Re-modernized Riviera almost hits all the sweet spots

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Riviera

A little background about us. Early to mid sixties, 45 plus cruises, six on Oceania in total this was our fifth on the Riviera. Cruised on Celebrity, HAL, Princess, Cunard, P&O, Royal Viking and Silver Sea. After being away from cruising for a year and a half we were looking forward to returning to Oceania. Primarily for the itinerary and of course the excellent food and service which are ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Riviera

We loved being back on a small ship without crowds and queues. The only significant negative are the ship organised excursions. Most of these were sold out months before the departure date. I also discovered, by accident, how much the company add to the actual cost of at least some of the trips. It's scandalous. We tried the Panoramic Donegal' coach trip adverted struggling to find a way ...

Boutique cruising at its best.

The cruise itself was bit of a damp squid, with poor weather spoiling the enjoyment, though we did enjoy our shore trips as much as possible, but they are very pricy. The overall enjoyment of the cruise is the ship and what it provides. The cabin was the best we have experienced, it's layout made the best use of space, also the cabin staff were very good in providing us with a spotless cabin, and ...

2nd Time to Greenland and missed it again

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Riviera

Greenland is one of the items on my bucket list, and this was our 2nd visit, and 2nd time to miss it. The first time - we went in May, with a transatlantic cruise from London to New York. This cruise had 2 stops in Greenland, but because of fog and Ice, we could not go in. We had lunch with the Ice Captain, and were told to never try to go to Greenland before July. So, this time, we did book a ...

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Riviera

I was invited to post this review here after posting it on the Boards. Happy to do so. My rating of 4 stars is only because I didn't feel 3 stars was sufficient. If I could rate it more appropriately, it would get 3.5 stars. This review ONLY focuses on the Owners Suite, and issues I found with it. After the initial critical review, I'm going to add another post I made when somebody asked me ...

Excellent cruise experience.

My wife and I just returned from an 8 day Ireland cruise on the Riviera. To provide some perspective, we are not avid cruisers...use the cruise to access a destination and don't particularly go for the cruise experience itself. We have cruised with Princess, Carnival, Celebrity and Viking prior to this cruise. We reserved an Oceania suite which was very comfortable, an excellent use of space with ...

Food did not live up to the marketing, ongoing argument during cruise regarding our account spoilt holiday

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Riviera

We chose the cruise due to the marketing around the quality of the food and the emphasis on service. Whilst the food was, in the main adequate to good, it was not the best cuisine. Also, I had the lobster in the Polo Grill and it was inedible ! We had prepaid excursions however, when we got on board, this was disputed by Reception, as was the fact that our package included gratuities. We had ...

A very nice cruise with a few glitches

This was our second Oceania cruise and our previous experience on a seven-day New York to Bermuda cruise on the Insignia had prepared us for what we viewed as the line's strengths and weaknesses. Its greatest strength is the food, we never had a disappointing meal in any of the venues. Red Ginger was amazing and Jacques was very good. If we had one complaint about the food is that desserts and ...

Custom Air. Just what did I buy for $350?

Been on Oceania before. Like the ads say, it's all about the food. The food was wonderful with the exception of Polo Grill. Service was very slow and two of the 4 steaks served were almost raw. Because it was nearly 10:00 by the time we were served, it was just too late to send them back. Similar experience first night on board in the main dinning room. Just not enough people to serve all the ...

Having cruised with Oceania on a few occasions prior to covid they were 1st class, our latest cruise post covid on Riviera Rome to Trieste April 7 - 14 was certainly not up to the standard we had previously experienced. It would appear that costs are are more concerning to the company than guest experience. Food was good but arrived cool, the Grand Dining room food was obviously kept under heat ...
