Trip Advisor: Small-Group City Tour of Buenos Aires
Operator: Signature Tours
Booked through TripAdvisor; was a small group in a van for about 4-5 hours altogether. Drove to several of the major sites; good tour guide and seemed like a good overview - given we basically just had half of a day on our own.
Café de los Angelitos with Tangol Tours Latam SRL
Operator: Tangol Tours Latam SRL
This was setup by one of the other people on Cruise Critic; was a very good show with a good meal - not great meal. Good transportation to and from the port. We'd recommend it if you want a Tango show.
PCL Shore Excursion: Recoleta Cemetery, Countryside & Estancia
This was two 35 passenger buses for the Estancia. Interesting tour and visit to Estancia - great lunch with selection of meats. Best grilled chicken we ever had.
Trip Advisor: Montevideo Bike Tour
Operator: Orange Bike
This was about a three hour bike ride to a couple of downtown sights followed with a nice ride along the water - good views. Good guide and we liked it. Bikes are a bit old but it is pretty much all flat so worked out fine.
Trip Advisor: Private Day Trip to Peninsula Valdes from Puerto Madryn
Operator Indoor America - Top Private Tours
This was basically a day long trip out to Peninsula Valdes. It is about 2 hours there and then 2 hours back. About 2 hours of visits to several sights to see the marine life (penguins, elephant seals, sea lions, etc.) Then about an hour stop for lunch and the interpretive center. Note it was windy and rainy the day we were there - the roads are gravel/dirt and got very slick on the way back.
PCL Shore Excursion: Falklands Nature Trek
Basically a 3-hour hike around the bay to Gypsy Cove - saw some penguin nests up close and had good walk - which we liked. We heard a lot of people went out to see the King Penguins at Volunteer Point which also sounded very good. We just did not want to deal with the long drive - apparently about 2 hours each way.
Trip Advisor: National Park w/ Hiking
Operator: TOUR GUIDE USHUAIA
Pretty close to a full day visit to Terra Del Fuego park with some limited hiking at several points followed up with a couple of stops in the city. Overall we really enjoyed it - we were in a small group of 8 in a minivan. Note several locations are very popular so there were buses of visitors - we typically managed to avoid some of them.
PCL Shore Excursion: Magdalena Island Penguin Reserve
This was cancelled during the ferry ride (similar to a WWII landing craft) over to the island due to high winds/waves. Princess did promptly refund the excursion fees as shipboard credit. As an aside it was chilly, typically very windy and overcast for most of the trip from Puerto Madryn until we got to Puerto Montt. Missed Cape Horn due to high winds also and Amalia Glacier was very overcast but we did get back to see it. EVEN with the weather we had a great time and would do the cruise again.
PCL Shore Excursion: Lake Esmeralda, Petrohue River & Puerto Varas
Several busloads of people - several comments that the private tours would still deal with a bunch of people - buses were at all the major sights. Weather cleared in late morning and we saw the volcanoes and had a good lunch in Puerto Varas followed by time to walk around town. It was a very nice day and got in a nice walk along the lake - very scenic area.
Trip Advisor: Pre-Post Cruise Viña del Mar Valparaiso and Casablanca Winery tour
Operator: MTO Tours
Basically full day tour (primarily drive) through Valparaiso and Vina del Mar - with a good lunch stop. Winery tour and tastings were so-so - decent wines but not much of an actual winery tour. There were just four of us in a minivan with a good driver/guide. Right on time and dropped us at the airport or hotel depending on preference.
Trip Advisor: Private Santiago City Half Day Tour With Both Hills
Operator: MTO Tours
Basically a four hour driving tour of key sights and major tourist hills of Santiago. Got out for a little walking / visits and this was a private two-person tour with a very good guide. Provided a nice overview of Santiago. Note weather reminded us of Los Angeles in the summer - got warm and was pretty hazy so did not get great views of the city or mountains.
