How is it going?  any restrictions re coronavirus?

Service in the Buffet?  by staff only?

We are on the cruise for 10th from Sydney.

No restrictions. Buffet is as usual, mostly serving ourselves.

Hi, sorry I haven't been on here recently, been ill and am still recovering. I am looking forward to the cruise, meeting up with my niece and her husband (they are coming on the cruise with us) and spending the day with her sister in Auckland. We are flying Emirates (who decided to cancel the Dubai-Brisbane flight, we are now flying the previous evening. You will be able to recognise me, I have a walking stick with poppies on it.  Hope to meet some of you onboard.

Look forward to meeting you Emmone

    I'll make a few suggestions.

Dunedin - On line there were two companies, Shoreexcursionsgroup and shoretripsandtours that offered several excursions. They included city tour and Lanarch 'Castle' (not really a castle), wildlife tours of the Otago Peninsula and the Taieri Gorge rail trip. We had heard great reports about the train trip, but were not overly impressed.

Akaroa - The same two companies have tours. Here are some. Alternatively, just walk around the charming little town. Have a look at a shop called Fire and Ice that has locally made jewellery, much of it using inexpensive semi precious stones.

    • Banks Peninsula & Christchurch. Price: $114.00. ...
    • Banks Peninsula, Christchurch, and Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. Price: $129.00. ...
    • A Nature Safari. Price: $104.00. ...
    • Akaroa Harbor & Wildlife Cruise. ...
    • Sea Kayaking Adventure. ...
    • Akaroa Harbor Sail and Wildlife Cruise. ...
    • Akaroa, Banks Peninsula with Giant's House. ...
    • Highlights and Jet Boat.

I will continue with the other ports on a separate post.

re Dunedin, I can highly recommend the Shore Trips & Tours "Dunedin Highlights with Lanarch Castle".

We did this tour last year from the Ruby Princess and had a wonderful time, helped a lot by a warm sunny day.

It is a small group tour and from memory the bus met us at the dock. Our guide was very informative and pleasant and we drove all over Dunedin and into the hills with plenty of stops for photos. Lanarch Castle has a sad and interesting history and is well worth the visit. There was time to explore here and then have lunch - own expense.

On our way back to the ship, the driver even stopped at a supermarket for me to pick up some supplies.

The cost currently is NZD 129.00 which I think is great value for a 6-hour tour. You can book online.

I will say here too that we did not convert any money to NZ currency, but just used a credit card.
