Hi I have done 10 cruises with other cruise lines but mainly MSC. I had to do this cruise to use up a deposit for a previous cruises cancelled due to COVID. In a strange way, ships like the Explorer could be considered 'perfect' cruise ships. They have a little bit of everything. I read an article recently that said ships like Mariner of the Seas (and therefore Explorer) represent the best cruise value you can get at the moment. Everything you want is there, even if some of it could be improved to make it perfect.

Not the best cruise ,done Royal Carribean few times ,and Tui this is by far the worst one
Food is awful and not enough space to move about in the buffet with their trolleys and electric wheelchairs
No where is the food as good as Royal Carribean for choice or quality of food ,thought Tui food on offer in buffets was basic , this is much worse

We have traveled with Norwegian Cruise Line in the past and truly enjoyed it all. My NCL reservations representative is wonderful too. We chose this ship’s itinerary since our first option to travel with NCL Epic out of Barcelona was cancelled to do ship updates. Needless to say, they should update Breakaway too. I choose this cruise through Costco travel. There were some perks for booking with Costco and i was interested in the itinerary going to Greek isles and the western side of Italy.
Good things.
We upgraded to a balcony and it was clean and comfortable.
We went to multiple ports and they were great for seeing things, like Pompeii, Pisa, Florence etc...

We choose this cruise for ports and because there were options for active excursions.
The pros
The cabin and bathroom were more spacious than on most river cruise ships. The beds very comfortable.
The ship was very clean.
The staff attentive.
The food was very good.
Free Happy Hour drinks
Activities director was wonderful

Wow! We spent a fortune sailing in the Yacht Club. Expected it to be like Norwegian Haven or Celebrity Retreat. The service was excellent in the YC but the entertainment and staff outside of Yacht Club is horrible. I honestly think they dislike Americans (but love our $$). When we originally booked this cruise the flight details "would be advised later" but Celebrity clearly stated "we will find the best flight for your cruise itinerary". That flight turned out to be a budget airline that required a check in at 3.30AM!
It meant leaving home at 1.30AM.

Just returned from this 10 day of Italy, Turkey and Greek Islands. Celebrity is very service oriented and this cruise did not disappoint. Staff were fantastic. We choose the Aqua Class and enjoyed the Blu restaurant for 9 of our evenings. Staff ate the best. Deni, Yuken, Chad, Marly are the absolute best. Appreciated the cleanliness of ship.
