Dave at Discoveries for breakfast and Julius in Spirits Bar and other locations.
Visibility of the captain and other senior crew members. I am sure the captain was wishing passengers a good day as we left the ship at every port we docked at.
Food was generally very good, especially the speciality restaurants and the chef’s table, ...
We chose this cruise because of the Florence, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona destinations. The Monte Carlo Grand Prix was the main event. The ship as always was great....okay, showers are tight but I think everyone knows that before they board the ship.....get over it. The bottomline is the crew, the officers, and, even more importantly, the fellow passengers were wonderful. The officers were very ...
We chose this cruise because as first time cruisers we knew what we did and didn't want. Very clear that we didn't want the whole rigmarole of tipping which as far as we could see added a lot to the advertised prices. We didn't want to have to dress up so no evening suits or ball gowns (unless you fancied it). Time was another crieteria, as we'd not cruised before we didn't want to be stuck on a ...
The Cruise was good, the ship is tired, the staff were great but they were no better than our experiences on Celebrity. In fact we felt the dining room staff on Celebrity were more attentive. The drinks policey did not really fit in with us, the wines were flat bottomed and cheap, we upgraded to the ultimate package but still had to pay $$$ for a port, which to me is ridiculous. The included ...
My husband and I liked the idea of cruising to Venice, Croatia, Montenegro and Corfu. We had a wonderful time. We sailed with friends from the UK who we met in Galapagos in 2005. The staff was outstanding and the captain was a very personable guy, always mingling with guests. He actually sat down with us at dinner one evening, very interesting gentleman. The first couple of ports were quite ...
Embarkation in Civitavecchiar Italy was painless and quick. Upon entering the ship, which we were handed champagne we were also greeted by many "welcome back" by the some of the staff who remembered us from our last sail on the Journey in April.
First stop Sorrento, which we easily made after the Captain announced that other ships were docking in Naples because they couldn't come in. ...
We stayed in a Club Continent Suite on deck 8. Very nice cabin, but no sofa - just a chair, so much smaller than the suites we were used to on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. The room was always kept well cleaned and the fridge well-stocked. They even kept the ice bucket full!
However, it is the service that Azamara provides that is the star. Bartenders, cabin stewards, waiters, and ...
