All Tarragona and most Barcelona excursions were cancelled yesterday and we spent the day at sea, docking at the scheduled time of 1900 or 7pm.

We were strongly advised not to go ashore last night, but that the situation should be much calmer & safer during daylight hours, so hopefully transit to the ship should be straightforward.

    Dear Azamara Guest,

We’re writing to address some last-minute circumstances regarding your 7-Night Mediterranean Mosaic Voyage set to depart Barcelona on Saturday, October 19th.

As you may have heard, there have been a number of political protests in the city over the past few days which have resulted in disruptions at Barcelona’s international airport.

We’ve been made aware that additional demonstrations may occur on Friday, October 18th, the day before you arrive and board the Azamara Pursuit. However, at this time, we’re not aware of any protests planned for Saturday, October 19th.

Based on our local insight and operations over the past week, we expect there will be little, if any, impact to your arrival into Barcelona. The airport along with the city’s key transportation services have taken appropriate measures to avoid disruptions. As always, our Azamara representatives will greet you at the baggage claim and escort you to the ship. Additionally, any excursions you’ve booked will be conducted as scheduled. Should any minor adjustments be needed, our local tour operators will see to them so you enjoy an immersive and unforgettable Barcelona experience.

At Azamara, it’s our privilege to count you among our valued guests. We make every effort to provide you with accurate and candid information regarding your voyage. Should any further developments occur, rest assured, we will let you know as soon as we become aware.

For now, we look forward to welcoming you aboard the AzamaraPursuit right on schedule in Barcelona. Then, it’s off on a 7-night exploration to discover the romance of Monte-Carlo, the wonders of Rome, the treasures of Florence, and the Napoleonic charms of Elba.

Thank you for choosing Azamara. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow.

    Sincerely,

    AZAMARA®

We have arranged a private transfer on Friday through our travel agent so should now be fine. We were in Barcelona last year on the anniversary of the referendum and there were lots of demonstrations but all very good hearted.

We are on board at present and the situation is being monitored both in Miami and on the ship.

Captain Antonio made a detailed announcement this morning and will keep us up to date with any changes.

Wishing all safe travels and smooth embarkation. ☺️
