Hello fellow travelers. My wife (Andrea) and I (Hayden) will be on board The Regent Voyager embarking in Haifa for the Glories of The Aegean cruise. We are looking forward to making new friends on this incredible journey. We are from Hoover, AL (Birmingham area) and this will be our fourth Regent cruise. We love Regent and have met some of the nicest people on all of our cruises. Maybe as we get closer to departure we can all plan to meet for introductions. Until then, we will follow comments on this board and comment on occasion.

    Safe travels,

    Hayden & Andrea Powers

    desktop10, thanks for the tips!

We did drop the Regent pre-cruise package, and have worked with our TA to build our own, which include a flight to Eilat and overnight in Wadi Musa/Petra.  We plan to ride in to Petra; I'm pretty sure that the walk would be a challenge for us.

Excitedly booked some excursions already, including Masada and the Dead Sea, Giza and the Cairo Museum, and the Meteora monastaries.  I'm really looking forward to this trip!

Liz and Kent are also on the May 23 segment.  Frequent world travelers.

To "Me&Red:"  Petra and Wadi Rum are amazing.  Been there 3 times; took Kent last year. Walked in and out of Petra.  But you can ride a camel or take a wild ride on a horse drawn cart..

We will be going to Israel early and will probably hire a private guide/driver.  Details as to plans have yet to be formulated.

A guide I used previously is possibly available and if not she will recommend another colleague.  I have seen an outline of a 4 day precruise plan thru our TA and it hits many highlights but I've seen some of them and the Husband is willing to miss some of the sights proposed for other possibilities.

If you are a more independent traveler, I came across a 70 page document prepared by a traveler to Israel which can be obtained by sending a request to  It is amazingly comprehensive.  I discovered this on TripAdvisor.
