Thanks for the warm welcome, I have seen people take the kayak excursions and some people get off on smaller boats to get closer to the beauty of the Glaciers. Everyone who has come back from these tours that we have met have raved about these trips. I honestly haven’t done that many excursions on all of the trips. I enjoy just wandering around like the Saturday in Juneau when I found where the hot rods hang out on Saturday nights and checked out some cool rides. We were lucky to be there July 4th and saw the fireworks. We also wandered up to the Governor’s Mansion to check it out a bit of a hilly walk. We have ridden the train in Skagway a few times and in Juneau have done a River raft tour from Mendehal glacier. I once booked a helicopter tour which was supposed to land on a glacier but it was canceled due to weather. I also love popping into the stores along creek side in Ketchikan and also a stop at the Asylum bar and grille. Also in Ketchikan there is a museum and the gondola ride which is nice. Another tour people like is on a crab boat called the Aleutian Ballad that was actually in the second season of the Deadliest Catch show which now takes people out for a crab fishing adventure. In Juneau The Red dog Saloon is fun and actually has Wyatt Earp’s gun at the bar that he left behind, and the piano players are very hilarious. We did the Liars camp in Skagway once it was fun but we are going to icy straight instead of Skagway which by the way has more diamond stores per block than probably anywhere else in the world lol. Ketchikan is my favourite town. We have also never been to Sitka either. We have done Carnival once, Holland America twice, and Princess twice, to Alaska, and now Celebrity. Alaska is always a great trip even when it’s been wet weather. We have also spotted bears, eagles, seals, and whales with our binoculars from the lido deck. Good to layer for the weather and have rain gear since it rains in Ketchikan 234 days a year and annual rainfall of around 104 inches.

I hope this helps, thanks again.

    Hi,

Glen and Diane From Victoria, BC here, Semi retired and fully retired couple who cruise 2-5 cruises a year. We are looking forward to doing this cruise with my Mother, my two brothers, and also one brothers wife. This will be our 6th Alaska cruise but first celebrity cruise. We are considering taking the cruise before this sailing to explore the restaurants and get a good feel for the ship. Hope to meet some others if there’s a meet and mingle. Sorry I haven’t read any of the threads yet.

Hi Glen and Diane!  Welcome to the board!  Since this is not your first Alaska cruise, do you have any shore excursions recommendation for newbies like us?  We were thinking the Tracy Arm Fjord in Juneau, and some sea kayaking at one of the other ports...any comments?  Thanks!  Eric

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

My husband Mike and I will be joining you on this cruise as the second part of a longer holiday  We are travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer train before joining the cruise in Vancouver.

We are experienced cruisers, but have not been to Alaska or Canada previously so new and exciting territory for us!

Look forward to some discussion on the board and meeting you all on board. :)

Hello fellow cruisers, my husband and I, along with another couple will be on the Eclipse to Alaska. We look forward to meeting new people and hopefully can get a cruise critic party going while on board.

    Enjoy the holidays,

    Dee
