    Hey almost fellow sailors, i have a query ... I just arrived home to an unexpected cheque from Princess and an identical amount is showing up as a future cruise credit with 'passenger relations' in the description column. 

     

    I *think* the $1150 cheque is the cancellation penalty I paid when I cancelled my original cruise (because if I add this cheque amount to the amount my TA says will be put into my bank account sometime next week (being the difference between the original cruise price, the upgraded cabin price, and the cancellation fee), and the amount I know will be refunded in full sometime soon because that's the cruise Princess cancelled) then that those three amounts add up to the full price I paid for my original inner cabin.   It was an unexpected delight to get the cheque because I have not had the email saying that they are going to reimburse the cancellation fee - so I wasn't sure it was going to apply to me.   

     

    I don't understand, however, the equal amount of future cruise credit - can anyone explain that?  I already had a future cruise credit (for $700, amounting to 25% of the price I paid for the balcony cabin before they cancelled the cruise) and I have put that towards the Alaska cruise I was hoping to do in May (but which is looking less likely by the day, what with our university cancelling all staff travel for the foreseeable future and saying if we choose to travel on recreation leave, we'll have to self-isolate when we get home).  SO my question to you is - have you also received this delightful and unexpected surprise?

    Good news they said it would take a couple of weeks

    We booked the same 18 days for next April

    We received our refund checks for the cancelled cruise by regular mail today. I wasn’t expecting a paper check, but it was most welcome. Princess was very prompt, considering the unfortunate situation for all involved.

    I emailed princess in Australia as my cancellation for health reasons was not because of the virus.  I mentioned that I heard all cancellations after the set date in January would receive a compensation offer. I have received a reply that a compensation package would be offered. I was advised to be patient it will take some time but is planned.
