    Hi

Lisa, are you referring to the Mendenhall Glacier? That is acessible by land but the Hubbard is viewed from the ocean

We have booked the small boat cruise at Hubbard Glacier, I know it was expensive but I figure that we may not get back there again and we want to see all we can.

    Cheers

Yes, I did mean Mendenhall Glacier. I had been reading about Hubbard's Glacier before posting... Ooops

I have researched some reviews of ship excursions that go to Hubbard's Glacier. Most reviews state that you only get approximately an hour at the Glacier and they all said that an hour was not enough time to explore the Glacier.

I have also found out there is a tram/bus that runs every 1/2 from the town to the Glacier which costs about $30.00. I have also read that a taxi ride is about $35.00. The reviews say it's about 30 min drive from town to the Glacier. (I don't know how accurate the cost is as it may have gone up since the reviews were made).

My husband and I were considering the whale watching, glacier, wildlife excursion but considering the cost and the time restraint at Hubbard's Glacier I think we may forgo the excursion and just take a taxi to the Glacier on our own so we can explore it and the town  at our leisure.

Couple from Australia first time to Alaska, very exciting. Fourth cruise with Celebrity.

Hi we are a couple from the UK travelling for our first cruise to Alaska looking at all the helpful comments is it worth booking an excursion to the Hubbard Glacier not sure how close the ship stops and whether we can get a reasonable view from the ship don't really want to waste money.

I've just read that an Electronic Travel Authorisation is required if travelling to Canada by air, which is what we will be doing for this trip (flying Brisbane to Calgary via Vancouver). Seems fairly straightforward to get, just wasn't aware of this requirement. Also it appears that we need a similar authorisation to travel to the US (ESTA) as we will be arriving by sea. I'd be interested in any comments

    Thanks
